Armies on parade. Trying to get 1000 pts of my chaos dwarves done with the khorgorath. Realm of battle boards already done so its just a matter of knocking these guys out.
Managed to get a new army done this weekend (sort of!):
The Spiderfang Grots are coming!
A close up - not my best work by a long stretch, but I had approached these thinking the painting would suck - pleasantly surprised to find it easier than I thought
And the Boss:
Should have two Arachnaroks polished off very soon too!
Some updates for anyone who is blog-averse! Brass Stampede is taking shape and my Khorgoraths are shaping up.
Here is the guy with the normal banner.
So I gave one guy a back banner, instead of having three dudes all carrying the same standard. I have snowflake syndrome and it shows. Each of these is unique to one another.
The heads of the hornblowers are unhelmeted because how else can they blow the horns? Also, I used two of the way cooler Skullreaper heads because... snowflake.
And here is a pic of my two Khorgoraths. The one with just Tamiya putty needs some greenstuff work, but I love the skull heads from the Necrosphinx. The horns give them a more Khorne feel, imo.
Anyhow, thanks for looking. More updates throughout the week, I hope. Take a gander at my blog too, if you want to read up on my motives, musings, and all that.
Well, I finally got duped into starting sigmarines (after reading up on the fluff, I've decided it's largely doffy (like most AOS seems to be now ) BUT I do like parts of it, namely, as 1d4chan puts it: That they are Necron Space Marines, with emotion)
I like the Brass/Blue mix and the models, but I'm still hunting for C&C before I start on the bulk of the models.
I converted this September last year from left over Bloodthirster bits. It has since had wings added and is being used as a Daemon Prince with Mark of Khorne.
em_en_oh_pee wrote: I honestly don't think ANYONE likes the Khorgorath head from GW. This is hilarious!
Mine still has the original head... I quite like it too.
You are the first (and only) person I know who does!
And as a tiny update, I have been slowly converting my Blood Warriors from the AoS Starter to have twin axes. It has not been easy or fun, as I am rather bad at conversions and terrible with greenstuff.
I have 5 more Starter Blood Warriors, but I am holding off on assembling them until I get some Blood Warrior boxes so I can mix-and-match a bit easier to make them more unique.

I of course love the color scheme (my stormcast are stormhost silver with the same teal blue)! My big suggestion is find something else to replace the white. Not only is white a PAIN to paint, but it can be easily replaced with something more interesting. Try a bright silver or a gold on the shield lightning bolts, and consider having the cloaks the same color inside and out.
My first complete mini with base for silver tower. Have a few more minis but not based. Trying to get the AoS 32mm bases now. Not sure if the base is Silver Tower worth, but I am trying.
Not sure if I should have made him more stronger or solid blue instead of letting the white show through a bit, but relearning everything again. This time I will not quit.
Just got this in the mail, marking my first foray into the mortal realms!!! Malus darkblade!!! I had bought a malus previously on eBay but he was terrible with missing pieces and too much damn glue. This is sealed and brand new!!! So what Color scheme should I do? I kinda like how he looks on the cover of his anthology book.

Looks great Davor! :-)
Are you gonna get the textured bases for them then? Those work really well with Silver Tower minis!

Nice conversions. I like the idea that the zombies with no torsos become banner bearers. Not sure about the square bases though mate

Awesome! Love the blue on the robes.

