Trans are your scorpions lighter or darker in RL? I only ask because I'm starting a black templar army and the shades you're getting in the photos look pretty close to what I'm thinking of.

Here are some pictures taken at Warhammer World. The lighting isn't ideal, but at least they are slightly clearer than the previous set of pictures...
Having said that, it's now very obvious that the shading/highlighting isn't great and needs to be worked on some more, as does tidying up things like the eyes and other details... darnit.
Yesterday I started work on my marine for Gitsplitta's Great Marine Swap. He's armed with a powerfist and plasma pistol and will, eventually, have some apothecary bits added to the powerfist.
I've just been playing with the Deathwatch Chapter Creation rules in Rites of War. I'd appreciate any comments on the proposed Red Scorpion starter rules over in the Roleplaying forum

Well, at least you've got a slightly easier journey to visit mecca than them there americans
[Update] Gits marine is now, I think, actually done and ready for an undercoat... which is a bit scary. He went together much more easily than I expected. Sadly my proper laptop is in work and I can't get any photos of the model to you all until tomorrow. I think he's very cool... I just hope that Gits thinks so too

Have no fear! If you look at the bits carefully arranged around the body in the photo above you can see the Deathwatch pad to the right (his right) of the body

Well you could use some of the stuff form IA4 for the flaws and whatnot, I would reccomend for a chapter like the Red Scorpions, it would almost be like playing a Black Templar, so a non combat centric feel I would hope.
Maybe they get a bonus to medicae tests, and can advance medicae at a faster rank.

In order to derail the citizenship conversation, I present to you the constructed version of Gits' sergeant
Click to get a better view. There are a couple of tiny bits of greenstuff cleanup needed, but it's pretty much ready for undercoating. I really like him; sadly I used up some of the parts that went into him, so I can't do the one for me that I was planning to do at the same time. Never mind hey
Just in case you're wondering, the thing on the back of his powerfist is supposed to be a narthecium type device. If anyone can think of a way to make it look slightly less autopistol and more narthecium, please yell!

I'm thinking maybe taking off the barrel and trying to create some sort of tiny drill to replace it might look better, but I'm not sure.
Looking at the photos I'm also a little concerned that it all comes too far forward and that he'd just break the narthecium if he punched someone with the powerfist...
I am, however, loving the Forgeworld sergeant upgrade pack with the bionics, powerfist and plasma pistol. They are so much better in person than on the website. Even the bolt pistols look nicer than the plastic ones.

On closer inspection I would just stick a drill bit or wire in what's there - or several from the other pieces as well...
Oh - and just buy more bitz! (I'm thinking of getting the Ork transfers after the masterclass - pity I didn't think about that while I was there...)

buy more bitz? Some of those bits require purchasing one of the forgeworld servitors! Gits is just lucky that I'd cut the arm off one to mount a heavy bolter

Lovely work, keep it up!
A drill bit (from a pin vice?) would look great in the "muzzle".
Btw, i cant help but feel the white helmets could do with a badab black wash in the crevices, they look a bit flat imo.

No worries on the bits, it's a pleasure to make him and station him somewhere useful.
Tonight I need to decide if I'm going to build more Scorpions, or try to get home in time to gloss varnish a tank to weather. Tricksy...

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!
"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
—Captain Khârn of the World Eaters Legion's 8th Assault Company, from his unpublished treatise The Eighteen Legions |

This weekend saw updates to my Red Scorpions and my Guard... so there are posts in both threads that cover these separately.
Two mini projects got started this weekend as far as the Scorpions go. First up was my Chaplain, who may or may not end up being called Murphy. I've yet to decide quite how he lost two arms, one leg and an eye... probably something Badab related.

And then I started on one of my dreads. I recently found myself with a second AoBR dread, which is a bit mono-pose... so I decided to start hacking him apart so I can make the legs a little bit more dynamic.
Here you can see an attempt at replicating the hydraulics for the lower half of the leg
One of the other problems with the monopose is that adding on the chassis mounted weaponry that comes with the Forgeworld arms is a little tricky. So I decided to modify the arms and mount them there instead.

There's a bit of battle damage on the DCCW arm, inspired by Gitsplitta's battledamage.
No painting has happened on git's GMS marine yet as I want to practice the greys on a few more models first, especially if I plan to try the airbrush for the first couple of colours.

Lookin' good endtrans. Man that scropion sculpt is serious business. I've debated seeing if I can snag the torsos for the basis of my vanguard as most don't have scorpion insignia on them (or it would be easily removed). Interesting placement of the secondary weapons on the arms, wouldn't have thought of that.

The torsos in the Loth kit are really nice. Loth himself is pretty easy to convert into something not Scorpion too as all the symbols on him are tiny and you can leave off the RS shoulder pad.
I was very tempted to use Murphy as an Inquisitor, but decided that at the moment I need a Chaplain more. I should probably have looked at the Codex before sticking him together though as I'm sure a bolt pistol isn't the most useful/common thing to arm him with. Any suggestions what I should change it to? is a Plasma pistol or combi-flamer any better?
I also just received Whalemusic360's Red Scorpion Venerable Dreadnought ( with twin linked heavy bolter / Missile launcher) today for the GMS. I'm a bit daunted by it... so pretty. So expensive!

Plas pistol is kind of my standard issue for characters that can have it as it packs a punch against heavy troops and light armor as well as giving the extra attack. Then again with my propensity to roll 1s I've lost more than my share of wounds to them.
I can imagine. I always swallow hard when I get something cool over GMS as it's a tall order to follow.
