Rune fella is fantastic man, best model to date. I love how he sort of mirrors the empire wizards, only huge and more feral. The similarities really set off the vastly different tone and feel of the model.

Definately some awesome models and ideas you have here.

If the ogre range made by GW looked more like your stuff Id be buying an army of them for sure.

I reckon for the blue skin try something paler, I just cant get past the smurfiness lol.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I will admit, I have just given this thread a cursory glance. From that glance I've determined it is 100% Pure Win.

I had a similar idea for wanting to do a noble northmen army, Marauders but minus the chaos. Your Ogres, if you're calling them that, are phenomenal. I've always wanted to see some fit ogres, the idea of them all being gutsy and overweight really didn't sit right with me. (I know its their culture, but if you ask me its a lame culture)

Hey Peoples!

Couple of various updates today. First thing, it's my last week at the current nightmare hours job and I'll have some much needed time off next week to power through some of this army! So I'm pumped but anywho...

I have two more ogres in progress but they're in the frame state that you guys have seem before so I'll spare you until they look like something. But for the cool stuff:

That's my first experiment with converting Mournfang to a wolf. The size of the MF head is very small compared to the body so it was interesting making something lupine but also fitting in proportion with the rest of its massive body. So far he certainly looks wolf-like i think but large and beefy enough to plausibly carry a frosty. I think it's going well so far, obviously very rough but i thought i would show what i had so people don't get bored!

And a final shot of the Shaman:

Built out the mantle a bit more and added a bracer because i didn't like the wrist transition. A bit more done on the cloak to to a point where i think it looks good and paint will do the rest. He just needs some basing which I'll do after he's primed.

So that's all for now but i expect i'll be able to update with progress at a faster rate with my new schedule! Thanks guys, bring on the comments/critiques!

I love that shaman, just brutal.

Great work on that wolf head as well, you're making me consider using mournfangs as thunderwolves now! I would do it straight away, but i cant GS anywhere near as good as you.

I like the look of the wolf so far.

When I first saw the pics of the mournfang cav I thought they were rather bad. Just too awkward looking.

Shall be interesting to see what you do with the models.

You're just saying that because you fethed up the pose again and now you have two more Ogres that look like Captain Morgan.

The wolf looks pretty cool so far. At least much better than I could ever do one. Does this mean that you're going to put the Ogres on them like they "sit" on the regular Mournfangs? Or can we expect some conversions in the leg area?

Hahaha you bastard...

I plan to have them riding more like a horse rather than the current chair style. The leg area has always been the main section that i convert on these guys so it's a pretty safe bet.

Ah i crack myself up...

Face is almost done. Lower jaw teeth need some work and i need to transition the fur better. Im concerned the way i do my fur is going to clash with the Mournfang body fur when it's painted. Needs more spikey i think.

I'm going to start the paws at lunch, wish me luck!

I was just noticing that your fur is BETTER than the original fur. You (sigh) need to make your fur simpler, with larger 'tufts', to match the plastic.

Stupid cad/cam.

Still, lovely work as always!

Heh well thank you but yea i was afraid it was going to be noticeable. Maybe if i transition the simplicity? Like if i made his "cheeks" more of the tufts?

I think that if you build a transition layer behind the cheek ruffs, half your tufts, half spikey tufts, you'll be fine.

Your fur is BETTER.

Petey how many wolves are you going to have to make? Hopefully your whole next two weeks during your schedule transition won't be filled just with wolves.

Awesome thanks for the tips and confidence!

Anung Un Rama wrote:Oh, he looks so cute with the tounge hanging out of his mouth.

It was kind of intentional i guess, I don't want these guys looking evil so much. I wanted these wolves to have an intelligence to them too, not just snarling feral beasts. (those come later for gorgers if all goes as planned)

I'd like to have 4 Mournfangs (which is what the above is) in the stables so to speak and i plan t do a similar look for Sabertusks of which i thought 6 is probably enough for now.

I Like the way the fur is more detailed around the chops, it gives them a more refined look. as long as it blends at the last layer I think it should be fine, you're sculpt work seriously has me awestruck thus far.

I love the tongue and the big bushy eyebrows. The fur is looking superb. As for the transition to the plastic fur, have you tried starting the fur from the back and sculpting the tufts, moving from the neck to the nose as it were. Then you could go back and blend your style into it, starting toward the front and working back. I don't know if that would work (or makes sense even), but it's how I imagine it should work. Think of the plastic fur more as feathers... maybe?

ANYHOO- great work.

ps: love the avatar, Cottonjaw.

Crap I was supposed to do that for the last guy too. Rest assured it will be done!

So I'm not dead! My week off I side projected and built an 8x4 game table (winter themed of course)! The new job doesn't really allow for my forum habit so ill post pics tonight of that and my irongut WIP.
