what that man said!!!
how much would p+p be in the uk £5 at most ?
any idea where there being produced ..im guessing china ?
so why cant some crates be diverted to the uk ? especialy as some will have to be a few weeks later anyway to be sent out to uk shops.
i realise where would be costs to repackage and deliver but it dose seem a kick in the teeth to have to pay $25 on top of the 20%vat and import tax and handleing fees and the fact we will proberly have to wait a extra week at least to get it after the US :[

1. If you pledge 'We've got Movement!' ($190) - it means you get two of everything you would get at the 'Biohazard' $100 level. So two copies of the game, two LE karas, two vanguard patches, etc - and two sets of all the stretch goals linked to the Biohazard level pledge.
Clear?
2. Not sure. I'll check with cmon and get back to you.

I wonder if part of the qualification for using Kickstarter is that products need to be distributed from the US.
Nah, no matter how you swing it, it does seem a little off.
I understand that Kickstarter is a US based thing, and yet, it seems they are happy to accept money from anywhere in the world.....I hasten to add, this "rant" is at Kickstarter not Studio McVey.
Perhaps a good will gesture from Studio McVey to its UK supporters would be to "arrange" something to close out the excessive costs associated with being a UK citizen.....I mean, after all, they've gone way beyond their original project funding price....give a little love back to your UK fans.
(Before anyone says it, NO I haven't pledged any funds!!)

Problem is, once they start offering UK shipping, every other European customer (like myself) would request a shipping option from UK as well. Not only should that bring down shipping cost, but customs would also be avoided. I really I don't see this happening.
Since it looks like a fun game and I'd like to support McVey I have pledged at Biohazard level. Seeing the game become a better product through upgrades like the plastic markers stretch goal makes pledging worthwhile imo.

$25 for shipping world-wide is a bargain when compared to other companies out there shipping across the pond. Just so long as the parcel won't be intercepted by customs and given a hefty taxation because of the extras..

It just doesn't seem right that a game being designed by a UK company is being sold at a higher price to UK residents. CMON should swallow the shipment costs to get the product here in bulk and distribute from McVey HQ.
Panic.
That's a good one!
As it is, so far you're 'only' really missing out on the 12 additional figures - figures which may not actually have a use in the game.
Someone else already pointed out how it might actually be cheaper to get the game when it is released in the UK!
This successful Kickstarter (provided they don't pull it for some unknown reason at some later date, of course!) means that the game WILL happen - thanks to a lot of fans around the world, but maybe mainly in the USA...

well if you break down the cost of the bits included its still stupidly cheap
the game in the UK will cost you £63.76 +£15.94 p+p
minus the cost of a patch say £4
and the cost of the ltd ed kara fig say £10 {the 35mm ones are £12.99}
the signed print of the cover art {not sure on the size ..lets say A4 } £5
if we make the plastics 50% of the cost of the resin/metal ones then we have..
Vanguard miniatures
•Kara =£3.25
•Morgan =£3.25
•Akosha =£2.99
•Drone Tank (50mm base) about the same size as a carapice =£10.50
•Male Samaritan with Laser Rifles x 12 = £3.99 ea
•Female Grenadier x 2 = £3.99 x2
•Male Reaver Heavy x 2 = £3.99x2
•Female Lancer special x 2 =£3.99x2
TOTAL =£91.50
Strain miniatures
•Phase 1 - 1 Big arm x 7 =£4.50
• Phase 1 - 2 Claw hand x 7 =£4.50
•Phase 2 - 1 Stalker x 4 = £4.99
•Phase 2 - 2 Quasimodo x 4 = £6.50
•Phase 3 - 1 Scythe Witch x 2 = £6.50
• Phase 3 - 1 Brimstone (50 mm base) x 2 = £8.50
•Phase 4 Grendlr (50mm base) = £12.50
•Phase 5 Cthonian (50mm base) new but same size as grendlr = £12 .50
TOTAL = £163.96
PLUS the strech target +12x vangard = £47.98
so this comes to £325.43
plus you get all the tokens .tiles and the game its self....

