Well, Gits, after catching up on EpicThread, I can see that things are progressing nicely. Beautiful work on the insectoid wing-pack, it really captured a dynamic pose. Someday, someone will figure out how to build a tournament or series of events that caters to the 'non-competitive'. I really got disheartened at the local club, because if you want to stand a chance of winning, you have to have one of the "Lists", so I feel your pain. However, I'm confident that you will be able to field a list that still "feels" right.
As always, looking forward to watching more of your Journey, and wishing I lived a heck of a lot closer.

Got it, now have bits on order (not from "them"). Thanks guys!
Good to see you back Brian!
Last update for a while. Took some time this morning and built the second bike, Major reconstruction on biker and it really didn't make any difference. One more option for getting him to lean forward to try, but then I have arm length issues. Not sure if you can tell from the angle of the photo but rider 2 needs major green stuff work. Please pardon the photographs, light box is out of commission at the moment.
See ya in a couple of days!

Number two looks more natural - I think it's the bend at the knee... I think standing leaning forward might still work - with the feet lower - but you would need to bend the arms...

More than that, the hips would need to be widened so the legs could be positioned outside the floor boards and the knees would need to be rebuilt.

Just for fun... I'm blogging at you from my tent at Devil's Lake WI! Thing 1 is out cold, which is good because the drunks scattered around the other campsites are raising hell. Going to really enjoy getting up at 5:30 tomorrow morning and making a lot of noise. Maybe I'll accidentally push the panic button on my car key chain.

Well, we were up early every morning and most of the boys on the trip were my son's age (10-11) so they were chatty and noisy in the morning. Since the guys at the other camp didn't get up until many hours later, I suspect we got our measure of revenge. They weren't anywhere near as bad after that, so I suspect they were just blowing off a little steam on Friday night. No harm done.

Yeah, my other blogs have been pretty quiet lately, though Thing 1 has been making little bits of progress here and there. He's out of school now so maybe he'll have a little more time to paint.
So, I'm back in the saddle now though I may need one more night to recover from the camping. I pretty much came hope and collapsed yesterday so I didn't get much done (I don't feel too bad about that as Thing 1 dd the same). I think I'll work on finishing up the vanguard figure, then back to my scout bikers. I need to work on my little one's Hive Tyrant too, but that work will appear in the appropriate thread as I progress.

I think it's time for another P&M update... (last one was kind of lame) Blackhand's Sabre Legion diorama show me as the legionnaire and my two boys as young scouts. One of my old marines made for trade & gussied up with some OSL (experimental). Sergeant with power sword. Re-vamp of my meltagunner for the mini of the month competition (came in 2nd!). Brother Kigume, made for whalemusic360 as part of the Great Marine Swap. Some new terrain painted (guarded by Doom Eagles). Organized my bits boxes... Built and painted some half-melted RT era missile launchers. Painted a power axe for my MoTF. Pic of my army from a local tournament.

An now for something, completely different.
I put this together for another thread, but I thought I'd post it here. These are a list of threads that I've found particularly inspiring. There are many threads and authors that I really like on dakka, but these are the ones that have been (and are being) most influential in my hobbying.
Gitsplitta's threads that Make you go "WOW!"
migsula's: "Legion: =I= munda" (The links in the blog are broken but the pics are in his gallery.)
grey_death's "Random WIP Thread" (grey_death goodness.)
grey_death's "Sons of Medusa" (Amazing work and the definitive example of sponge weathering.)
SONS of ORAR's "WIP" (Wow! Really, don't need a lot of words for this one.)
Roleplayer's "Blood Ravens and Blood Angels" (More Wow! Same as above.)
vent's "Various Ventures" (I just love vent's style... and you'll find some fantastic tips in here too!)
BLACKHAND's "Sabre Legion" (The brilliance can't help but shine through in this early blog of BLACKHAND's.)
BLACKHAND's "40k Skaven" (Which has unfortunately been tabled as a project but the blog is really amazing. Dammit BLACKHAND... this was such an incredible idea.)
Yggsdrasil's "The World Tree's Offerings" (Amazing kit bashes, conversions and painting. The thread that catapulted Yggs to super-stardom.)
Commissar Khane's "A squeaky Waaaagh!" (I love gretchin, and these are the best.)
Ifalna's "commission blogoblag" (The most approachable commission painter ever... oh, and lot's of "Wow!" If you want to learn how to do stuff... read this.)
Hit's_the_spot's "Another True Scale Project" (You get to see some truly remarkable works come together piece by piece, and man can Hits paint!)
IceAngel's "Ice Angel" (Ice writes just awesome fiction for his Blood Angels successor chapter, and with each installment he gets better and better.)
Eggrolls "Blood Angels" (Why do the Blood Angels get all the awesome painters??)
Arakasi's "Da Dark Angelz" (Arakasi's building skills are phenomenal and his imagination is unparalleled.)
Whalemusic's "The Great Marine Swap" (This thread is just inspirational from start to finish... and so many people have developed as modelers and painters throughout it's pages. Definitely a win all-round.)
Mechanicum John's "Mechanicum Jon's Dark Eldar" (Best looking Dark Eldar army I've ever seen... bar none.)
And... some suggestions from friends:
monkeytroll's "cyborks & flyboyz" (This blog makes me laugh {in a good way} every time I open it!)
Neil101's "40k Manufactorum" (Terrain making, scratch building, kit bashing imperial guard thread... this blog has it all.)
BrotherArgos' "Space Marines? Iron Hands!" (Some of the cleanest, sharpest work I've seen around, worth your time.)
migsula's "::Legion at Rhisienne::" (somehow I'd completely missed migsula's current blog... that won't happen again!)
Vitruvian XVII's "The Electric Imperium" (If Admech is your thing, there is a place for you on dakka... right here.)

Hmmmm..... a post of mine seems to have vanished. To restate.
@Reaper: Don't worry my friend, your blog *and* skills are plenty inspirational, as are many blogs that I follow avidly but did not list. The majority above were one's that really fired me up early in my time on dakka. Keep going the way you are and you'll certainly make my next list!
@Ice: Thanks! I never really paid any attention to story blogs until I started reading yours. It opened up a whole new section of dakka to me... thank you!

I think the only one I would add. mainly cause I'm an ork player would be
Monkeytrolll's Cyborks and Flyboyz http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/300067.page
I've got alot of cool ideas from reading his tread.
But I have to say Gitz all of the others are on the money. Very outstanding treads. All of them have something just about anyone can enjoy or even learn from.
But again I think you forget one very important one. It being your own thread. Many people follow it and can't wait to see what fantastic thing you come up with next.
The thing about your thread I love the most is your use of models old and new. It brings a unique character to an all ready outstanding SM army.

Those threads are all good...... Though only one can call itself great in my book and it isn't even in your list! Luckily it is good for mostly sepperate reasons.
Neil101's 40k Manufactorum!
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/318718.page
I say this not just because Neil is really easy to get on with but because the thread is a great insight into the creative process. Neil posts every idea without a middleman and every idea is brilliantly researched and discussed openly. Oh and the fiction in there is superb.
