Heehee, this is GWA comin at ya strate outta Compton. Ezy-G, tyell 'em how it is, heehee.

The little feller seems to be having a great time there. Good job on the croc-kopta too, the powder work is nice, adds differing textures.

Fantastic stuff as usual, that grot hanging on is great he looks like he's really struggling to keep on the vehicle.
It would be really funny if you put two arguing grots on the seat.

Boyz "R" Us: Thanks, I feel he came out alright

Gitsplitta: relax, sit back, and enjoy the rokkits

Heffling: Thanks for the tip, I'll be trying it out! As for the sitting grots: I use goblin wolf rider legs as a base, thou you still need to gs a pretty big gap in the rear. here's an example without detailing:

The legs should be easy to get, since the common goblins sprue has lots of these together with the regular standing legs. Alternatively, the buggy driver's legs, when shortened (and with a knee gsed) make fine grot legs since they're pretty weedy. I don' t have a pic handy, but I did my halftrack's driver's legs that way, and they came out fine. A third option is the grot "champion" body, the one with out arms; this can easily be cut into and gsed into a more appropriate angle. Hope this helps out!

Lllamahead: 50 Teef ftw! ; He does loo a tad relaxed, but I liked the goofy helmeted face a lot

monkeytroll: . I love the weathering powder becasue of the added texture; it really brings the model to life.

moonshine: thank you! Maybe I'll add two arguing grots in the back, the fron is getting pretty crowded, and the grot minis tend to take up a lot of space, so there really isn't room for two in a seat....

MajorTom11: Thanks! The kan was improved alot by the feedback from the good dakka folks, before it looked like the ork was tripping it up - not quite what I was after

Arakasi: thanks!

Ok guys, since the wife is a bit better I had some modelling time on my hands, and I finished the buggy driver. I used a goblin body for him, and decided to test out the micro-arts head with it, which fits a lot better then with the grot bodies. I also gave him a bottle, since we all know you need fungus beer to drive properly

I like that he's pretty dynamic. It's impossioble to photograph, but it looks like he's pulling really hard on the steering wheel - makes me regret I didn't do anything with the wheels liek Arakasi's brilliant trucks. Maybe I should give it a try anyway?

Commissar Agro: Thanks! Buggy's finished, so now it's onto some painting

bra'tac: Action's been added!

HadoukenAvenger: bad guys > good guys when it comes to cool

Panic: I agree; I had to have a dread hold down a grot before it would sit still long enough for a picture!

So, Buggy is finished! I added some movement to the wheels, though it is more limited then I would have wanted. I checked out Arakasi's brilliant trucks for inspiration, but it turns out he rebuilt part of the underside which I couldn't do, since the model was already built and the bits were solidly attached. I had to settle for repositioning the wheels instead. I also tossed in a loader, excitedly pointing out a new target. He was hard to photograph (called in the help of a dread to hold him still ), since he isn't attached to the model yet. Once painted, I'll glue the antenna to the truck and I'll pin his feet, making sure he points in the same direction as the passenger is aiming. Till then, he'll be hard to get a good pic of while he's on the buggy. I tried anyway though, and I'm calling this buggy finished unless someone points out any glaring mistakes.

Piccies:

For those wondering: the dust goggles are a slice of plasticard with a hole drilled in. Then, I added a small bead. I need to perfect how deep I need to drill, but I like the effect and will be adding this to some more models. Hope you like it!

Pretty sweet Khaine! I really like the passenger climbing up the seat. He screams "Get me closer"... or rather: not left, right!

Great job. I can't see anything glaring or otherwise. and I look forward to a better pick of the loader.

bra'tac: Thanks!

