yeah,
Saw this mini by Kyle Morgan in WD and thought that the Ork servo skull idea would look great in your D'ork angels

That's actually a really cool idea. Took me a while to find it on the mini... but it is still pretty choice. Might come up with something like that for my big mek... just for an accent.

That's a really sweet idea.

@prototype_X: Thankfully, I returned to the hobby *after* this Trukk kit

@Panic: Good find! I had thought of an Ork servo skull idea, but completely missed seeing it on that pic - had to stare a while to find it! Now I won't be able to claim originality

Oh I'm sure you'll find a way of making it original. You always do

I finally remembered to update our vassal game too!

@endtransmission: Yay! Back at you!

Right, so Mr "I used to be an Empire General" Rokkit Launcha got some work tonight before the cat decided there shalt be no more...

He's looking rather tall/straight for an Ork... not sure about him yet... Feet are a bit wonky so that he will actually go into the cupola, though he doesn't seem to fit in my original Trukk... I could move the boots to directly under the knee joint, but I'd probably have to shorten the thighs as well...

Still, he doesn't look *too* bad in a Trukk, yelling "Drive me closer! I want to hit them with my Choppa!" (Does he realise the Nob has a Boarding Plank?)

Haha YES I love that idea for the launcher. It's sort of like a Deringer of rocket launchers...Only it also has 4 of them. And he's riding in a truck to shoot it.

Yes, that idea has been in the back of my head for a while. Probably not original though...

Anyway - finished this the first of three Rokkit Launchas for the original Trukks. He's still quite tall, but looking a lot better (and a lot less Empire General-y) IMHO:

Looks fine in the Trukk though (I think the Big Shoota's feet mustn't reach the step!)

Liking the Rockit launcha - pose looks good in the trukk

He looks a bit steady though for an ork riding in a trukk, especially one of your trukks that seem to go hurtling over terrain at every opportunity Not sure how you would model 'jostling about' though...

In all honesty i'm not feeling the newest gunners look, it seems a tad rigid. Don't get me wrong, kudos on the conversion work, it's brilliant, i just don't like where it took you in the end.
Anyway, if you decide to stick with him in that pose i'm sure i'll be converted when you work your magic and give him a lick of paint.

I think he's worked out well. The legs may look a bit stiff at the moment, but they are mostly going to be covered up by Trukk, so I don't think it's really a problem.

Great solution to your leg problem too!

Thanks for chiming in guys, your appreciation and critique are always welcome!

I think slice'n'dice and LostSoulCasey'sLaw may have hit it on the head - he is a bit steady/not jostling about/rigid/stiff - which probably isn't helped by his more upright stance (and leads to the "bit tall" thought...)

I'm not going to change him at this point - I do like other aspects of him - the brass etch on the Empire General thigh plates in particular - and who knows what a lick of paint might hide I currently have never run my Trukks with Rokkit Launchas, so it's not like he wil be in demand!

Instead, I am going to take on board your helpful advice for #2 and #3! It is all a learning experience after all!

So far, lessons learnt:
1) Do the Big Shoota/Rokkit Launcha at the same time - so far there hasn't been a really good substitute for the Big Shooter Boy body... (assuming we keep using the Trukk cupola of course - I have a few other ideas if I ever build yet another Trukk!)
2) The gunner should flow with the vehicle as well.

Let's see if I can successfully take this on board for #2 and #3...

Catchya!

If you want to fix this guy so he doesn't look quite so stiff, you could add something (a tall seat back/some armour/something else) behind him so it looks like he's being pressed into it by the vehicle's motion, or that he's bracing himself against it?

Or you could just swap the chainsword arm for an arm holding onto he Trukk or bracing himself?

Both excellent ideas. I guess I *will* be revisiting him tonight...

Glad you like'em!

Right, so we took off the Choppa arm and replaced with a "holding on" arm:

I feel it improves it a little... and began work on number 2 - the Stormboy body. As the Nobz Trukk (his target vehicle) is less dynamic, and reuse is good, he has taken up the Choppa arm...

Again, ignore the wonky feet - you can't see them in the Trukk... I still need to do something with his back where the Rokkit was meant to go - looking at a sword Choppa or Shotgun at the moment... Anyway - in the Trukk he goes:

And with the Armour Plates and Wreck'in Ball removed:

A lot more planning needs to go into these a lot earlier in the Trukk build in future...

The 'holding arm' does give the first one a better feel - I think the choppa suits the storm boyz one better too, as he's hunched forward a bit giving the impression of him leaning into the trukk (perhaps trying to get within choppa range?)

Really liking these guys - look forward to seeing more

Thanks everyone!

Right, today I decided to forgo the back sword or shotgun on Trukk Rokkit Launcha #2 - the sword seems superfluous given the choppa and the shotgun wasn't fitting too well - so we filed it down and added a glyph:

Then we got started on Trukk Rokkit Launcha #3 - here with top half and test fit on the first Trukk:

A different angle:

And here he is finished barring any helpful comments by you guys

And in the Trukk:

Oh, and I decided the back of Trukk Rokkit Launcha #2 was a bit too boring, so added some rivets!
