ephrael wrote: Does anyone happen to know if we will get the rules for the Anaconda Tag when the "regular" release of the mini happens officially?
Probably. IIRC, any time they release something totally new outside of a book, they will either put the rules on the website (like Miranda Ashcroft, the pre order model for the artbook) or Devil Team will build them into the official army builder (like the additional Odalisque and Muyib profiles from Paradiso).
Seriously though, there's no precedent for paid for unit profiles (ie none of them), but there is precedent for paid for story based missions (ie all of them).
Thank you both Loki and Kan for your replies, I wasn't quite sure how CB had handled this in the past and I usually just get my "news" here anyway. I would actually prefer a printed card inside the boxes like Kan but I'm "old school" like that. a pdf would be my second choice but again CB didn't ask for my personal opinion so I guess I'll take what I can get as I already bought the Anaconda and I really like two of the Dire Foes sculpts so far. I still think it's better than some other companies current offerings so I won't complain too much.
Mr. Angel usually does a wonderful job, however I think he rushed with Angus. I like the sculpt and the miniature probably looks better in person. If I'd feel more comfortable with green stuff, I'd put some facial hair on it.

If you want the Anaconda rules as hardcopy, I wouldn't worry too much. The only models so far that have not wound up in a book have been limited release models - Max Scorpio (ITS pack reward model) and Go Go Marlene (Paradiso pre order model). Though technically they are, Go Go Marline is a Warcor and Max Scorpio can just be used as an Authorised Bounty Hunter. Miranda Ashcroft (artbook preorder) hasn't yet, but hasn't had the chance, but I wouldn't count on it. She has PDF rules and will probably stay that way due, again, to being limited release. The Anaconda is a general release model, it was just limited at Gencon because it was released for limited early sale there, so I can't see any reason to hold it back from the next book.
I love all these Dire Foes so far, except the Train Rescue. I'm not a fan of any of the factions in it, and the poses are kind of blah. But the sheer quality of the faces almost makes it worth picking up for the heads alone. CB is knocking it out of the park here with the expressiveness in these things!
More likely it is the PDF code--which seemingly is a one time only code. The price difference is likely to cover the costs necessary to maintain a "code redemption" service.
Bostria's been talking about the contents of the boxes. I'll try to translate as accurate as I can:
Bostria@Spanish Infinity forum wrote:
You still don't know neither the extension of the downlodable .PDF, nor how many pages it has, nor what it includes. It's a downloadable .PDF because printing it on paper to get a small book wich cover all the languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian as a minimum...) is 5 times the amount of pages. Expensive and not really practical. Forget about stocking separately by languages, we already did that with the starters and it was a problem.
In the following weeks we'll be uploading more info on the content amount in a Dire Foes box.
Don't think it's a 3 box miniatures because it's something more.
Oh, and yes, it includes quality prints similar to the Artbook.
I don't know if he's implying that there will be more printed material besides the prints (and not being the rules), or if the .PDF is just a large document.
Koni also says that the Anaconda profile will be available soon.
Update by Bostria again: the Anaconda profile will be out next week, and will be included the Army. ALL the profiles will be included in the Army. So the Dire Foes profiles are indeed public.
RiTides wrote: Sounds like he's just saying the PDF is a large document, to me. Won't stop me from getting the Tohaa one when it is revealed most likely anyway
From the sound of it, it's more of an issue that it's too large in book form when you consider it's got the same material reprinted 5x in order to cover all the languages.
Eh, I've adjusted my price expectations based on the sort of minis/games I want to be buying now. I'm fine with the announced price even if it's 'just' 3 minis and art prints.
PsychoticStorm wrote: I will echo Bostrias sentiment, its premature to assert dire foes, before you see what is really in it.
Then maybe they should have shown what was in it rather than just put the items up with no further comment?
All honesty if they're trying something new the very least that could be done is actually showcasing what is different. They've cultivated so many "partners" in the form of MiniWarGaming, Beasts of War, and Infinity O-12 that any one of those could have been used as an avenue to show the product.
Knight wrote: Marvellous, thanks for the information. Are Dire Foes available to purchase? This the release I don't want to trust my gaming store.
They're not available for purchase yet. It should be the middle or end of November before we see the releases available to distributors or from Corvus Belli direct.
As of right now, The Warstore has still not received the September releases so things might be slowing down for reasons as yet unknown.
It's not bad but it's very limited in scope. The big draw for it was that there is art of some as yet unreleased items and the posters(which you have the Tohaa one winging its way towards you now).
The art that was in the book is kind of lackluster and disappointing. I don't regret purchasing it but I do think they could have done a much better job with it.
I enjoy my copy, but I'm into art books. I looked through it, friends looked through it then it has sit on my shelf since. So it really depends on how you feel about art books in the first place.
Thanks, guys (and to Kan for the Tohaa print ). I'll likely hold off on that for now and just order a few of the Gao-Tarsos HMG models once they're up for preorder at the Warstore.
Some background of the 3 dire foes, I quite like the background info and I feel what the site writes are snippets, the missions looks really intriguing now.
Angus did it again! Prisoner of the Yu Jing StateEmpire, two women will fight to rescue him, the Indigo Fusilier Bipandra spurred on by something more than loyalty, and the Treitak Anyat by the secrets Angus doesn’t know he carries in his Cube. Find out what the fate of poor Angus will be with the “Train Rescue” mission and play this new scenario with its true protagonists!
FUSILIER INDIGO BIPANDRA
Gauri Bipandra (or Bipandra Gauri, in the South Indian traditional style) is a fairly competent field doctor and a survival specialist. She has been forced into that role ever since fate dumped Fusilier Angus in her lap. She originally learned first aid and combat medicine by patching Angus up and keeping him alive long enough to reach a field hospital. She then built up her survival skills by keeping herself alive via the ordeals Angus puts her through on a regular basis.
