A raised monorail/rail would be the ultimate city project.

A few sections of the large O gauge rail supported on sections of wooden frame (painted to look like rusty metal, obviously ), mounted on wooden dowel rods (if you want it to be that simple), or more intricate electricity pylon type structures would look fantastic.

You can tie it into the buildings by having a ruined station with track going in and out. A couple of bombed end sections would allow you to have large gaps in the track or even "stand alone" sections in the middle of the board.

Also gives you the chance to make fallen sections of track to act as barricades.

3rded. Although some green marble might be nice to see at some point as well.

It loks like its already decided on, but I' throw in another vote for the monorail. I also really like the canal/river idea, I've been trying to figure out a way to do that on my realm of battle board, so I'd be interested to see your idea's if you went for it as well.

What an insane couple of weeks... two weeks traveling for work and when I get home I am told by the boss aka My Wife, I am going to be a father!

I am totally stoked. So back to the terrain thread. My wife and I are moving to a huge new place so all progress is going to be sluggish at best. I am going to paint the chapel a dark green and lead up to almost a white. It should look pretty awesome when I am done plus I am going to make the doorway a dark red.

I am also going to do a canal running through the city first and putting the Train yard on hold for funding reasons. I want to do it right after all

So shoot me some places where I can pick up a canal. I love the one Nathan sent so thank you, but if anyone else knows a place that sells them let me know. I am also not opposed to scratch building my own.

Those Armorcast canals look sweet

S9 do a canal system (I can't remember if I posted a link to them before, I think I did) - it is quite rigid but can look fantastic (check out Panic's threads to see his weathered canal system).

I just got done building 30 custom 25mm bases and needed a break so I came to Dakka looking for inspiration/chuckles/what have you, and I found this blog. I started at page one and got here just now. All I can say is wow. I'm inspired... You've got my mind whirling with ideas and I've already scribbled down notes.

Needless to say, but subscribed.

Hey Mike Congatulations to you and your wife matey. You could be like me and get twins ..lol good luck with the move. I am starting a canal/ sewer build , with mdf and liquid nails . Its reletively easy if you can the Mdf pre cut. found a monorail pic and train station pic for insperation matey.
