Do the off printed counters count as damaged or bad parts i.e. will they get replaced?

CoolMiniOrNot about 2 hours ago

@Alex, if you are unhappy with them, then yes.

So they *are* fixing what is basically a non-issue. Well, that's throws a nice and completely inconsistent light on things

Maybe someone here can help, or maybe you have a defective batch that need to be replaced.

I'm not Bob but I posted this previously of the same issue with no feedback.

The rifle does not line up properly at the back arm. If you place the rifle so it lines up at the wrist you get a HUGE gap at the back. There simply isn't enough "arm" to cover the distance needed. This issue only occurs on the helmet-less female figure. I also experienced this issue with the special weapons.

I don't have my game yet but looking at that it's probably best to heat the left arm in near boiling water and bend it into the body a little to close the gap - the distance between the 2 arms.

I don't have my minis out of the bags yet, but that's exactly what I would suggest, too. I have had metal models in the past that had this exact same type of problem, and I always bent the left arm to change the angle of the fit, and it worked.

Just picked my stuff up from the Manager's office. Two boxed games, two large bags of figures, a bunch of dice, and some artwork. Rest of my stuff is the "special" offer stuff that was scheduled for March 2013 but I don't expect to see it before June.

So nice to actually start getting some of the stuff I pledged for.

Mine did arrive yesterday. Picked it up today. 'Spose I should open it, huh?

EDIT: The tiles are huge! I’m glad I have 2 sets of these.

The counters are a little on the thin side. They’re only slightly off-centre, but not by a huge amount. The jewelled dice are cool. The minis aren’t made of that tacky silvery hard plastic the BTech starter box uses, so that’s awesome.

I’ve got a lot of stuff to build. Thank goodness I’m taking next week off work!

Where did this exchange take place? I sent them a query as soon as they sent the last update, almost two days ago, and they still haven't responded.

And guys, my main issue is that it's difficult for me to bend the left arm, which has been my intention since I glued my first uh-oh model. Honestly, I would rather just have them replaced with helmeted women, anyway.

Besides, I thought this was a board game for general release. Do you really think your average retail customer is going to know how to fix the models or have the patience to do it? They will just return the box or stop buying McVey/CMON products. Highest quality miniatures usually line up for gluing.

Just got mine! Looks awesome, really nice quality throughout. Had a very quick glance at the minis and a close inspection of a few - they seemed fine so perhaps I've been lucky with mine, although I know the crunch test will be when it comes to putting them all together!

Looks really cool though, definitely got a 'Space Crusade' vibe about it, but brought up to the modern age, so has twanged my nostalgia strings as well

Planning to start painting a few Strain over the weekend, going to go for a pretty simple base coat and wash paintjob, but I hope it will look effective enough

Still not sure what I want to do with my strain, colors wise. Probably heavily washed gunmetal for the non organic stuff, but not sure on the organics.

My plan is heavy wash all over With a beige(perhaps with hint of grey) for skin, deep red for "innards", gunmetal for sprouting metal bits and a nice shade of blue for ripped overalls. Hoping it will be quick but effective.

I tried it again with much hotter water...It was much easier. I guess that was the problem.

Still, it seems like it might put off the Board Game Geek crowd.

And I just got a response from CMON saying they will replace the helmetless women if requested. That should help the non-modellers tremendously.

My first impression was....wow big box I wonder how much air they have shipped?

Then you open it up and see it is due to the tile, cool I'll build a big enough shelf if necessary! Still two big packing hollows fill most of the bottom half, fortunately this is good room for the bio hazard stuff.

The contents are nice, the rules ive not read yet but i do have one true complait: Trying to open the damn thing is a chore though. The lids a real tight fit and the thinness of the card used means you have to be careful not to rip the corners out every time you open it. Fortunately I no longer have that worry as having been at work my partner or daughter have contrived to drop the box on the floor ripping the corners!

Still cest la vie.

Pfft, like that's hard.

I'm a regular user of BGG, but the people on there are ridiculous! They were already claiming bait-and-switch tactics and saying they were cancelling their pledges when they couldn't get a Downloadable rulebook before the end of the kickstarter. Hell, people were screaming on there because the minis had to be assembled.

Without looking, I'll bet somebody on there right now is ranting about how one of his sheets of counters is off-center, and how that makes Studio Mcvey "a bunch of hacks that stole his money".

Update: I just looked over the BGG forums, and people are still posting new posts about how the rules now being downloadable were a "conspiracy" on behalf of Studio Mcvey who was using that excuse to "hide" a faulty/bad ruleset that might have lost some customers if it was known...........sheesh!

Though I did see a review that brought out some of the flaws in the writing of the rules to my attention, ones where instead of reading the book, you need to really play the game to see a problem.

For instance, evidently the scenario on the rail-cars can technically be won by the Vanguard by just waffling and not completely killing the first wave of the Strain, because the new waves only come in when the previous wave is completely killed, so they can easily last the required number of turns to win.

Aside from putting the models together, how are some of you people finding the game-play? I haven't even put the figures together yet.

I got my box last night. Everything looks good. The tiles haven't warped, but perhaps that's because they had to sit in customs for a couple of days before making it to where I am. I have all my basic Vanguard troopers prepped and washed, awaiting assembly tonight after my son goes to sleep. I can't wait!

Now showing Catachan Jungle Fighters and World War zombies!

Painting total as of 30th November 2025: 136 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

I'm really excited about the game play, actually. Hopefully I'll get a chance to play it when my son is old enough for it, in 8 or 9 years. Before then? It's not looking very likely.

Wow Slinky! A reasonable starting price for an eBay auction??? That's blasphemy. But seriously, some of the starting pricing people are placing on these boxes are just absurd. There's a Biohazard with Lights out starting at $375. I mean WTF.

Also: the BGG complaining is simply astounding.

Saw the bug hunt corridors a few days ago SecretSquig, gotta say the best looking laser cut terrain project I’ve seen. Too bad I’m completely broke right now but probably for the best after all the money I've spent on KS in the last year, might wait and see what general sales costs end up being and try to grab some in a few months if its reasonable.

It's board game geek, there are quite a few diamonds there, but you will have to dig deep in the cesspool.

Way too many stories to complain about from my experiences there.

Played a few games, the combination of the reaver (with some tokens) and the grenade launcher is very powerful. I think the optimum load out for mission 1 is 2 grunts a reaver and grenade launcher. Try to always destroy the nano with the grenade launcher and it's hard to lose.

Quasimodos are evil if they hit, basically one shot kill..if they hit. Which should not be all that often, but I had some very good luck with them.

I think the more I play, the more I learn the nuance of the game and quite enjoy it. Trying not to get too dedicated until the FAQ is out, but I like the game a lot.

He has a partial FAQ out already and is anwsering questions daily or every other it seems. He fixed the Grenadier a bit. Instead of killing all in burst it is 1d6. Thus far I find the game to be pretty balanced. Only on mission 2 but I like to play each one a few times as different sides to see how it is. If anyone is nasty id say it is Akosha. 6/3, shoot in CC and past friendly so they dont block and her wired ablity is gross.

Akosha is too dependent on tactics for me to really consider. I think the reaver is the real stand out. Can drop 6 target mods as a special action, then gets 1d6 shots all for the low cost of two tactics.

Hmm... anyone know where I can buy an extra set of tiles? Yeah, I'm serious. 15 tiles would be a much bigger boon than just 10.