I have a week's vacation (or "holiday" as you Brits insist on calling it. Weirdos) coming up. I hope to use it to make a dent in the grey mountain. Hope to have my Bloodbound posted to this thread soon.
By every God in the Realms, MongooseMatt, I have no idea how you manage to get THAT much painted in such a short timespan but I do suspect it involves selling one's soul to the Dark Gods
I've been moderately productive as well, I finished the first five guys of my Skeleton Warriors unit and the last five of my Skeleton Archers; have a look
Going to start a Khorne army for this, going for a simple quick to do paintjob that looks "good enough" for tabletop. Currently the scheme decided on is this:

I really don't like painting red or doing trim.
So close to the Murderfist Tribe or the Iron Horde. Wouldn't take much to make it into one of those, if you cared to follow any of the existing factions.
That being said, I love those eyes! They look like tiny LEDs.
Finished off a Daemon Prince of Nurgle this week. I wanted something a bit different from the usual plastic kit (already have a couple of those for other forces of Chaos), so went with the Horius Heresy model from Forge World.
Incidentally, this model is dead easy (and quick!) to paint, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a variant Daemon Prince for their Nurgle force.
Oh, and for Age of Sigmar - just double its Wounds and wound brackets to reflect its size and Nurgleness (we do the same thing for the Forge World Great Unclean One).
Loving everyone's work, it all looks so damn nice. Liking the colour scheme ledha, and always a fan of anything Orc related. Son of sigvald. Loving the fellas you have there. And Mongoose can't believe that's actually a forgeworld model... bleugh
Did a little work on the Orcternals myself. My Errant Questor
My latest project is to build up a collection of terrain. I started with an MDF building kit that I painted up as a small house for my Freeguild. It was only £8 (plus a few Empire bitz). I took an atmospheric photo of my minis fighting around it:
I hope to add to this and create a small town/village.

I saw this, I head downstairs to do some modelling, and now I can't find my brushes. I think they are hiding. I wonder why.
Finished up my squad of Black Knights, I've since replaced the bases so they look less amateurish. Excited to take them into combat hopefully this weekend.
Also got half my Grave Guard unit painted, need to throw some shade on to give them the decayed look.
Thanks Bottle, means a lot. I was only kidding, you just inspire me now to keep going. While I may not be anywhere close to you or others skills, I will not quit no more and just keep pushing.
Still like to joke now and then though.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Finally made my first custom base. He looks a bit to light, not sure if I should try and darken the coat otherwise might ruin it.
@Davor it's looking great! I would neaten the base edge with a coat of black paint, and on the skin take Reikland Fleshwash, a detail/layer brush and just paint it in any deep recesses, like the cracks in the fingers and the tops of the finger nails. It should really add some depth to the skin of the model.

Thanks Bottle for the advice. I don't have Reikland Fleshwash, so will have to buy some. I totally forgot to do the base. Dang, not done as I thought I was.
Awesome Matt. I'm going to do Bullgors next and this formation is fun. We talked about it recording Godbeasts for Mortal Realms podcast. Thrilled to see you doing this.
I have a question for people that have been rebasing their miniatures for Age of Sigmar. Are there any places that sell bases that are identical or nearly identical to GW's without being stupidly expensive? I want all of my models to have the same style bases, from my current ones to any future ones I buy, but GW's prices for bases are crazy.
(MDF but muuuuuuuuch cheaper than any plastic options. Also a great store for all hobby supplies. Ships from Spain, but surprisingly affordable shipping and weirdly short wait, at least to the East Coast.)

The Shattered Dominion bases off most retailers will cost you like $27 (25mm & 32mm). Not too shabby.
This is my Verminlord, converted to be a bit less regal and more in line with the old verminlord-designs.
It's still wip and I'm desperately looking for a pair of ram horns like the ones in this picture: I'd make them myself, but I'd rather use existing bits (if they exist, that is) - any ideas?
Not sure on size difference, and I think they have trophies attached, but the Ogre mounfang have some largish curled horns (used at the back of the saddle, not part of the mournfang itself)
Im hoping to start on a few Verminlords myself, as i've had to use Rogers and Clanrats to represent Verminlords (Due to summoning by my Screaming Bell, which will hopefully be done tommorow!)
puree wrote: Not sure on size difference, and I think they have trophies attached, but the Ogre mounfang have some largish curled horns (used at the back of the saddle, not part of the mournfang itself)
I had to cut and re-angle most of the leg joints, in order to change the pose from standing to moving. The whole model is tilted slightly forward as well. For the weapon pose, I used one of the cocked arms from the sprue (the one with the sickle), cut it off at the wrist and attached the glaive hand to it with a bit of wire and modelling putty. Then I cut off large parts of the neck and attached the head directly to the torso, a bit lower than normal, to give it a more hunchbacked appearance. The horns were way to prominent for me, so I used only the tips and fitted them behind the skull with some more putty.
All that's left to do now is finding a pair of ram horns, add a point to the other end of the glaive (because that part was originally stuck in a rock) and closing all the remaining gaps.
Tomorrow I'll try and make better pictures, including the backside, so you guys can see how all the parts align.

