Okay, I had to look up the "Zebedee" reference...

Today I:
1. Made up three Stikkbombz Chukkas - two magnetised for my original Trukks, one "place in" for the Twin Trukk.
2. Added an obligatory Dark Angelz Space Marine shoulder pad to the new Trukk gunners.
3. Did the Twin Trukk driver.

Pictures in somewhat different order... Drivers:

Close up of drivers:

There is a small piece of white plasticard on the new right driver (where the handle attaches to the steering mechanism). This is a piece of plastic with square stud on the "original" - but I can't for the life of me find/remember where that came from!

The gunner shoulder pads and twin stikkbombz chukkas:

You can just make out the two new magnetised stikkbombz chukkas on the Nobz and Big Mek Trukks

Catchya! (maybe again this evening!)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And for this evening's update... Grot Riggers!

Doing the photos, I've realised that I haven't got a good photo showing off those hammers... anyway - these guys are magnetised and fit like so - Grot Rigger 1:

Further out:

I've been planning that space under the gunner for a Grot Rigger for *ages* Grot Rigger 2:

... tumbleweeds ...

I blame appendicitis...

Anyway - I promised a better view of the Grot Rigger hammers - you don't want to think about how I made these...

Got my new 40K Anniversary model base. UPS - so presumably not extra cheap for GW to replace. *Much* better than the original, though apparently my photography skills are lacking:

Not see through like the last one. The helmet and skulls are smooth and I can even make out the shell casings! The Ork skull has a thin piece to the side and there is a large bubble in the main rock - but I can deal with those.

While I was on Grot Riggers, I figured I'd clean up a head and put it on the Big Mek Trukk Grot Rigger - only to find both his body and the Nobz Trukk Grot Rigger had been magnetised but not cleaned up, so rectified that:

And in their "natural environment" - Nobz Trukk:

Big Mek Trukk:

You can see the magnetised Stikkbomb Chukkas in both of those more clearly too... finally, because he was obscured by the Boarding Plank, a rear view:

Not so much tonight - need to make it an early one to make up for last night...

Catchya!

@endtransmission, Moltar, LostSoulCasey'sLaw, Gitsplitta, Rogue Wolves: Thanks!

@Imperial Monkey: The idea was that it was supposed to look like he was drilling the side of the Trukk. I'd guess removing the hammer might be a better first step, but removing the second barrel would also be an option. I'll mull it over/wait for additional feedback There is a lot of minor detailing I plan to do at the end, which this could be a part of.

I have an update and pictures, but it's off to bed with me - so you will all just have to wait until tomorrow (hopefully avoiding appendicitis!)

Catchya!

With the pistol gretchin why not drill the barrel and insert a plastic rod to act as the drill bit?

Not sure if the second barrel (isn't that the suppressor or something rather technical on a pistol??) would look right if it remained, I'd probably shave it off.

@mullet_steve: I think when I put the "pistol" Gretching together many moons ago I had planned to put an actual drill bit in there (one of my blunt ones) - but those bits don't cut down easy! So the next step was to magnetise him close enough to the vehicle side that you wouldn't see the drill bit anyway... I think I was worried a piece of plasticard rod would look more like a syringe than a drill bit... but, that was then. Everything (well almost everything) is always up for change before the painting starts

@spudkins: Thanks! Paint is still aways off (nothing new there....)

Right, so last night I finally got around to doing the other reinforced ram! This is our goal:

These are our requirements (well, I think I actually used a bit more - another rod size between those two and some 2mm plasticard strip....):

First we cut off the blades for the centre pieces. You can see some black pen on the others denoting where the smaller side pieces will be cut:

Like so:

We prepare where the holes are going to be drilled. (The top and bottom are easy to mark - just above/below the end plate and as central as possible!)

Drilled. All except the top two large holes were drilled at a slight angle, this is so the sides will look angled back a bit.

Some 3.2mm rod for size:

And three more. Also, 4mm for the top, and another for the bottom (will be stuck between). The original was all 4mm rod, but I wanted to make the side supports a little weedier this time.

Dry fit before cleanup - lookin' good!

Cleaned everything up and stuck the side bits together:

Laid down:

Then glued the middle connecting pieces:

Cut out some plates (I think the small ones were 0.4-0.5mm x 1.7mm, the large ones 2.5mm wide and 0.4-0.5mm or 1mm high) and stick on:

Attach some support struts (2.?mm rod - it has a 1mm hole in it). I used a circular file to create a good connection point for them. If you glue at a slight angle, the reinforced ram will lean slightly backwards. They don't need to be perfectly parallel - it will make them hold in place better - but pretty close!

And the attachment points:

Took the circular file to the underside of the Trukk in readiness for the attachment points:

Attached. (Actually, they are seen here after removing the reinforced ram, which was to make sure they were located correctly!)

As a Big Mek we follow the principle of measure once, cut twice! (The ram was too off centre, and well, the angle of the Trukk emphasized that more as well...)

Now in there final position:

Seemed a bit ramshackle, even for an Ork, so added some 2mm strip. (The original Trukk has a much more robust mechanism, but I didn't want to go to that much trouble again)

Finished result!

A bit more detailing to do still on both reinforced rams, but that must be, like 90% complete? (the reinforced rams, not the Trukks )

Catchya!

How about a thin roll of green stuff wrapped around the styrene rod to mimic the groove of a drill bit or even paint on a dark stripe on each side??? soo much cool stuff as usual sir I salute you and steal you ideas...

@Artsoldier35: Long time no read! Good thing you like it, given one of them will eventually get to you... Sometimes I make the mistake of thinking these things are too obvious...

@Goresaw: Thanks!

@Bangbangboom: Looking forward to seeing it elsewhere Yeah, you will find bits of Deffkoptas on almost all my minis I think! Very versatile kit that!

@slice'n'dice: Some more inspiration to add to the pool As much as I like to encourage new Ork Mek's, you are often better finishing your current projects first... Orks are neverending...

@Rogue Wolves: Thanks! Though I think I will be looking forward to doing some non Trukks after this...

Right, tonight's goal was to replicate/duplicate an exhaust for the other side of the Trukk. After much furious cutting, sawing and gluing, this was the result. not bad IMHO

And of course, attached to the Trukk (Boarding Plank down):

And just to check, Boarding Plank up:

I'm going to have to go back and complete/detail the other one (on the other Trukk) - it's looking a bit rough in comparison now... or should I duplicate another one and give you the "tutorial" treatment again?

Catchya!