The Good Green: the passenger adds some life, which wa smore or less the point of this model: I wanted it to be very dynamic, as if they were steering full pelt towards the enemy. Better pic of the loader will hopefully be there relatively soon, since I'll be participating in another team tourney in March, and I intend to have all kans and buggies (well, the final buggy) finished by then. I just wish it stopped raining/freezing so I could safely undercoat it :(

Speaking of kans (and to show I'm still working on the orange ladz):

Hey guys,

Real life's bene a bit busy, but I've managed to do something else besides annoying people with posts over here :

Some progress on the kans, still PIP:

Trying to do the ork's red bits like Araksi does them has given me a healthy dose of respect for his painting skills; pretty hard! It's also hard to see on these pics, but once I got it more or less finished I'll post up a pic of 'da dark angel' in all his beautiful agony

Then, a group shot of (most of) my remaining grots, which all got two stages of skin done:

Not all that clear, but just to show I've been busy

And to finish off, some more finished grots:

And here's a pic of the conversion and the parent model. You'll also see an evolution in weathering, due to me starting to use weathering powders:

Enjoy!

Looking good CK, is this the final stretch for this army?

Idea for you - have you thought about giving the skin a 1:1 green/ yellow wash? Only on some, you could change the ratio a bit and it could add some easy and subtle skin tone difference. Heck you could even try othe colors too! That and a tranluscent redding ting to so Moses and tips of ears maybe?

I only suggest because you've got a huge army there, so it could be cool to vary things a bit, but I madesure it would be an easy and quick thing to do if you like the sound of it!

Yes and no. Together with a deffkopta, a buggy and all of my elites, it's the final stretch to 1750 (sounds depressing when described like that, actually). I intend to bring the list up to 2K with a dread, some more burnagrots, and some other stuff, and after that the army will be finished bar some fun projects. I've had a stompa lying around since August that I want to do something funny with, I'd love to make counts-as stormboyz with winged squigs, etc...But I need those 1750 points first. I've decided to ditch the moviegrot lootas, so that means building 5 more looted drones or servitors. Those are pretty high on the list, since we've got a club tourney March 13th. I won't have everything painted, but everything fully built should be possible.

Hmm nice idea, I'll try it on a few in this batch, see what it gives! There are a few in there with a thraka green wash, but I kind a like the rougher effect without the wash as well - but variation sounds like plan, thanks

Boyz "R" Us: Thanks; I purposefully added some different poses. my first three were basically stock models (bar the grotzooka), and I wanted some more action with my next batch

Oh, and a piccie I forgot to add: I finally finished my warboss' bosspole. The ork skull is on a hook and removable, since I drilled out the chains, allowing me to add trophies as he earns them. Grotskull still needs an Eldar helmet and some Spess mehreenz as well, but I need to source a few first.

So, da boss with a bosspole (pic above without auto-adjust, pic below with):

He'll be getting more trophies as he progresses! (levels up )

sum1thtdiesalot: Thanks! The warboss conversion is based on a Tau stealth suit; you can find more pics in the gallery, there's an unpainted one right here. Great to see people like the orange, and rest assured, more skulls will be added

Arakasi: I've got just the pic for you :

I'm calling the red finished while being jealous of Araksi's painting skills, now I just need to get the rest of the ork (and the kan) finished. It's not that much work, but I just need to get at it without getting distracted .

I also need an opinion. Like MajorTom11 suggested, I messed around abit with the washes to vary my skin tones. here's the result:

The one on the left has no wash at all, the middle one a thraka green wash, and the one on the left a thinned down sepia wash. I like both without wash and the thinned down sepia, but the green doesn't do it for me. However, I'm still debating what to with them, so I wonder what you guys think: a mix, all with a wash/without wash, a different wash... Let me know what you think!

Noooooooooooooooooooo!

Ummmm... sepia is a bit out of focus - so I can't tell I have an aversion to using thraka green - I think it comes out too bright. You know - you can mix and match - maybe 1:2 thraka/sepia?

Grotskull looks cool, nice idea with the boss-pole.

I think the thraka is too green for your grots, they're pretty pale, hard to tell but the sepia looks promising. Arakasi has a good idea with the 2:1 green/sepia though. And anyway, you don't want them all with exactly the same skin tone do you?