If you are good at cutting metal, I would recommend a "harvester of saluel" model from confrontation, he has a good set of rams horns on his helmet.
I've been working on my Vampire Counts some more, but I've also managed to sneak in a Beastman test model
Here's a look at the new additions:
And here's my Slaaneshi Beastman test model (which was also my first attempt at painting flesh tones):
I followed the tutorial that came with the latest White Dwarf for the fleshy parts, I figured that it'd look just as good on a Beastman as it did on that Slaughterpriest

First attempt at skin tones was a remarkable success. Those look great!
I had a crack at painting the Tempest Lords scheme on my liberators, my photos are crappy so I will endeavor to fix that. Also is some Retributors and some Fyreslayers.

Short Preview of whats to come: (Hint: I just got my hands on the new WD, one week after it sold out!)
Spoiler:
"Lord Khagast!"
Hearing the doors open, the men clustered around the burning throne turned. Standing in the archway, their silhouettes illuminated from behind by the fires raging outside, stood three figures.
The cry was heard again:
"Lord Khagast!"
The man closest to the throne stepped forward. He was presumably their leader, his armored frame wrapped in rich silk that had, until this evening, adorned the walls of the throne room.
"Who dares speak my name."
He spoke softly, his voice barely audible over the crackling of the flames. He to a step forward, his footfalls echoing about the hall. His followers, clustered behind him, begann inching their way towards the exit.
The intruder spoke.
"Azag the Wanderer, Curse of Gyran, Shadow of Nurgle and Lord of Heruzlem wishes to make his presence known!"
Khagast stopped. He had heard tell of Azag, slayer of Men, Aelves and Gods alike, and many stories of his deeds had been told around the campfires of his warriors. He knew that Azag was one to be reckoned with.
Khagast laughed.
"I am Lord Khagast, Drinker of Blood, Bringer of Death (Couldn't resist a Terry Goodkin reference .)! I crossed the wilds of Ghur, destroyed the Fortress of Thorns and have now laid waste to Sarep in the name of Khorne!" He drew his sword. "I killed Karsten Quickfingers, last of the Kings of Sarep, and burned his throne! This tapestry that i clothe myself with was, until recently, his complete lineage, which I alone have ended! My warriors have destroyed the last remnants of his armies, and are now burning his city. Sarep is gone, and it is Khorne that may delight in its destruction, and not the twisted monstrosity you call a God!" With this last word, he charged at the men standing in the doorway, screaming an indecipherable battle cry as he did so.
The intruder remained unmoving.
"Azag is already here."
Khagast dropped to the floor. His followers rushed towards him, but stopped as they saw the figure standing over him. Clad in green-brown armor that seemed to change its exact hue as they stared at it, pulled its sword out of their leaders back.
"Azag..."
The men bowed their head, some dropping to the floor in anguish. Although followers of Khorne, they knew when they had found an enemy even they could not hope to overcome.
Azag turned.
And spoke:
"I am Azag the Wanderer, Curse of Gyran, Shadow of Nurgle, Lord of Heruzlem. I have killed Lord Khagast, Drinker of Blood, Bringer of Deat, who crossed the wilds of Ghur, destroyed the Fortress of Thorns and who laid waste to Sarep in the name of Khorne, killed Karsten Quickfingers, last of the Kings of Sarep, and burned his throne." He wiped the blood from his hands "I am now lord of Sarep, and all within it, including you. Just as I destroyed the followers of Khorne in Marienburg." The men at his feet had never heard of such a place, but remained where they where.
"But I have not come to shed more blood. I am above such primitive practices. No, I have come for a tribute."
Azag paused. He glanced at the Bloodbound.
"Who offers themselves willingly?"
His laughter echoed around the chamber.

