I found the game worked pretty well with the v1.0 rule set,

and a lot (not all) of the criticism was based on people trying to exploit the ruleset/language (now I know there are people who do so, and if you were playing strangers it would be an issue but in friendly gaming groups I didn't see the problem)

the v2.0 ruleset is pretty different (not necessarily bad thing), and gives the game a very different feel but they really should have addressed the scenarios at the same time

The bit I'm most disappointed by is the non-appearance so far of the solo rules as I have very limited access to others to play with. I hope that the they have priority over the rules for the AoS expansion, as unlike the minis (where it was just a case of commissioning sculptors then sending the stuff off to china) there would be a clear completion for Rob (& now BGGs) time and effort.

The lack of communication doesn't really bother me (a bit more would be nice, but meh), stuff coming late won't arrive any sooner by us being told it will be late.

but it's beginning to sound like part of the roadblock may be CMON (with studio mcvey having to clear stuff they say through them)... I don't know for certain if this is the case, but IF it is I bet others signing contracts with them in the future will need to think long and hard about the terms

Actually, if you ordered through the Kickstarter, I suspect you do NOT have everything you paid for. I know I sure as heck do not.
I mean it such that I paid a certain amount, and expected "decent" quality. I got "very good" quality. The bang-for-buck on this Kickstarter was great.

I didn't mean it as "I got everything I paid for". I haven't (but I'm confident I'll get it eventually).
I meant it as "Everything I got so far, I paid for and received at a quality well beyond what is common for the cost in miniatures." Eventually, resin stuff will come, and I'm thinking and hoping it'll be on-par with the Biohazard resin Kara, and that'll be even better. $5 for a single high-quality resin mini is a great price!

Is this mess supposed to ship in two waves, or three now?

I think it's still just a second wave, somewhere (hopefully) this year haven't heard anything about further splits (and given the extra shipping cost that would incur, it'd seem unlikely for sure).

Ok, I think it's best if I post this here instead of News and Rumours as most of these will be for the Kickstarter only and not general release. An update from Mike:

Hi guys

Official update on production.

I'm still waiting to find out when the miniatures are going to ship from China.

I know that is not what you want to hear - and please believe me, that is not what I want to say. It's hard to get across just how difficult it is to see something on which you have worked so hard, disappointing and disenfranchising the people who have invested their hard earned money on. Delivering the second wave of rewards to backers is my number one priority - as it always has been, but the sad truth of the matter is it's largely out of my hands. Once I have handed off the masters and print files, it's up to the production company to deliver the goods. All I can do is rant, rage and beg to try and get straight answers and accurate information - both of which are in woefully short supply.

Here's what I can tell you:

We delivered all the masters for the sculpts at the start of the year.
I have approved all the resins of those masters (a vital pre-production step).
I have approved all plastic production samples of those masters - meaning all that was left to be done was to refine the mould lines and produce the required quantity.
The print files for cards were delivered on time.
I approved proofs of all print components.
Printing is complete.

What I am struggling to get information on, is if the plastic production run is complete, or still ongoing. It's a reasonably short part of the process - just a week or two, but I don't know if they are done or not.

As for other rewards:
The Quarantine campaign: This features quite a lot of the wave 2 characters - so there is no point sending that out until the miniatures and cards are in your hands.
The painting DVD: The footage is all done (it was a great deal more work than we anticipated), and Ali and I are very happy with the results. The shots are very clear, and will hopefully be useful. We plan to put out some clips pretty soon.
Solo play rules: Still under development. It will go out as a Beta release when it's ready. I hope that is pretty soon.

That's all I have for you. I'm going to request that an official update is sent out asap too, but we have been waiting on firm information before doing that. What I don't want to do is say X date, and then proved to be a liar (again).

mike

Here's a shot that I compiled featuring all the wave 2 reward miniatures - this will go out in the next official update, but I thought I'd post it here first.

The only things that are missing from this image, are the small drones. They are done too though.

Painting DVD update

Update #97 · Jun 18, 2013 · 1 comment

The footage for this is now being compressed from 18 gigs to something more manageable, and will be delivered in HD 720p on data DVDs in mp4 format. Most modern DVD players will be able to handle this format without issue (including consoles), or you will be able to view it on your computer either using the native players or via Videolan VLC Player (http://videolan.org), a freeware multi-format player.

While you'll get a physical disc containing the painting guide, for those of you who prefer it you'll also be contacted via email with links to download it. Do take note that it'll be fairly large, probably taking up about 4 gigabytes of harddisk space or more.

I guess that's one of them

Man, jealous that you've got one of those early Karas!

My resin Phaedrus is on the way, but, really liked both old Karas, esp. since they narratively fit together

I own several Karas. Accidentally purchased 4 or 5 of the second version due to a CMON shop F-up.

Been doing some late Spring cleaning and found out at some point I purchased all the old metal minis. Don't remember doing so. Remember seeing the game a year or so before the kickstarter and initial thoughts were if it ever went beyond a work in progress I would take more interest in it.

the smaller miniatures have seemed to keep their size rather well. while larger seemed to have shrunk a bit.

I assume the material used is not very forgiving in hefty sized minis.

I didn't put two and two together realizing the Phaedrus that you were showing was supposed to be the same character that was a KS exclusive or whatever. Crazy.

...then I saw her in the middle of that monstrosity. Awesome.

There's no way I'll be able to paint that thing in a manner that would be worthy of all that detail in the sculpt.

Maybe we will see more on that expansion in the future...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

There are 4 versions of Phaedrus - Hexen Phaedrus, Proto Phaedrus, Phaedrus Chirurge and another - we have seen pictures (however small) of all 4.

Look at the picture that was taken of the AoS stuff again, do you see a miniature that has some similarities to Chirurge

and why am I suddenly posting from Austria?

I'd say it was the slightly green one with the long wavy hand (or behind the big gob strain at the front).

I'd humbly suggest that this particular expression is not the best to lead a Youtube video intro with.

Yep, we should be getting physicals as part of Wave 2. Also, they're looking at providing a downloadable version

Just spotted this posted by DaveC:

Just checked the CKPM it now has an unlock option - Yellow box bottom right of screen (like the Relic Knights one)

https://ckpm.coolminiornot.com/login

You can unlock your CKPM and add the following only:

Terrain Set $30 per set
Updated Rulebook $3

There are no other options available, you can not change your pledge in any other way (it's all greyed out)

Checkout with Paypal as before.

Remember to hit Save changes and Confirm order if you unlock it even if you don't add anything extra as it remains unlocked and it may delay your shipping if it remains unlocked. Check the green confirmed icon shows on the summary page.
