More scenery!

More scenery... fair enough, I probably should finish this board now I've started it...

@ Ruglud: Thanks dude, welcome to the thread Yeah I had originally tried to make a manta but, I kind of wanted it to look a bit like a cylon fighter so, it just morphed into that. It goes along with forgeworld stuff better and also the shape of the actual helldrake.

Ahh, ha, I thought it was a manta, i totally get where you're going with the design and looks great. Although I wanna see a space manta ray now... hmmm, maybe the next project after my T-hawk? (I must stop procastinating and get back to the build...)

Ohh, and I 2nd the call for more scenery - get to it...

still working on the terrain though, I've got the river shape cut out of foam and ready to coat in spackle.

Your Void Seeker is pretty darn impressive. It kind of reminds me of the Demons from Princes Mononoke with all the tubes and wires and such.

Some more WIP's... the pics came out a bit yellow though.

Did most of the OSL, the blue jet flames need a bit of work though, and I need to put more definition on the riveted parts (still not sure what I want to do with that). The two boxy things on the top are supposed to be radiators of some sort. Also haven't done any pigments yet or weathering effects in general.

Mate, it's looking great so far. I love the fact that now there's some paint on it I can play spot the bit and see all the bits am pieces you've added. Look forward to the weathering stage.

yeah my favorite bits to use so far were the warpsmith tentacles... so I could make the little baby tentacles with mouths coming out of the larger one

I'm really liking that. Looks just like it's been grown rather than built. Love the masses and masses of cables and tubes. Will be keeping it in mind for a future build.

Just a quick update... I've been busy working on the Dark Mech stuff some more but its expanded to 6 Forge Freaks (counts as spawn), 50 more Forge Ghouls (zombies) and I'm finicky about the flyer trying to get the details right for final pics. Plus I'm re-doing the obliterators a bit to add to the force. So more on that later!

Also I'm buying a lot more toys, as I'm employed again!

This is the latest distraction though, a small commission from xXWeaponPrimeXx for his Savlar 66th (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/509450.page), for a sniper character that he wrote, Briggs. Based off of Chapterhouse's female guard kits, which are frankly not the best quality but like most chapterhouse stuff, you need to convert it. I used arms from mantic's corporation troops, which are perfectly sized (don't use cadian arms like they advertise on the website they look terrible). A little love can make anything work I say, so these are good cheap bases for female guard that are not OTT overproduced pinup figs and work better in the 40k universe.

The sniper rifle is a Las-rifle variant, based off the chapterhouse lasgun (which is excellent btw) combined with chapterhouse sniper rifle. I added a backpack power source and a power cable, instead of the traditional power clip, because it looks cool and represents the rifle being a more high-powered very focused lasgun. Also I rebuild the stock into a more cool-looking one, added a rifle strap, and added an eyepiece to the helmet that interfaces with the gun. I also built the rebreather onto the helmet/face which works because the chapterhouse sculpts are hideous, and also sculpted some goggles onto the helmet.

That sniper is looking sweet, but I can't wait to see more of the void seeker it is scary awesome.

sniper is very good looking... but is still outshined by that awesome matrix looking flyer... man... you can paint...devil!

Yeah, the void seeker needs just one more round of touching up and then I have to get some good pics of it. I also scored a forgeworld Hellblade on ebay and I'm converting it up to look more like the seeker.

Thanks Yggs sorry no updates :( my job over the summer ate up all my time for modelling work, so things are going slowly. When I'm back it will be a monster update though! Especially with all this resin and plastic I seem to be aquiring...

Plans are to finish prizes for the League comp and get them sent out... then... well I have a pile of forgeworld cultists, hellblade and a blood slaughterer to convert, then some infinity stuff, finish about 8 spawn for my dark mechanicus force and final touches for the daemon flyer... and also terrain.

Thanks buddy, yes creepy is what I'm going for! AdMech are pretty creepy dudes, although I also want the loyalist conversions I do to be suitably gothic, you might say. That way the ones who've gone over to chaos can be more contrasting. I'm trying to stay away from using a lot of organic shaped parts with this guy.

For the dark mechanicus I'm collecting little daemon skulls, they will be like the spider skulls except made of daemon skulls, with more wild coiled wire and part-organic feel. Even had an idea about doing some flying servo-daemon skulls, and using them as screamers from the daemons codex

For the terrain competition (link in my sig) I was the judge, he got the second place prize.