To be continued...
We have a thread where we have fluff about our armies. I suggest you put it there as well.
The leaders for my Nurgle swamp lords warband and my Norse Khorne acolytes worshiping him in the aspect of the Wolf-Father.
If people are actually interested I can post pics that are actually decent and not taken from Whatsapp I'm just posting them to justify the next part of my post.
Is there a painting guide or at least a rundown of colours used for those sexy, sexy Bloodletters? I love the harmony of the colours. For the first time I want the plastic 'letters for their own sake and not just to use their legs in conversions On my own I'd start to wetblend the swords when they're clearly just basecoat, wash, edge highlight, however, so I need a guide to restrain myself.
Also, just wanted to get a few opinions.
Finally started to paint my sylvaneth army and wanted to start with the 30 dryads first.
Should I keep them all the same colour or should I mix it up a bit so there's variation in the units?
While I like the uniform look of an army, I feel that there may be slight variations in the colours.
Or keep the runes/leaves the same and paint them with different colour wood. You could try giving some birch bark (dunno how) and others with gnarled, oaky wood, but give them all blue runes to show they are all part of the same awakening.
I have been watching this thread for awhile and I am loving what I am seeing. Thought I would add some of my stormcast, I would have done it earlier but it has been a struggle to take a photo that I was happy with. These are not the best photos but happy enough with them.
I am very happy with the stormcasts themselves, I think they turned out well.
Jackal wrote: That would work actually.
I wanted to keep them uniformed while keeping a natural look to them all.
I may paint them all up in the same scheme then pick out a few bits for subtle changes.
What about 4 seasons of Dryads, with a different squad for each season?
Currently wrestling with my hobby butterfly about what army to pick for starting AoS, but thinking I might go Serphon as I've always like the Lizardmen. Plenty of inspiration in here!
The detail on those flames is great, I love how the purple gives it an overall 'arcane' look. There's a humanoid or something on top obscuring it though.
Ready for armies on parade! Got a silver model with the display at the scale model convention, losing to Scar's miniature madness display... So very happy with the result of my first AoP entry.
Looks like you are doing something similar to me, ploughing through the new Sylvaneth. On my painting table I have 9 Kurnoth Hunters and a Spirit of Durthu. After that, I just have 10 Spite-Revenants and Alarielle (saving her to last!) to go, and then I am calling the Sylvaneth done (for now).
Oh, and I also managed to finish two more characters for the Devoted of Sigmar. Said I was done with this army, and then did these two. I think most people here will understand that...
Yesterday I finished my Blades of Dawn Stormhost. All models complete, with bases, decals and everything. I started with the contents of the Starterbox and then it escalated (as always ) to 3320 points of sigmarite goodness.
Loving all the inspiration here. Nothing to report for myself, been focusing on 40k for a bit, playing my first actual game in 16 years today to see if I want to invest fully in AOS or split between the two.
On a project note, if I decide to go full in on AOS and skip 40k, I'm highly considering starting another faction as I'm not sure Flesh Eater Courts really appeal to me playstyle-wise (I was never a fan of a lot of chaff troops), but painting skin is a lot better than painting flat armor. I'm highly considering a Nurgle project that's going to be a throwback to the old Realm of Chaos; a mix of daemons, mortals (Blightkings, love those models), maybe Beastmen and Skaven (Pestilens of course) all together in one large filthy, putrid warband, or if I don't go that route then it might be Ironjawz and/or Bonesplitterz done with a WoW-esque theme, haven't yet decided. The Nurgle idea sounds like it'd be loads more fun and visually appealing
Finally got over my procrastination and took photos of my blood zombie army! Pardon the quality, I don't have a lot of resources in the photography department.
Spoiler:
This whole army went from concept to completion in just two months! Also the army I have finished/played with completely painted!
I just feel so betrayed that you still use square bases, Ninth.
Ha, only kidding. Great looking army. Love the blood banshee coming out the dragon. What do you use the blood troll things as? And this army can't be many points?

