I don't think those are DA, I don't recall DA ever having white on their shoulder pads.

Those are just the big raised Tactical Squad markings that those snap-fit models have, aren't they?

If it's a starter set, generally speaking yes? But why not Ultrasmurfs? Strikes me as odd that does.

The paint set always has the same models as the system starter set... I consider this 100% proof that Dark Angels are going to be in the 6th edition starter.

Seeing how there are 2-3 "official" Raven Guard paint schemes between the main rulebook and C: SM (and Forge World).
I think the possibility of these being Dark Angels and GW screwing up their own paint scheme is there

Markings can change. From a background perspective, the Codex astartes recommends a chapter changing markings every now and then to confuse an enemy. I never bought the Macragge set but didn't the transfer sheet for that have small tactical arrows for the shoulder pads that were off centered?

White makes the symbols pop more against the dark green background, It's only the deathwing that use red I thought. Check the GW transfer sheets that come with marine stuff these days as the symbol has indeed been red before. They just like messing with our minds so we will debate on online forums and give them publicity.
I guess the wall of silence is indeed good for something. Kroot you are officially one of the funniest members of dakka with the NDA remark now!

Back in the day I used to paint my Dark Angels exactly like they'd show up in the White Dwarves. They used to have white arrows and red arrows. I don't have a problem at all believing those green marines are our beloved DA's, especially with the red bolters that no one else but them do (in combination with the DA Green armor that is).

Striktly speaking, original Dark Angels had black armour anyhow. Green was already a ret-con (with, admittedly, a creative inclusion of the old, black DA in their fluff).

Ugh, I hate bright red bolters on DA. Makes them look like Xmas trees.
To answer the questions above, DA use different tactical symbols than Ultras. Ultras use the "pointing up" arrow, and DA use a horizontal with arrow heads on both ends. Like this: <--->

They're definitely DA, but I'd like to point out that the 3rd ed DA book also had examples of them using black guns.

Don't need to go back that far. Current GW Website features DA painted in both variants.

Aye looks like the arrows have gone from red to white, unless the arrows where codex, and all the old GW figures where 3rd company.

Current GW Website features DA painted in both variants. Good to know. I honestly don't go to GW's site anymore. Also, the 3rd ed book answer is so ingrained into my responses when people ask why my DA have black bolters instead of red. It's harder to explain why my 4th Company has gold trim on their shoulder pads(box cover of Dark Millenium, incidentally, they also have black bolters there) cause so few people these days played 2nd ed.

And thanks to that change, a new lad in the shop asked why my Ultramarines (yellow trim) were painted incorrectly when they should be gold. My polite answer was "These were painted before you were born". Mind you I think one of the most recent guides gives the options for either flat colour or metallic colour for shoulder trims so 2nd Company is yellow or gold.

Nice, I hadn't even seen the Dark Millenium cover in a decade. My DAs are green with gold trim too. I got really inspired after the 4th edition vanilla codex went from yellow to gold trim on the Ultrasmurfs. So I did the same thing on my Darkies, DA green and gold over Tin Bitz trim looks every bit as awesome as I had hoped it would. As I didn't have my own precident for the paint scheme at the time I reasoned that they were the "12th company" from the time DAs were legion sized. Of course I think when they were legion sized they rolled black armor....it could have that slice of time after the DA civil war but before the legions were broken up. Yeah, that's what I go with. And I also roll robes out in a 2 out of every 5 ratio. Yahoo!!

Yeah, those are Dark Angels, whether the image was photoshopped or not...they have been studio painted with both red AND white squad markings in the past. The tac-squad symbol is a double headed arrow on its side, like Ozy mentioned above...
When I win the lottery I will be getting a bunch of those Forgeworld Deimos pattern rhino and MK VI Corvus marine conversion kits to make a Dark Angels Legion force in all black!
