And further progress on the fighta: (few more pics up on my blog)

Daka's not finished as I got side-tracked by rivets, just needs some detailing and ammo-feeds for the hull dakka. Crew section just needs a few air-tanks and wires behind the pilot and navi-gunner.

Then final engine mounting, few more details, decide if I can fit working undercarriage to it, and then look at the base.

Keep it coming meks

I have an old great gargant I scratch-built about eight years ago, and have been meaning to update him for some time with a full overhaul. I would basically be converting my own scratch build. Is that ok?

I plan on making him into terrain with each part being built in its own section of a huge factory, but I would be building each piece in such a fashion as it could be assembled and used in Apocalypse.

That fighta looks amazing! The steering looks rather "in progress", perfect for a grot pilot... he is the pilot, right? So cool!

He's the closest thing to a pilot that the fighta has GG

And yep, engine comes from the valk.

Interesting idea pox

That Fighta looks really good so far monkeytroll.

And as for my model, well I received my Krusher track from bloodandskullsindustry on ebay, so work shall commence shortly. The bad news is that I still have not amassed enough funds for my large plasticard/rod purchase i figure a week and a half more and i will have enough. I also believe that I will have to order additional track as I don't think i ordered enough the first time (though finances played a large roll in that).

I agree, that not only looks good so far, but its very original. Ive never seen a bomma look like that before

30 or 40 thou is usually good. Sorry, I'm not sure of the Metric unit on those, but I think the packaging lists both Imperial and Metric measurements. Also, if you can find 10 or 15 thou, it's great for making flags, banners, sails, etc. It has a bit of a learning curve, but the results IMO are nice.

So yea, I was hoping to have some progress pics up soon, but I haven't made any progress to speak of. Oh well, I'll get there.

What imperial measurement is it?
I could find out what it is in metric

I find 1mm good for small work, 2mm for larger. I have some 4mm, but it is hellish to work with... I have some 0.25mm which is great for flags, banners, sails etc - also for easy curving - it is almost paper thin. I also find it useful for raised designs - a bit like etched brass. (And you can cut it with scissors which is sometimes helpful too...)

Ok, so then 1, 2 and 0.5 are good?

Well they sound PERFECT

My bad. I forget that not everyone shares my quirky system of abbreviations. Thou is short for thousand. So 30 thou to me means 30 thousandths of an inch. Same goes for the 40 thou, 15 thou, etc. Though it seems you got the measurements you need, so all is well. Good luck with your plasticard.

I saw that, but I wanted to clarify. Just here to try and help.

Alright so, lessons learned: #1: Super glue doesn't like to stick to Wal-Mart plastic "drink stirrers". #2: Super glue also doesn't like PVC that much either. And last but not least, #3: While #2 may be true, super glue DOES enjoy sticking skin to PVC. The hole in my left thumb can attest My kanz are fighting me already. Hopefully they'll take that fighting spirit to the gaming table. Kan #1, my test model, is progressing nicely. I just have to plug the top and add the rokkit launcha. I'll get a pic or two of him up when he's more complete. I'm feeling a nice, simple rokkit-on-a-stick style launcha, similar aesthetically to an RPG-7. And once I get this first one done, I'll be able to streamline the process to assembly line the other 8. My Dredz will be pretty simple too, since they're basically the same thing. I'm still hunting my apartment for the cans that I'm basing my Dredz on. I swear I saw them when I didn't need them..... Same story with the track sets for my Grot Tanks. I've got 3 planned, but no bitz to speak of... Oh well, that's the story of my life. Anyway, as I said, I should have some pics of Kan #1 up by the end of the week, but no promises. Keep up the good work, my fellow Meks.

Well, I cracked open a box that hasn't been opened for close to two years. All my unfinished projects and large bits, crammed into a huge box for easy moving.

There's nothing quite like showing off the size of yer'gargant by pointing out that other tanks are packing stryofoam for it.

I made this behemoth for the original Vehicle Design Rules. (if you don't know, ask a graybeard.) He was completed within four months of the VDR white dwarf, and then was retired for many years. When apoc came out he again saw a few fights, but 3,500 points is quite a lot, and I want him to be seen more often then the occasional 10,000+ fight.

I want him to hit the table a wee more often then once every few years, and I dont want him to show his age anymore. To do this, I'm gonna turn him into terrain, but do it in such a way where all the pieces can be assembled into a usable Great Gargant.

I have updated many of my older models, and when it's time to field them again I break them out and use all my current skills to update them with a fresh, new look.

As an example here my Skullhamma, done around the same year as the Great Gargant. It was designed using the VDR rules also.

Here is the "converted" model, done about three years ago after Apocalypse came out. I overhauled it, and armed it to match the current rules for a Skullhamma.

My plan for this challenge is simple.

1. cut the Great Gargant apart.

2. Design the Mek factory that is building the beast.

3. re-imagine the entire model from the ground up, and build it into the factory terrain.

4. Figure out how to assemble and disassemble the beast, so I can use it as a Great Gargant or as factory terrain!

Piece of cake.

Nice Skullhamma Pox. Love that barbed wire wrapped around the front.
Gargant looks a bit of a beast Very interested to see where you go with that.
And are those mono-wheel trukks I spot in the box? If so, very nice, and bah, there goes another idea I thought was original
I'd just started looking for suitable wheels

And update for the fighta(slightly different pics to those on my blog):

Crew compartment finished, maybe just a bit of GS to smooth a few corners out. Dakka all in place, Fairly sure that's the top done, maybe a few wires after painting.

Thanks for the comments guys, glad the other meks approve

And if it reminds you of a tie-fighter that's good enough for me, that's a classic bit of kit. However, I'm now wondering what you'll think of whatever those solar panels I have lying around eventually end up in

Thanks, I always loved the rolling fortress look of the old artwork, so I took it pretty literal. They are in fact monowheel trukks, I've only updated one of the six. here's a link to the very old thread about it.
