Had a test game between Chaos Space Marines and mechanized Grey Knights. Trying out Epidemius-Chaos versus a more competitive army. Also testing out mech in 6E.

Really enjoy your battle reports, I would love to see what your Tyranids can do against a well made Imperial guard army though. I noticed you dont have any battlereports against very shooty armies, which seem to be the more competetive of army lists around.
I myself mainly play Tyranids and Orks, and would love to see more battlereports against Imperial Guard and Space Marines!

I will try to get a game in next time against an IG or Space Marine army. While there are several good SM players in our area, the IG players here are not as competitive. Heck, I'm probably one of the more competitive IG players here and I haven't even touched my IG in a while.
Anyways, the next battle will be Chaos again. After that, then probably the bugs.

Be nice to see a battle of bugs against Fate Flamer Deamons. Was a pretty good matchup for me a month ago. Flamers had the ability to alpha strike my gargoyles and Tervigons. I was able to offset the threat to my Tervies somewhat by screening with gaunts/spawned gaunts and pushing them away or into a mishap. Gargoyles recieved FNP and Telekenise Dome for some protection. Once dropped I was able to sacrifice a spawned gaunt squad to get either my Tervie or Gargoyle survivors into assault. I still lost the game (emporers will), but it was pretty close.

Actually, I did have 2 encounters against daemons with my bugs:
2K - Bugs Come Out to Play. 1st 6E Tyranid Battle vs Chaos
2K of bugs versus 2200 of daemons, inlcuding Fateweaver and 12 flamers. Biovores were big in that battle.
Chaos Double Header Video Bat Rep: Reecius vs. Jy2, and Night Lords vs. 1,000 Sons
This game was against Reece's Chaos Space Marines with Tzeentch Daemon allies - 9 flamers and 9 screamers.
I also had another game between my 2K competitive wraithwing/tesla-spam necrons versus 2200 of Fateweaver daemons with 44 flamers! Should have done a battle report on that game. Lost almost all my wraiths and both my HQ's. However, I did manage to wipe out all his flamers and win the game.
I will probably have a rematch against the daemon player in the future. The key is to keep on spawning gants against them. Also, don't worry too much about his flamers getting the drop on your TMC's. Even at an optimal deepstrike, the most he can get is 3 or 4 templates on your big guys on the turn his flamers come down. That's 1-2 wounds at most. And now he's all clustered up and just ripe for your biovores (if you run them) to pick off. In any case, your focus-fire and assault should be able to wipe out the unit next turn (or close to).

I probably won't be able to play a guard player until 2 weeks later....so I may just play a practice game against my own IG army.
In any case, I'll definitely get in a game against IG sometime this month.

Another good test would be a list that Hulk brought to FOYCON:
I can't recall all the specifics but in general:
3 - Dreadknights with Heavy Incinerators
5 - Razorbacks with Heavy Bolters and Psybolt Ammo
2 or 3 - 10 man strike squads with 1 Deamon Hammer, Psybolt Ammo, and 2 Psycannons (or maybe it was 1-10 man squad and 2-5 man squads...memory is getting fuzzy).
2 - Inquisitor Henchmen Retinues with 3 plasma gun vets and 2 plasma cannon servitors
1 - Inquisitor in Terminator armor
1 - Inquisitor Coteaz
I recall that he beat the nid general who ended up in second place overall.

I prefer his striker-spam army but this build defintely has a lot of firepower and better mobility with the dreadknights as anti-assault units. Against a tyranid build like mine, for example, victory would depend on a couple of factors: 1) what type of psychic powers I get (i.e. Iron Arm would make it very tough for the knights indeed), 2) terrain, 3) first turn and 4) reserves (i.e. when the Doom comes in). Assuming that the skill level between the 2 generals is about the same and that dice is not too extreme, it really could be anyone's game. Grey knights are still very good and still very beatable. Tyranids are very good but are far from perfect.

Thanks for keeping up with the great reports.
I'm wondering how your Pandora list would do against a shooty Eldar army. The best tourney list I've used so far had somewhere around 70 str6 or higher shots (at 1850). I get the feeling your big bugs would face some trouble with something like that. I'd love it if you could get a test game against something like that.

There is a player in my area who runs a shooty Eldar army with Eldrad and 9 scatter-walkers. He's actually a member of Team Zero Comp though currently he is in the service of the United States Navy. He comes back once in a while. I'll try to get a game against him when he does.
BTW, 2 of our battles back in 5th edition:
2/18-12 - 2 Games with "Tremorcron" Necrons - vs Imperial Fists and Mechdar (Game #2)
3/16/12 - 1750 Rematch - "Tremorcron" Necrons vs War Walker Eldar
