Ahh the lovable BSOD Hadn't thought of that, nice, but I think I'll save that for one in a slightly worse state of wear.

What you need to do is magnetize it, and have a bunch of different ones you can swap out.

I'd have to say go with a test pattern

(at least for one of them, if you were to magnetize them...which is a great idea - thanks Anvildude!)

schank - Eyeball preference noted. A little bit of progress on the trukk means absolutely no progress on a whole gak-load of stuff

And have you looked behind the cooker? I find the grots are always shoving stuff back there. Hamsters mainly. But other stuff too.

Anvildude - et tu? Arakasi suggested that in passing a while back, and if it had come up whilst still in da surjary stage then it 'might' have happened, but not now I'm always a fan of fairly pointless options on figures, and different faces is a cool one. The idea is stored for future reference though, don't worry..

Arakasi - and your memories obviously on the way out.
Step into my workshop a mo, I've got some lovely cirkits here, stripped fresh from some cogitators, should fit you just nice

I don't think you need to worry about the rally dying, over the course of a year there's going to be times when it's quiet, and times when everybody's posting at the same time But I'll bump it anyway

Zeke - LOL. Guess peeps like the magnetised faces idea eh? I'll look into it. But not for TV-head.

I'm fairly sure on that anyway Test patterns good, but If I went that route I'd probably use the classic BBC one, and there's no way I'm fitting that onto the tiny screen. Don't think I could pull off your example either, although that's more likely to work.

Ok so trukk #1 has a little more done:

The rhino-door plank is stiff enough to stay upright and has a stop in place for when it's down. The other one has a tiny magnet holding it up (visible in the third pic, on the upright) but hasn't yet got a 'down-stop'. Toying with having the remains of a sponson instead of a hatch over the grot - that would act as a good stop too.

And some work on the tail end of the fighta :

The jet's at a funny angle at the moment as I'm deciding whether to have it gimbal-mounted to 'aid' steering. Probably not, but looking at it for now. Extended it further back than I'd originally planned as I'm now going for 2 grots rather than 1 ork, and needed to start the tail further back. Visible grot will be the pilot, he's reaching up to turn a lever which will be connected to the tail mechanism. Gunner seated behind him, maybe slightly higher, depends on how I work the connection betwen lever and tail - some kind of wiring running back on posts above their heads at the moment.

Thanks for stopping by, feel free to bring scooby-snax next time...

Arakasi - You'll feel a new mek after da fixin's And a feeling of emptiness around the gumlines.

The exhaust needs a bit of GS love, it's a little more ramshackle than I envisaged

Now I just need to marry the two ends together

mullet_steve - Of course you may. Insertion noted Hourglass filed away for future possible use

Bangbang - Nope I'd guess the smaller scale is probably HO, not sure on the other, a bit off 1:35 I'd say. Pure guess-work both of those though And thanks.

PDH - Thanks! I'm guessing the long delay was due to the shock of actually seeing actual painted minis

Davidian - Yeah, it was more me wondering if it looked like a vectored nozzle, or just a badly glued nozzle. I think I'm going to go for the angled version, but probably won't know til I actually glue it Nice clip, hadn't realised just how far that nozzle moved on the F-35, but then I've not really followed aviation for a while, it'll always be the harrier that comes to mind for me (not sure if that should be a actually)

mullet - dirty boy

So what does Sunday's quicky bring us this week I hear you ask. No, I do. The voices, I hear them, they ask this, they do.

Those magnificent grotz in their flyin' machines

Control systems in place, although the navi-gunner's console fascia is only blu-tac'd for now, I'm not going to try painting that in place
Cabling was a pain, still not quite what I was after, but it'll do. Still some gubbinz to be added directly behind the grots, support systems, some more wiring etc. That's the crew pretty much sorted though.

All the dakka is blu-tac'd too, should have been done, but started in on some riveting instead, that ate a bit of time up
The wing guns should get some detailing for the pivots, and possibly some wiring, the back of the guns need tidying. The hull mounts will get ammo-feeds coming from those structures beneath them, seem to have misplaced the few I had out at present.

In non-pictorial news, there seems to be a proliferation of big meks/warbosses forming themselves from various parts, there's a whole workshop load of vehicle ideas running wild and I'm getting a bit of an urge too start putting a warbike of da aporkalypse together.

Paints, glue and various plastitubes are running low and there's not many tef about at present. But it's my birthday in a few weeks, so I'm going to be dropping hints about some vallejo paints and some decent sable brushes.

Hope you enjoyed your visit, come back soon....

That crazy contraption looks quite spectacular. The two grots, who I assume are piloting the thing (but I'm not sure), are superb and that "steering wheel" is so screwball! It's awesome.

Love it. Though... I can't get over the feeling that an actual grot flying machine would have the center part without either of the wings (i.e. there's too much "control" in the "control surfaces". *grin*

GG - They're giving it their best go. Unfortunately the steering is a bit wonky, the pilot's only got one arm and the navi-gunner is just bemused by the sparkly lights on his console. Flight 010 from Orkadia City may have delays....

