Hello!

So, been working on some elevated roadways, a single straight section and a 90 degree corner.

Love on an elevated highway indeed

How tall are these compared to the fortress walls? Could you for example run a highway over the fortress set single height wall (without extended double height wall section in place)?

I have a cool picture of an elevated highway crossing an abandoned hive zone and entering a fortified zone with extra height watchtowers/gateway protecting it...

I would reccomend putting a cross-brace between the 2 supports, so each set of legs is a H shape.

As much as that would improve stability, I think that it would somewhat ruin the look.

I think it would improve the look.. it seems too spindly atm.
Like it'd fall over in a stiff breeze, certainly wouldn't survive traffic or troop movements.

1 or 2 cross bars will improve stability and make it look more.. real.

yip!

Bracing will be added as options I think at the moment. Also I drew them so the legs 'slot in' so there are no single massive pieces of MDF material. If that makes sense!

I'll add the fort in later, working on my laptop which might die if I added the fortress into the scene.

I took reference from Chicago's L train and other steel structures so there is a bit of familiarity to them already - the images I looked at (Google images ) had them without the bracing, and some areas with the bracing...so I thought i'd follow that aesthetic.

I gotta sort out the regular ( none elevated road ) and also some ramps so stuff can acctually get there in game! I was thinking of some method of suspending the mr pods from below the road sections or something along those lines

How big are the gaps between the struts? Would be awesome if you could drive an LR under the road, or a rhino at the very least.

Having your pods dangling sounds pretty fun

Does anyone have basic measurements of a rhino or chimera? The measurement between each foot is 133 and that's the narrowest part at the base.

This bracing would I guess would stop a tank getting between the legs. So You could always leave one clear like in the third pic. the bracing is a simple sketch and could be developed further....

Would you be able to add the bracing directly under the roadway to allow extra room for stuff to pass underneath?

Personally I think the braces make it look a bit too busy as is.

Thanks for the link, but they read small can you confirm those sizes? anyone?!

I could turn those braces into a walkway for civvies or something

Anyway, detail is always the last thing to include once everything is as it should be

Now all you need is a bridge piece (Baneblade width would be good, but otherwise wide enough for your ground road... or two...)

You also need to be able to get your hand in under or over the braces to pick up any minis cowering underneath.

Damn! I'm a sucker for pretty CAD drawings. I'll need to start saving some pennies! For your models and to get a computer that can run something better than sketchup.

Hi Ed, that latest render looks brilliant, it's a bit hard to work out the width of the road though - - are we looking at a narrow one way road or a two way ? If it is too narrow it looks kind of like a fortress wall walkway rather then a practical road.
On the plus side if you can get the low level road to seamlessly fit with the high level then you are looking at an awesome product that deserves to do really well.

To be honest i think that without the supports they look fine, otherwise to me they look as a little too much.

However that being said they look amazingespecially with the road coming underneath it, any chance at some on and off ramps and maybe some service stairs for infantry?

DEAR SHOE,

THAT'S RIGHT YOU ARE A SHOE. THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT NOT BEING A SHOE BECAUSE IN MY MIND YOU ARE ONE AND THAT IS MOST UNFORTUNATE.
AS LONG AS I HAVE YOU CONCEPTUALIZED AS A SHOE IN MY IMAGINATION YOU SHALL REMAIN AS SUCH.
THIS MAKES ME WONDER WHETHER ALL PEOPLES AND OBJECTS CAN BE CONCEPTUALIZED AS SHOES AND THUS BECOME SUCH, GRANTING ME ABSOLUTE POWER OVER THEM. DO YOU HAVE A CLEVER ARGUMENT? NO YOU DON'T, YOU"RE A SHOE. SHOES CAN'T HAVE CLEVER ARGUMENTS.
I FEEL LIKE THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD HAS BEEN LIFTED OFF MY SHOULDERS NOW THAT EVERYTHING IS UNDER MY CONTROL, NOW THAT YOU ARE ALL SHOES. I NO LONGER HAVE TO ANSWER TO MY REGRETS AND PAST MISTAKES BECAUSE THEY ARE SIMPLY SHOES.

Nice, i liked the old supports but i agree these are better for gameplay, in fact, they look better too. Good job.

I dropped you guys a message, it's low priority so i sent it via personal message on dak. I'll get in touch via email later in the year.

Oh man, so i've been thinking about your clear resin bases again. Is their a definitive response from GW staff as to whether they can be used in store? If GW welcome it then i may reconsider buying the set i inquired about. Hmm...

Looking good on the new supports - much, much sturdier, I believe they'd survive now

From what I recall, GW staff don't really care about the base. I know at my local GW there's people using other companies resin bases.

It's primarily the model that needs to be GW, the base can be anything so long as it's the right size.