Its 2000 points matched play.
-Vamp on Zombie Dragon
-Necromancer
-10-man Zombies x3
-Mourngul x3
-60 points in reserve to summon either 10 more zombies or a cairn wraith, based on the needs of the scenario.
Bases are square to keep costs down, this whole army ran me $125 and round-basing everything could easily have kicked that up by 30% or so.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to bar my windows before Auticus shows up to shank me for my betrayal of the balance community...
Haha yes, I would love to see your opponent's face when he asks what the blood monsters are and you tell him Mourngul, and then he realizes you have 3 of them...
I got three solid games in before my buddies said they wouldn't play against it again, ever. I told them they should only feel truly afraid when I show up for a game and put down a single Arch-Warlock then say "I'm done deploying".
I've finally started to put a dent in my Bonesplittas.
Looks like about 2/3 of them painted. I got started, stopped and a few weeks ago started again. I'm only painting 5 models at a time right now and it's keeping me from getting frustrated or overwhelmed.
I figure I'm 15 to 20 models behind schedule, we lost power for about 2 and a half days last week, due to the hurricane.
When I get them all table top ready I'll post them to my blog and post a link to those pictures.
I'm still not decided about how I want to base them and I'm trying to come up with some interesting warpaint ideas for them.
I keep losing steam aswell.
I'll start getting through things then get distracted massively with either another project or something completely different.
Had a unit of spites on the desk for over a week now and only around half way.
To make it worse I got over 150 zombies still to assemble, let alone paint.
I keep losing steam as well.

I think my collection is only just above 90 models 90 + the few characters. But the boar riders.. should count as two models.
I'm getting close to being able to put them on the table and my copy of Silver Tower has just come in. another 50+ models to paint! If I get these done that's next months project!!!
I am really looking forward to playing some games of both.
So I only got one day this week to do some hobby stuff because of work. That said I got the last 10 bases in (no pic, but nothing exciting).  I got 45 of the Horses built and stopped because the 10 bases needed to dry, and 45 is enough for a 1.5k list.  Started to sand the bases and got 20 done before I got another distraction. Â
So one of the other players saw my Army and left. Â When he came back he said that he only bought it for the Sorceress and didn't need the rest of the kit. Â So this got added to my force. Â Of course I had to start putting him together, and admittedly, might end up painting him sooner than later as well.
The closest ive ever gotten to free minis was buy six warhawks off a guy for five bucks. I guess he just didnt know how much out of production models are worth...
While my painting que was 100 zombies I've moved my mourngul to the front for now.
Had a game this morning and it earned its place by killing skarbrand by turn 2, then a shaggoth by turn 4, followed by a lord of khorne.
Really did do well so the basecoat is drying now lol.
Did however die turn 6 to another lord of khorne who managed to get a wound through, followed by a roll of 6 with his mighty axe of khorne, sending it I to oblivion :(
Gratz Bottle! Though I'm surprised they left whatever that top bit is rather than removing it from the image. It's harder to view those expertly done snow effects with that dude in the way. But anyways, gratz again it's not often a base is so good as to earn recognition!

