Yep, liking that I'm a fan of the asymmetric look, just needs some grots and some whizz-bangs

Watching with anticipation as this is exactly how I would have done my first buggy - well - minus the grotz anyway

I vaguely remember seeing somewhere where someone had flipped the chassis over - which results in a lower to the ground buggy - but this is good too - very jeep like...

Looking forward to looting some ideas from here in the future... (again)

Gitsplitta: Thanks! Yep, I think the gunner and the spotter are both going to be over-the-top happy. And the new trukk has a lovely junkyard feel - it's a really nice model.

Vitruvian XVII: Thank you! And yes, it's more expensive then a buggy, but you pay as much for, say, a sentinel, and the old warbuggies are really goofy unless you extensively convert them - oh wait... . I feel that the truck is good value (for being a GW model anyway),and since I won't be using trucks I don' t mind shelling out for the one to have an additional unique vehicle.

Boyz "R" Us: Thanks and glad you like the orange .

Atre: wow, thanks . A lot of it has to do with the truck kit I feel; it's really nice and very orky.

monkeytroll: I agree, a lot more whizzbangs, but I need to get the basic shape first (piccie below). Once I got that down, it's addin' gubbins time!

Arakasi: Thank you! I did sonsider inverting the chassis (I held the damn thing in my hands for nearly ten minutes before deciding where to cut), but I liked the 4WD feel of this one, especially with the different-sized wheels that add a bit of cartoony racer-look. As for the looting: it's the greenskin way, I regularly drop by toget some inspiration as well - thought I felt doing the supsension thingy on this one would be making it very busy. If I ever build a truck though, I'll be studying your trucks

Now, just some small progress: I got the basic turret shape, and tried making a second chair shape out of plasticard. It's a bit large, so I'll probably make a smaller chair that fits in better. After that, it's gsing the chairs, building up the engine, and then adding gubbins and grots!

The gunner still needs a lot of detailing (and a head ) and a rokkit pack - I got a valk MRP lying around so that's a prime candidate.

A more substantial update this time around: I managed to finish the rokkit gunner and added most of the gubbinz. now it's adding more krew and grotting it up a bit

Piccies:

I'm not sure about the seats yet; I'll have to see how well they match up with a grot before deciding whether to keep them or not.

And a decent view of the grot gunner:

Enjoy!

Your ability to kitbash complete anarchy into sensical looking, orky and unique vehicles continues to astound... I often wonder if you visualize things before hand, or just grab a tub of bits and go at it... either way, awesome results

What were you planning for the space next to the Rokkit Launcha grot? I'd be inclined, given the size of the model, to lower the Rokkit Launcha into this space.

A bit of both really. The pic of a model will usually give me some inspiration, but it's only after I've held the sprues (and ideally built the kit once/blu-tacked it/ held the bits together) that I'll get going. To take the buggy as an example: I knew I wanted an additional buggy, that didn't look as goofy as the 20 year old GW one. Since I'd never used a truck (and don't intend to with this army), and that I want lots of unique vehicles, I figured this cool kit was too good an opportunity to pass up, especially since I could already see the 4WD vehicle in my head . After the basic concept is there, it's matching the visualization to available bits or improving my orginal concept thanks to the bits - the Valk MRP was one of those bits that helped here . When I started with the buggy, I didn't know how I would add the rokkits, but I knew I wanted them in the back to make clear that the passenger compartment isn't in use. It's only after I held the turret bits that I decided to use those. As another example my second (tracked) battlewagon was made because I had a set of tracks left over from my legged battlewagon, and because I liked the look of the FW Gorgon. While it's not a Gorgon, it wasn't meant to be, but I hope you'll agree that it's most definitely an assault transport . Biggerizing was simply the logical next step due to the size of the tracks and the fact that GW vehicles are tiny...

bra'tac: Thanks! Feel free to loot any ideas, I've been watching your thread with exactly the same intent!

Arakasi: No plans at all . I tried lowering the rokkits, but it didn't look right, and I couldn't find a second MRP in my bitz box to make it symmetrical, becasue then it could've worked. When flat-out to the side, it looked like it could fall off anytime instead of being precariously balanced and then welded on like it does now. I'll agree that it's no the most effective build from a gaming point of view, but it's definitely cooler . If you have any suggestions on how to make it look good lowered, I can always rip it off

Wow, lots of text, and a few pics, time to remedy that! Now, I didn't get any work done on the buggy (wife + son are ill :( ), but I did manage to finish off the battlewagon krew, something long overdue.

