@ Desubot- Open to all. Welcome aboard and thanks for posting. Your Chapter Master is awesome, but you get my highest praise for your WIP Doomrider throwing the horns!

Page flipped again. Wow.

Here's a quick repost for folks just showing up:

here's a general idea of how it would go:

- Pieces would be intentionally small. Bases would be no larger than a 40K 60mm round base, but no smaller than a WFB 40mm square base (exceptions- 25X50mm WFB calvary base, 25X70mm 40K bike base, WFB 20x80mm troop base). You do NOT have to use a GW base, I’m mentioning them only for scale ref.

- Timeframe would be 4 weeks w/ a one week 'stress extension' if absolutely necessary for extenuating circumstances, but no exceptions beyond that flex time and I would prefer to not have to use it. On average it takes (me) a few hrs to build and paint one of these. The only reason I'm going 4 weeks is because I want to make sure the latecomers have a chance to enter and finish a piece, also the opportunity to catch up for people that find IRL is suddenly affecting hobby time.

- I'm also thinking about assigning 3 classes for judging- Expert (we all know who these guys are), Normal People (ha!), and special category Lurker. Come on lurkers, I know you guys are out there. Speak up and join the fun!

Important note, no WIP pics here. My opinion is that participation drops when WIP pics are posted. That coupled w/ the 3 judging categories will (hopefully) increase participation.

*edit edit again- temp change to the thread title*

All- PLEASE do not let this take time from your primary projects, ESPECIALLY if you are in the LoER contest or a paint competition or finishing up an army for a Tourney. This contest is intended to be a fun pastime as you wait for glue / paint to dry. It won't be a huge project for most of you to do on 'spare time' but I wanted to be clear on that.

So Skalk... is the lead post on this page the "official announcement"... or if I were going to re-post on my own blog... should I wait until Monday when you have all the details figured out?

It's a good time for me to sort through my 10,987 seperate little meat tray bitz boxes! I was just looking for Jake's Nuka Cola bottles and found some choice bitz I forgot I had, not to mention miniatures!

I'm in buddy, thanks for the invite. Just to be clear though what's meant by linear terrain? Have I missed an explanation?

OOoohhh boy... JUNK! In PILES!

Man Skalk, I am sooooo all over this one!!!

I'll just make even more garbage bags... and junk and stuff... Where do we put finished pics? And are we limited to 1 entry, or can we enter a junk table (slightly exaggerated ofcourse)

@ Biohazard... Linear terrain is a rather new term for Line-of-sight blocking, barricade or smaller sight terrain. Also known as scatter terrain or obstacle terrain...

Yeah, since this is "official" or happening or whatever, definitely count me in. I'd like to do more of these dakka challenge/competition things and this seems like a perfect place to get my feet wet.

4 weeks you say? Back in college that would mean about 4-8 hours the night before... but now that I've a little one... that means about 4 hours over the course of the month, good thing I'm not directly working on anything else too hard atm

@ Everyone- Thank you for showing such a strong interest. I am really looking forward to seeing what projects you all come up with.

@ Gitz- I had absolutely no idea the response would be so overwhelmingly positive and fast, including from people currently in the LoER contest. I sent a PM to hk1x1 and haven't heard back yet but seeing how 5 of the guys in that contest are cool w/ this I'm going to just call it official and get it rolling.

However, I'm going to say this one more time and then promise to stop.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I am honored that so many incredibly skilled people are taking an interest, but make no mistake- this is intended to be a fun 'keep your fingers busy while letting paint dry' side project. I am directly asking people with other obligations to NOT enter if there is any chance your main project will suffer from attention to this contest. Dakka is my only online hangout (I don't even have a Facebook acct) and the last thing I want here to is alienate those who would be my friends.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Ok, done with that.

UPDATE- I am working on the rules right now. So long as nothing stupid happens I'll have these up by Sunday at the latest. But I can announce the contest start and finish dates:

Start- 0000 Your time zone Friday Nov 15th
End- 5pm MY time zone (EST) Friday Dec 13th

Start date is a week out because I'm hoping a few more lurkers will emerge from the darkness and join in. Plus I thought it was cool to end the contest on Friday the 13th.

Ok, enough messing around here, I have work to do. Again, HUGE thank you to all that have responded and joined. For you lurkers and new folks, there's plenty of time to join. Just post here and you're in.

I'll be back when the rules are done.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I have decided to lift my self-imposed ban on competitions, and submit an entry for this contest.

As long as you don't confuse competition with tournament and have fun!

I don't normally do terrain (unless its dungeons), but it sounds like this will be fun, simple and a good place to start. I will assemble a bits pile from random stuff found in long forgotten places.

This is shaping up to be the biggest small terrain competition ever.

As it is only a small piece, has quite a long deadline, I'm kind of between projects and you asked so nicely... I'm in.

And you all know how I built the hut, so any advantage that can bring has gone...

And anyway it's Camkierhi you should be afraid of, he's the competition meister.

As tall as you want it to be so long as it can stand on a base within the stated size limitations.