Mighty lord of khorne
2x 20 man Blood warriors

I like how the red markings on their blue tabards look, it really helps distinguish them as a unique band of soldiers. The slightly muted tone of the blue, meanwhile, helps that their heraldry doesn't take away from the magnificence of their armaments. Truly these are valiant warriors,, standing disciplined and ready to bring retribution upon the barbarous hordes that assail the fair lands of their king!
Jackal wrote: Edit: on second thoughts, would anyone mind if I used the old dogs of war models birdmen of catrazza as warhawk riders?
Similar size and weapons lol.
Doubt it, especially as the warhawk riders are oop.
Assembled a bunch of Greatswords, still missing parts to make all 16 I can make, so painting will wait (a while, I can't find the legs/torsos/hand weapons I need), I intend to paint them either in Carroburg Greatswords style, or going with the Ostland Blackguard scheme, either way, they're ending up with black armor.
And the only two Fantasy models I have that are painted xd, one is made out of parts I bought at the gaming store I used to go, the other was a gift, the picture is also extremely blurry, sorry.
I'm working on a 1,500 point Ironjawz army for an upcoming tournament. I still have a TON of priming and painting to do, but I'm pretty happy with the way the army is looking. I'm not a huge fan of the Orruk Megaboss or his $40 price tag, so I'm working on a conversion using the Disney Infinity Green Goblin as a base. I added a ton of Orruk themed bits. I think it'll tie in pretty well when I get some painting done. He's big, but I think that's ok. The army could use a chunky model.
The barrel he's holding is his Battle-Brew artefact.
@Sigvald awesome as always! Is that a Slaneeshi hotrod!?!?
Its actually my counts-as hellcannon/warp lightning cannon. You can see the warpstone in the center part.
Its made from the chaos chariot from the Slave to darkness box and the cauldron of blood.

I must admit, they do line up rather nicely, but this guy's more a follower of the "excessive pain"-creed than the "extreme narcissism" that Slaanesh is more known for Also, it'd be a bit silly for him to carry a hand mirror on a chain, wouldn't it?
Unless he intends to throw it to his enemies, screaming something along the lines of: "HOLD THIS, SO I CAN WATCH MYSELF KILL YOU"

I've always wanted to remove the weapons from that model and put an electric guitar in his hands. Dude's pose is just perfect for it!

Khorney.
I see what you did there

Have you considered giving him a whip instead? It seems like a more Slaanesh-y weapon than a big ball of metal on the end of a chain.
I like the theme you are going for. My only concern is that there appears to be a whole lot of yellow on the bow and not enough orange. Love it, otherwise!
The Slaughterpriest was my weekend project, the images rally don't do the mini justice. Just the highlights on the chest (My first attempt at painting that skin colour, and my first human mini with that much skin) took a few hours, and the brass was time consuming as well. The bell was more straight-forward, there are only really seven (YAY Nurgle!) colors on it, the wood, the bronze and silver, the blue (verdigris), the orange (rust) and the green of the warpstone and smoke. Its size was hard, and painting all that rope was one of the most annoying things i have encountered in my years of painting. But still, they turned out great, and I've been able to field them once already. Enjoy!