Matt - As I don't play I suspect what will happen every time I 'use' it would sound more like someone running around making tie-fighter sounds occasionally interspersed with dakkadakkadakka noises

shaso - They briefly tried fly-by-light, but just kept blinding the pilots so...

neil - I was a bit worried about how that might look considering the 'flatness' of the rest of the model, but it looks close to what I envisaged, so all good there. There'll be a few bitz affecting that smoothness, but not much.

Gits - Well, in this case I think the only 'control' surfaces are in the tail plane, the rest of it's just there to fit more red paint on
And that's pretty much all it was when it was considering a career as Da Turbo Triffik, just the engine and some wheels. Which has just reminded me I haven't finished the underside yet That's going to be a pain now I've added all the gubbinz to the top.

So no pics tonight, sorted out the hull dakka and that's about it, wasn't worth showing again as it's not much different to the blu-tac version. Think I'm going to leave it without undercarriage as I can't think of a good way to get it working properly. At least, not without either a LOT of messing around or being REALLY unelegant (that would be the solution - obviously the orky stuff isn't meant to be elegant )

shaso - Thanks!

But there was just a reply post since your last post

schank - Could be bigger, but that one was lying around the mek's table (he has a big table) and so they used that one first.

So what's new on the fighta front?

Crew area and hull daka finished, save any little GS work needed to smooth a few areas out (really need to re-stock on Plastiweld, I made far too much of a mess using other glues on this). Decided the one-armed pilot really needed a throttle to go with his awkward steering wheel The consoles for both pilot and navi-gunner are only blu-tac'd for painting, and there'll probably be a few wires added after painting.

Wing dakka did end up with a simple atachment, the other version was just too fragile in the end (not helped by another bout of dodgy gluing by me)
Top half done, now to get on to the underside. Nothing like working the wrong way round
Also need to figure out how I'm mounting it, preferably before I finish working on the underneath.

I say you mount it above the fire place. I think the glow of the fire in the evening would really bring out the sensual curves. The romantic fire flickering its light on the mounted Fighta Bomba while you sit back and sip on a nice vintage wine.

schank - now that you mantion the sensual curves I'm wondering if I should try out some iridescent paint on it, works better on curves that flat angles. I'm sure I've got some red somewhere

vik - Umm, I always thought your zeppelin was a 'flyer' Danke.

Ok so I won't bore you with pics of a 'few more rivets added to the fighta'

Big Mek:

Gave him a few innards.

And finalised his overall design

Right arm and left servo-arm are blu-tac'd for tweaking and painting. That's the start of a Kustom Mega Blasta on his arm, still deciding on a plume of hair or a scanner (as per first pic) for his head-piece. Bit of GS work needed on his torso and lower back - although the latter may get some more gubbinz dropped there yet. Think he's going to keep both hs feet, I'll chop 'em off the next time I use this body.

Rokkit boy/Tankbusta:

Been trying to use this body for a choppa/slugga boy but the leant back pose just wasn't working for any of the combo's I tried, so settled for a good old rokkit launcher at rest look Still working on a hand for him, and may replace those triangular piston attachments with GS or better cut versions. Had a slightly tidier version of the arm but decided it was a bit big for this guy and made a slightly shorter version. Which I now think is a tad too small

Warboss:

Thought I'd do a warboss to go with the various Big Meks that seem to be accumulating - he almost became a big mek with Kustom Force Field himself. Needs some more cutty/grabby stuff on the PK and is obviously missing a hand atm. That bwas going to be a bionik slugga, but I think it's going to be a normal orky hand grasping a slugga now. Did think of trying to magnetise the hand to swap out, but now thinking of being able to convert the actual slugga into a shoota, with a magnetised rokkit launcer to fit on a shoulder pad. May yet get a bionik eye too. Possibly some wires.

Slork (da slaya):

After a hard day's krumpin', orks like nothing better than a quick bout of Kendo practice.
Inspired by schank's black orks swinging a variety of 2 handed weapons, and partly by the SM orks sweeping across the galaxy. This was going to be the first of Da Emprah's Shrooms (I figured if I'm going to do SM orks I'll tread the CSM ork path ), but I'm swirling that concept around a fair bit at present.
I have a few ideas for some Slaaneshi styled orks (without going down the orky boobs road - well not really) but was also thinking it would be quite intersting to have these 'Slorks' a non-green colour. Purple was the colour I was thinking of in fact But not sure I want to do purply orks in purply/pinky armour. If they're not in pinky/purply armour (Pinky & Purply's Pop Parade - a children's favourite ) then they're not really Da Emprah's Shrooms anymore. Possibly try green skin with purple washes for Da Shrooms themselves, and have some more purply orks who are more representative of a warband following the CSM orks.

And yes, I am probably thinking about it too much considering it's a couple of squads of pink orks we're talking about here

Have some time off next week, so who knows, there may even be the odd splash of colour appearing soon I have a few trades that are way behind schedule so I'm aiming to get those done, but there's a few of da boyz wot is close to being propa colored an' evryfink.

Thanks for visiting, hope the suigwebs didn't mess your hair up.