A pic before they were glued into place:

And in the battlewagon:

Unfortunately, the windows I made don't allow for enough light to enter, but I still thought this was a cool shot:

Now all it needs is a gunner for the other turret, because the current one was grabbed by a hungry mega-feline, never to be found... :(

I've got a few other unfinished projects to work on now (including the buggy), so lets hope I can get some stuff finished... Or maybe we should hope ADD kicks in again, I still have a stompa kit lying around...

Maybe put it on its own tripod stand on the other side. Perhaps even have it lower, but angled up like a mortar? Or just have it stick out sideways over the empty space - but with some extra support... Only suggestions really - it looks great as is.

Looking great ck... I used to paint gobbos back in the day purely because they have so much character... Def makes me nostalgic... You and proiteus are reall pumping out quality stuff in the 'field'!

I see you are plenty comfortable with the powders now too btw - I'm not sure I ever told you, but you can fix them without muddying them by using either mig pigment fixer or whit spirits... You just load your brush a touch, then touch it to the powders, they will suck it right out of the brush, and when dry, be stuck on with no matte or glossy side effects. Something I only started doing recently myself after seeing mathieu Fontaine do it.

Btw, did you see my request on the sr thread *ork puppy dog face* ?

Boyz "R" Us: thanks!

Arakasi: Right now, the turret can turn (I might even add some kind of mechanism underneath), and removing the rokkits from the turret or adding extra supports kinda takes that away. and I like my worky bitz

The Good Green: Thanks! I like it as well, adds some style - and it's a nice way of camouflaging the size difference

DamienOfTheWRAAAGH: Thank you, glad you enjoy it!

monkeytroll: Thanks. I love all the old snotties, they've got lots of character. The little robed guy is one of my favourites as well . For cyberising, you could open up the robes a bit and add a monowheel?

MajorTom11: Thanks, I agree with you that the greenskins having lots of character, it's what drew me to them in the first place. I love Proiteus'stuff, and I also like how we both took our rebellion in totally different directions. Just shows how nice the background is if you can make all of that fit in . Fixing with white spirits is something I'll try - but won't that ruin the paint?

Btw, did you see my request on the sr thread *ork puppy dog face* ?

Lol, someone's impatient Check out your thread

Now, a minor update, since I hate to update without pics. My wife fell down a flight of stairs and she has a whiplash-like injury, so most of the housekeeping's been mine :( . In other words: little modelling time. Hope to get some stuff done this weekend :(

Still, I managed to get a kan oranged up and blacked in, so it's not all bad:

Enjoy!

Hey guys,

I got some paintin'time in yesterday, and finally finished a deffsawkopta that had been on my desk for way too long.

Here's the piccies:

Yes, I need to redefine the hand. Oops

I've been experimenting with wet weathering powders, streaking it on the buzzsaw. What do you guys think of the effect? It's a bit more subtle then the scorched brown/boltgun metal weathering, so I figure it'll add in some more variation.

Man I'd hate to see that thing coming at me! Nice effect with the powders... think you're getting the hang of it. I don't so much see streaking as I do a stippled wear across the figure.

I like the dinosaur/dragon look you've got going on the Deffkopta the buggies are looking great and with that many rokkits the grots are bound to hit something. By the way you seen the Ramshackle Games stuff some of there vehicles would fit in nicely with the army.....

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Gitsplitta: Just imagine beging a valkyrie pilot . The powders a renice, the trick is to be bold with them. No prancying around, just add a boatload an shake the excess off - works for me . As for the streaking: I started off by streaking near the 'jaws', but then it evolved into more of a stippling I guess - still, I like the effect.

Boyz "R" Us: glad you like it And it's not that expensive, you just need some plasticard and some killa kan bits; easy enough to get sionce there's plenty of cc weapons in the killa kan box.

Llamahead: chicken of doom look . And I agree on the rokkits; twin-linked S8 goodness is always good in my book . I've checked out Ramshackle games, and... I guess I'll be placing an order soon(ish); their stuff is really ramshackle, I'd love to add some bits to my grots. Thanks for sharing!

Joske De Veteraan: Thanks!

Now, smallisupdate, but one that I'm quite proud off: I added the passenger to the buggy, and I like how he looks. But, judge for yourself!

I wanted him to look like he's clinging on for dear life and enjoying the hell out of it. It involved reposioning both his arms and a leg, but I feel it came out alright.
So: nice idea or rubbish? Let me know!

One tip on the buggy's extra seat:

Take some masking tape and fold it against itself. Cut into thin strips, the width of the wrapping on the other seat. Then lightly glue one end to the seat frame. You can wrap the strips around and give the same effect as on the other seat.

Also, I have a favor to ask. Do you know of any "sitting" grots? I'm running 9 buggies, and want to use grots as the drivers, as the weedy old ork models used are horrible.