No new stretch goal yet, but a splotlight on the tiles...
Update #4: Sedition Wars tile design
Posted about 1 hour ago We are just pitting the finishing touches on a couple of the tiles, but I thought we would give you a sneak peek.
There were a few different routes we could take with the tiles. When we did the alpha rules we created a poster map that was rendered in a hi-tech blue-print style. While I loved it, it wasn't quite the look I wanted for the finished game. I wanted the tiles to be rendered in a 'realistic' style that made you think you were looking at a real location. I wanted to present Alabaster Station as a definite place - a secret facility that the Strain nano-virus has ravaged and swept clean. The virus consume all organic and non-organic material it comes across - re-purposing it into part of the construct.
In the course of my career, I have been lucky enough to become friends with some incredibly talented people, and the person who did the art for these tiles is one of the most gifted artists I know. Rich Wright worked on a wide variety of products for GW - he did the tile art for Warhammer Quest and Space Hulk 2nd edition, along with most of the 40K vehicle cover paintings in the mid nineties. Since then he's produced matte painting and 3D work for a wide variety of well known projects - the intro scenes for Motorstorm, Muse Sing for Absolution video, and many other high profile projects.
He built the tiles for Battle for Alabaster completely in 3D - lighting and rendering them just as you would with any vfx shot, then importing them into photoshop and adding details, weathering and blood stains. I really love the results.
We purposely kept the designs pretty clean and futuristic - Sedition Wars is a high-tech universe so we wanted to steer well clear of any dark and gothic elements. I didn't want them cluttered with furniture and details - partly because all that would have been consumed by the virus, and partly because it would interfere with game play.
There are ten different tiles, and one transit network car (that's a train!), so that gives you a wide variety of different board set ups. What the pictures here don't really show is the size of the tiles - each is 12x12 25mm squares, so they are 350mm square (including borders) - pretty big! You can link them together in a lot of different ways - creating many different settings for games.
The ones I have shown here are the Cargo Bay, the Personnel area, the Engine Control Room and the Transit Car (you get two of these - there is an awesome scenario that needs both of them).
I hope you like them!

The guy who did Hulk 2nd Ed and Quest? Awesome!

I wonder how the scenarios are set up. Do the scenarios each have pre-set force builds (ala Space Hulk) or do you customize your own forces through some kind of point-buy system? If that's the case, then an extra 12 troopers could do quite a bit to add flexibility to the scenarios.
At the moment, I don't think we know much one way or the other.
The miniatures have a point cost and you buy them with the budget given in the scenario. Some Campaign scenarios have specific characters involved - so you might start with Kara and get 40 points to spend on whatever else you like.
mike Automatically Appended Next Post: Hey Guys
Sorry I haven't specifically answered any questions on UK shipping - I haven't been ignoring them, we have just been trying to figure out what we can do about it.
I know it's a little weird that UK shipping is more for a UK designed product. Here are the facts of the matter.
The game is being manufactured in the Far East, and shipped to the US for distribution. We are looking into shipping a portion of the production run straight to the UK (time to start looking for a warehouse space, I don't think our attic studio will take it!) - but to do that we need we need to gauge what interest from the UK is like. The only way is will make sense is is we are sending a reasonable portion of the run here - if it's only a few boxes, it just won't work.
It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation. People want cheap shipping before they order, and we need enough orders for it to make sense.
Believe me - I want to have this product in the UK, so I can sell it from my store once it releases!
I'm looking into actual shipping costs today - it's going to be a large and heavy box. It's 36cm x36cm x 8cm, and will weight quite a bit.
Please bear with me and I'll get you answers asap - we are trying to get this sorted out.

Well, for what its worth, if you do manage to get part of the shipment to go to the UK you can count with another order at least (mine), as it stands, what's stopping me from pledging right now isn't the extra 25$ shipping, its the amount that I would have to pay on top of that if the package was stopped by customs!

Agree with this. If it was definitely just $25 it wouldn't be a big deal, but the risk of having to pay another £25-50 to get it through customs is what is stopping me contributing. If there was a UK option, I'd definitely be in for the Biohazard level.

The miniatures will not be on sprues - but bagged as they are produced.
We definitely have plans for releasing the miniatures separately at some point - no firm date in that though, just concentrating on the game at the moment.

I was just about to ask about the sprues, thanks for reading my mind and answering ahead of time I just remembered reading that there was some assembly required with the figures.. will they mostly be single-piece sculpts and you just stick the figure on the base? Or will some have a few parts to stick together (and be good for conversions)?

I might chip in for the miniatures as it gets closer to the end. I'd like to see more about the game play because the tiles (while beautiful) appear to just be open spaces for the most part. More info on movement and combat in the game would help me to decide. There is a good chance I will get this game just for the miniatures (like Zombicide) especially if they add more models as stretch goals. Good gameplay would be a nice bonus though... :-)

The piece count varies - I tried to keep it to a minimum without compromising the dynamics. The Vanguard troopers are 2-piece models, the two Strain phase 1s are single piece as is the Quasimodo (the one with a gun growing out of it's back. The Scythe Witch is two-piece, the Brimstone is 5 piece (I think - there were some changes due to tooling), the three Vanguard characters are 3-4 parts each. The Cthonian is five parts and the Grendlr is quite a few more... I just didn't want to compromise the Grendlr at all.
The multi part ones have been engineered to fit together easily though - with some of the parts being push-fit.
We have plans for Stretch goals past 80K.... I just can't believe we are nearly there after four days!
