Right, there I go. I've caved and am upgrading for a full $100 biohazard set. Now to convince my GW only gaming chaps to try something new

Edit - nearing the 60K stretch!

OH-I Wanna get out of here

I jumped in about 3 hours in, maybe less. I'd seen, and almost got some of the minis before, this sold it for me.

Mike - I did order the LE Kara's Last Stand mini on Cmon (it appears to be fully different from both in the ks). Is it the same scale, or larger?

Me too. I have come close to buying the Strain models in the past, but the idea of getting tons of them in plastic was enough for me to pledge. The idea of getting a second squad once it hits 60K was enough for me to up my pledge to Bio-Hazard.

I guess it was good coming into Zombiecide in the last 3 days, as everything was revealed. We've got a long way to go for this one...

Update #3: $60k stretch goal hit! Roll in the reinforcements!

Reinforcements have arrived! Each Biohazard level and above pledge gets an additional squad of 12 vanguard troopers thrown in for free! Time to contain that infection!

The Infection markers in all games will be upgraded from paper to plastic. If we hit this goal, we'll open a tool for these nifty tokens and improve Alabaster immensely for everyone!

This is a great, super clear design to show which of the Vanguard are suffering the early stages of nano-infection! We're sure you'll agree, much snazzier than putting a paper chit on the base.

Also upgraded will be the Nano counter, which doubles as an objective marker.

It might not be the most exciting goal, but I think the change from paper to plastic will greatly enhance the quality of the product

I'm looking forward to more minis as streach goals, but imo this will make it a solid product. We will have plenty more shots, I'm guessing we'll have a few more of the other current metal models transform into plastic. Hopefully some more unique models to boot.

If that's the Studio McVey resin LE figure, then it is probably a larger scale than the models in the game - 35mm instead of 28mm.

You know, I have a pretty tough time telling the difference between 'heroic' 28mm and the 30/32/35mm minis.

From what I've seen, they're about the same size, but you'll have to change the base. The LE resin mini's base is 40mm, and the Sedition Wars characters are on 25mm bases.

He said earlier in the thread mate

Mike McVey wrote:Just to clarify - all Sedition Wars miniatures are 28mm, even the LE ones (like the Kara on KS).

I was referring to the Studio McVey Limited Edition Line (the miniatures of various genre miniatures) being 35mm.

It's larger. I know it's confusing and I apologise! The original LE Lieutenant Kara Black (the miniature that started it all - now long sold out - http://studiomcvey.blogspot.co.uk/2009/12/lt-kara-black.html) - was in the Limited Edition resin line and is 35mm, and the Kara's Last Stand piece is a conversion of that.

Neither are in the Sedition Wars line. They are resin painter/collector pieces.

I'm super-happy we've announced this goal. It's something I desperately wanted get in the game. We planned for it - then the realities of production costs hit and the plastics had to be replaced with card.

The infection counters are really great - they snap on to the bottom of the base and are stackable - as the infection spreads you get more.

The nano tokens are also going to be cool - they are going to be tooled in transparent green plastic. They represent the cloud of nano virus in the game.

I know they don't seem as exciting as more minis - but they will make the game so much cooler.

Ok in UK money this works out at
Kickstarter price of the basic boxed game - £51
Retail price of the basic boxed game - £57
KickStarter price basic box shipped to the UK boxed game price is £67

Biohazard extras boxed game in the US - £63
Biohazard extras boxed game shipped to the UK - £80

Approximate price Via a discount retailer in the UK - £40 to £50

So If I get the basic boxed game I'll save around about £20 waiting for this to be released in the UK and just popping down to DarkSphere and getting there... plus I'm not preordering so my money stays with me for longer

Same here, I jumpped into zombiecide to get the extras that were KickStarter only.

I'm also waiting to see what the extras are that are only available via KickStarter before I decided to back this.
With zombiecide I wanted access to the extra characters.

At the moment the best option for me is to wait and buy it from a UK discounter once released because the Biohazard preorder does not sing " I'm worth the extra £30-40 " yet.. They are really being hamstrung by the $25 postage...
I'm not sure if they can offer the cameo noveties like zombiecide did and extra models are nice but not nessessary to play a boxed game... assuming you get enough to play all scenarios.

So the extras have to be something very special! to get my preorder...

I'm in exactly the same boat unfortunately. I definitely want this game, and will buy it. But, with the shipping charge, even with the nice extras it makes more sense to ignore the kick-starter and just wait for the general release.

Indeed, and the other thing to remember is that they are missing out on the impulse buys.. we are all very excited by this now. but when time comes to buy later and your standing in the shop along side the newest GW releases, they might look more attractive than the game everyone was talking about 3 months ago..
If they scrap the international postage they can have my preorder, other than that they have to show me more shiny stuff to get me to sign up

ThomasPolder wrote:Panic, did you figure in VAT there yet? US prices are ex. that...

honestly nope!
But I figure we should expect that It'll have to get paid no matter which method you go for..

KickStarter price basic box shipped to the UK boxed game price is £67 + vat
Biohazard extras boxed game shipped to the UK - £80 + vat
Approximate price Via a discount retailer in the UK - £40 to £50 +vat

Unless we are lucky enough to some how avoid it during delivery... some packages get held by customs for Vat some don't...

Thanks for those numbers... you've made me stop and actually think quite seriously about my pledge. One thing you did forget is that we will likely be stung by customs for another 20% import VAT and the post office handling fee. So if you've gone for the $100 package you'll be paying an extra $20 for the VAT (20%), plus £5 post office handling. *ouch!* Somehow I doubt CMoN will cover the VAT charges in the postage costs... I'd be pleasantly surprised if they did though!

[update] you beat me to it... I would imagine a package the size and weight of this game will be stopped at customs and charged VAT. They would be daft not to...[/update]

yeah the vat plus postoffice fees if you get caught will push the cost of those extras towards the £40ish mark

endtransmission wrote:Some additional, larger scenarios to go with the extra troops would be a nice touch

Indeed treating it like a limited edition mini expansion pack would go some way towards making the extra £40+ seem worth while.
Extra troops for both sides and new boards/objectives/missions.

But at the moment it's just 12 extra guys... which you dont need for the basic game.

Hmmm. You raise some interesting points and I didn't even consider the VAT charges. One could wonder that a huge crate will turn up for UK delivery and customs may decide some or even all of them get a charge against it. I think I'll downgrade to the $25 pledge - at least that is free postage and you get some snazzy artwork and a limited resin model. Also it depends on the courier. Who does CMON use? If its someone like UPS or FedEx, they might get around those random royal mail fees.

Depending on what else is offered in future stretch goals, I may upgrade back to a biohazard, but I think I'll wait for the box to be available in the UK (Maelstrom). I'll get the limited stuff with my $25 postage free.

Do those other minis from Studio McVey work in the game?

Which ones, aside from the ones in this gameset am I looking to get additionally for the game?

I really like those other ones, that are in the areas of the website.

Anyone picked up any? How do they look, out of the box, and how do they paint up?

I wonder how the scenarios are set up. Do the scenarios each have pre-set force builds (ala Space Hulk) or do you customize your own forces through some kind of point-buy system? If that's the case, then an extra 12 troopers could do quite a bit to add flexibility to the scenarios.

At the moment, I don't think we know much one way or the other.