Sorry about all the edits, I had forgotten how to upload pics
I'm very very close to a happy table top paint job for the whole tribe. Just have eye's and "hair' and to edge the bases.
I'm stumped on Hair for Ourrks. Don't really like it on my green skins. Going to look through the Bonesplittaz book a little more and see if something looks good. I'm sure there's a little more to paint that hasn't come to mind now. And of course still plan to add War Paint/ Body paint as an end goal.
I'm really pleased with how they are coming along so far. Shouldn't be but a few more days.
That's a dragon and a half. Is that found in the painting guide I'm assuming? The GW painting guides sound really useful (been looking at the Deathwatch one and a few others)
Decided to finally have a go at the Slaughter Priest from White Dwarf. Did some experimenting with him, doing a no red colour scheme on him and playing with that new Valhallan Blizzard tech paint. I really like that by the way, i want to find a way to use it more.
Here's the start of my current project, a warband of Liberators for skirmish gaming, with a mix of weapons across the unit. I wanted to make them have more personality and look a little less like fantasy cybermen, so I am using bare-headed Space Marine heads on some of them, and the rest will get Retributor helms with the face painted in fleshtone to look more like open-faced helms. I think the added humanity makes them look eerie, because alongside other minis they look like regular people, but massive.
This is my test mini using the monopose that comes with the getting started book- I wanted more of a knightly look, so I went with a dark, bare metal, with shoulders and a shield that would look more heraldic. Still deciding on an emblem for the shoulder pad, thinking of using the four-pointed star from the Liberators, but with a black half on the green and a white half on the black.
This is my barebones conversion of the Lord Relictor, using a Retributor head and a Grey Knight standard topper, as I always thought the existing icon on the mode was ludicrously oversized. I thought after the fact that it might make a great Lord-Veritant with a weapon swap, also.
Not working for me today when I quote the above pic.
Very well painted. At first as soon as it "popped" on the screen I thought it was that jedi from Star Wars Rebels. Kidding aside like the crisp colours you put on your mini here. Very well done.
I am working on my Hurricanum finally. This is the finished crew members (the wizard who will become my new army General too). They are magnetised to the base so they can ride the Hurricanum or run around on foot (perhaps for Narrative games).
Nice work! I love how you got individual spots on the mushrooms, the magnetization is a great idea too since you can show off your work without the wizard or whatever standing in the way!

haha, thanks. One of these days I will upload a blank base just for you.
I grouped all my Wizards together for a team photo. It would be fun to play a narrative game with all these guys fighting together, don't you think!?

"Umm, Alarielle, who's that guy? He doesn't seem quite right..."
"Oh that's just my crazy uncle Jimbo. Don't worry, he's harmless. Occasionally."
Of course the real travesty here is how those robed humanoids make it more difficult to see the excellent shading of the skulls. The contrasting yet similar color of the bone against the perfectly highlighted ground is truly something to be admired.
Davor wrote: Awesome blood splatter on the snow. How is that done?
It´s just a lot of the "Blood for the Bloodgod" technicalt paint. Just splat it everywhere. Soft brushes over the snow gives small splattermarks, for bigger bloodpools just apply a lot.
Had a rather massive amount of study work to do lately, but that is now done and models are starting to come out of the paint factory once more - beginning with some reinforcements for Khorne!
A Skull Cannon will (finally) give them a ranged ability beyond the Khorgorath's Bone Tentacles:
And another (why do I need another?) Blood Throne:
Hi! So, I've decided to actually start an AoS project, tentatively.
the issues: i don't have to many fantasy models, and the ones I do have are Brets! specifically, I have about twenty footmen, twenty archers, two... damsels, i think, and five knights. So it's small and an army that they basically dropped, from what I've heard?
issue 2: i am not able to spend that much money right now for a variety of reasons. No new stormcast for me, or at least not for a while.

Is this enough to work out some games?
Yes, for core (non GHB) AoS you should be fine, just find an opponent who plays similar size and you should be GTG.
Three guys on new test bases with a new test paint scheme!
There's some work to do yet. And i mean there is a lot of work to do yet. and i'm not actually sure if i want to strip the old ones or just leave them as is. i painted them when i was like 12!
Its a bit of a pain to rebase whole units/armies from square bases to round bases, but in the end its a good result based on the amount of effort taken to rebase, and gives you a beter base from which to add round based models to your previously square based army. And I'm sure Bottle will go googly-eyed over seeing square based models being rebased to round bases!
Im in the process of rebasing my entire Skaven army onto round bases, except my FLGS is out of 25mm bases. So ill have to wait for January to buy more in London.

Base.
In case you were wondering, the answer is yes. Base no longer looks like a real word.

