I change all of my GW paints to dropper bottles. Worth the $.33 each to do it. Allows me to keep the paint longer than using the GW pots. Same with my P3's. Dropper bottles are what all paint should be in for this hobby.
And my Badab Black does smell slightly sharper than Devlan Mud. Interesting. Automatically Appended Next Post:
Those pics are on one of these last few pages already. Thanks though.

For dropper bottles:
http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=44774&catid=530
I'm sure they ship across the pond. Granted the 15cc ones have been on backorder since I started linking them here.
Dear Dakka: QUIT BUYING ALL MAH BOTTLES!!! I need another 50 of them and you all keep taking them!

Its a trap? Perhaps they are selling the old paints cheap? Or like you said maybe one of the boxes are limited, also possible would be a painters masterclass set like before, with the bolter casing water pot to celebrate the launch of the new range.

Good thing I waited to start my Fantasy Dark Elves army. I would've been screwed if I bought paint from the old range and had to switch to the new. I have the colour scheme (purple/bluish-green/light blue) in my head, I'll just need to get the new paint for it.
In the meantime, I hope I have enough Space Wolves Grey, Astronomican Grey and Fenris Grey to finish my Space Wolves army.

They're going to drug you and sell you to a foreign legion "recruiter". You'll wake up on a ship at sea.

its more likley limited stock of the new painting book, cd and guide etc. I'm going down for curiosity. I personally doubt the likelihood of a fire sale for all the old paint ranges....

I had a hunch that they might be doing this. ie pre-watered down for the layers. This is a great idea for those that haven't learned how to thin correctly, like most of their target customer base, but for those of us that can actually paint it is an insult of a joke. Selling us water... While I will of course be sampling them next time i'm in my store, if this is true, then I for one will not be buying into this 'convenience'.

You are not normally meant to use it straight from the pot?
Looks like I've been doing it wrong the whole time
Funnily enough, I never found the need to thin my paints either, except for the very old pots.

Last time they changed paints, the closest Games Workshop stores I know of were giving the old paints away to anyone who walked threw the door. (The black top bottle ones.)

Watered down to make the bulk manufacture go further? to make a little extra money? Or to help the (target market) children who don't know about layering their paint yet, to get an even paint layering effect?

Thats a good, point, GW will issue the "destroy order" on all the old paints.
|
Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!