I say forget 25mm bases. Seems like everything will go to 32mm. If 40K is going to 32mm I can see AoS going to 32mm bases as well. So is that an option for you?
I tried congrats on 32s, but they look stupid. I judge the correct base by its ability to sureound the whole models silhouette from above. My WoCs, Skaven heroes and weapon teams on 32s, with the Chaos Lords (or equivalents) on the bigger terminator sized ones.

Neither 40k nor AoS are moving to 32mm bases. You won't see an Imperial soldier on a 32mm base and you won't see a Goblin or Skeleton on a 32mm base.
Super-humans in atomic powered servo-armour or chaos-infused barbarians, though? Yeah, they go on 32mm.
Great work Bottle! It's too bad so much of the excellently detailed base is obscured by that chariot-whatever hovering on the top. Even the wizard needs a crystal ball just to marvel at how wonderfully painted the ground beneath him is!

Haha, I don't even think the base is anything to rave about on the hurricanum though. I need to work on my bigger bases....
Anyway, I finished off the second part of this set. A unit of mercenary knights to guard my Alchemist in battle. All in matching blue!
The consistency of overall tone across the bases between the two units really ties them together! That the cavalry bases are so much less obscured by the lumpy objects above them is a big plus too. Not to mention the excellently random-but-not-too-random placement of static grass!

Lore of life Wizard (using a Bretonnian Damsel) and her Waywatcher Guardian.
Spoiler:
And with this my tournament prep is finished! I love hitting deadlines
That damsel is very inspiring! Great colour scheme and execution!
Thanks man! I usually don't deviate much from official schemes so it was nice to come up with one myself. I think the ginger hair works well with the green, and green is my weakest colour so it was good to try and improve that too (I highly recommend the Waywatcher green glaze to get a rich colour).
Well, so i ended up finding the starter box set for a pretty good price, and I love deals, so i have stormcast guys now. And khorne guys too i guess, except i never liked khorne. Or corn, for that matter.
So now I've got a pretty good sized project ahead of me!

Oh, got a few of those archers, they're excellent!
Sounds like you got alot of fun ahead of you with making them battle worthy. Certainly look great compared to my early painting attempts, Legos were less shiny!
Also, you said something earlier about getting Stormcasts? Well here's a vid to maybe help inspire a Bret theme to go along with your valiant men-at-arms:

That's outstanding!
Not a model but thought I'd share this funny sketch I did.
@Baron Klatz: I love that little sketch! And thanks for the compliment and the video.
i'm currently still doing some rebasing. most of the archers are done! (huzzah) but I can't do too much about the knights because I don't have any oval bases. I do really like how the archers look on the round ones though, nice and skirmishy.
I'm coming up with a vague backstory as I always like to do, these Brets aren't going to be quite Brets, less peasant conscripts and more a citizen militia, if that makes sense.
Finally got some done. This has been one slow build for me, but I am liking I am not rushing. I am liking the job I am doing. Slow but surely I am improving ever so slowly.
Here is the latest I got from Icewind Assault. A thanks to Bottle for suggesting I paint the rim. It looks so much better now painted. Now just need to base and make the Orgers for the other Frostusken. (sorry forget the proper name.)
Looks fantastic Davor! Not long till the set is finished then I imagine? :-)
Have you considered painting the rim black? Personally I think black rims are by far the best. If you look at this website you'll notice a trend on base rim colour https://golden-demon.com :-p
Starting AoS in the near future but already may have bitten off more than I can chew, found one of the old Skaven Battalion boxes on last chance to buy in my local GW and just ordered the Spire of Dawn box as well, so I think I've worked it out at about 120ish figures to assemble and paint... Only just started Warhammer 40k in August with Necrons.... So going to have to learn a lot of new painting techniques.... My great ideas always end up backfiring...
I would be already happy if I manage to get a single point of that list (--> intended to paint some Dropfleet Commander ships but Hawk is too incompetent to deliver my Kickstarter pledge... So either I will continue on my Genestealers or the Sylvaneth damn Battleboxes that I couldn't resist