TREITAK ANYAT
Anyat is notorious throughout the Treitak Unit for her unscrupulous methods, her love for games of chance and her persistent presence in some of the most disreputable gambling dens. With a vast array of tricks up her sleeve, Anyat lets nothing stand in her way when on a mission, particularly if said mission would earn her favors and privileges.
FUSILIER ANGUS
Many regard Angus as a pest, the bane and blight of PanOceania. This man exists in the intersection between clumsiness, obliviousness and plain old bad luck. Angus is a mascot for the PanOceanian line infantry. His misadventures add a comic relief to the situation of every anonymous Fusilier who identifies with him: always sent into the thick of things, always getting the short end of the stick and coming off bruised, but alive.
Absolutely unbelievable! ALEPH and Nomads collaborating together? What could force Vortex Lupe Balboa and Sgt. Chandra Thrasymedes to cooperate in a mission where they are supposed to confront each other? What secrets do these two elite operators hide? Discover it with the “Fleeting Alliance” mission and play this new scenario with its true protagonists!
CHANDRA SERGEANT THRASYMEDES
Notes by Thamyris the Aoidos for the SSS Information Service: “Thrasymedes is our point man. He is always ahead of us, scouring the terrain and guarding us from unwelcome surprises. His courage is unquestionable, but sometimes I wonder whether the reason why he pushes onward and leaves us behind is that he just cannot stomach us…”
ALGUACIL VORTEX LUPE BALBOA
“Sorry, are you trying to say something? I can’t hear you over the sound of me kicking your ass.”
Vortex Guadalupe “Lupe” Balboa.
How has Lupe Balboa passed from a tactical penal regiment to a unit as elite as the Vortex? That’s easy to answer, just by surviving all the gak that’s flown over her head. That’s a quality the Nomad Intelligence service appreciates enough to allow Lupe to keep Pancho, her illegal drakomon.
MARINE ENGINEERING OFFICER
The Marine Engineering Officers are those who keep the spaceships running, no matter if we are talking about an independent freighter or a pleasure cruise ship through the stars. They are your surety of reaching your destination safe and sound.
Clandestine actions into the deepest darkness! Intel Isobel MacGregor, an expert Caledonian data-thief, and Guǐ Fēng Yuriko Oda, elite saboteur and Kempeitai killer, fight each other in the deepest darkness, and a poor Comm-Tech is caught in the middle of their struggle! To know what the final result of the “Dark Mist” mission will be, play this new scenario with its true protagonists!
INTEL VOLUNTEER ISOBEL McGREGOR
Trying to get away from her family and the silly one-upmanship of Clan politics, Isobel joined the Intel unit and was detached to the technical adaptation programs put in place by Bureau Aegis to aid joint operations on Paradiso. With that training she became an information thief, an expert in cyberdefense and how to bypass it. She soon put her newfound expertise to use well beyond the confines of the war against the Combined Army. Ariadna wanted some bargaining power in the cutthroat arena of international politics, which meant it needed to take other people’s secrets by force. That was not a problem for an Intel as motivated as Isobel, for whom every enemy, human or alien, is fair game. Nothing less is expected of a McGregor.
KEISOTSU GUǏ FĒNG YURIKO ODA
Double life? Double the risk! Only one thing is more dangerous than being a Guǐ Fēng working for the Yǎnjīng (“The Eyes”, Yu Jing’s Military Intelligence department), and that is being a double agent infiltrated into that special operations unit. Especially when you are an agent of the Kempeitai, the covert military organization that advocates Nipponese secession.
COMM-TECH
The Human Sphere would fall to pieces save for the unending work of Comm-Techs. Software applications are great. Research in quantronics is very important. But none of that is any good when the repeater in your block malfunctions and you can’t connect to the data sphere.
I like the artbook although I agree it could have used more variety.
As for the Dire Foes - 30 Euros is pretty expensive, they'll really have to provide interesting contents for me to think about buying Yasbir or the Hatail box.
Bipandra and Konstantinos will definitely be on on my purchase list. I love the idea of having a character that is either a doctor or religious engineer.
PsychoticStorm wrote:I will echo Bostrias sentiment, its premature to assert dire foes, before you see what is really in it.
Wise words.
I must say though, at that price point I'll be rethinking my plan of getting them all right away just for funsies, since I'm not sure the scenario and extra content will justify the price of a third, fourth or fifth pack. So I'll be getting my Trasimedes and Hasht anyway, but I'll have to wait and see for the rest.
RiTides wrote:Does anyone here own the Infinity: Artbook One, and is it worth the purchase do you think?
It's well worth it. Admittedly it could have been even better (more insight into the design process and just more artworks), but I still think it's great. I leaf through it regularly and it always inspires me in one way or another.
It's also great if there are units in the book that you have to paint yet. You can copy the black and white dossiers and color in the copies with your actual paints. Great for more complex color concepts.

I was only going to grab the sets that correspond to my factions and the Space Daenerys set anyway. But it's good to know it's more than a simple one page scenario PDF, an art print and a few models.
RiTides wrote:Does anyone here own the Infinity: Artbook One, and is it worth the purchase do you think?
Definitely, worth it just for the artwork but it's really cool the insight it shares about the design process and you realise the amount of work that has gone into it. If anything, I've found my appreciation of what CB is doing with this game has grown after reading it.
I can't see anywhere this is mentioned in the recent discussion (probably just my dodgy reading skills) but are the Dire Foes limited release? Or will they be available indefinitely.
That would be completely counterproductive, I can't see a reason why they would be limited. Also there was no mention of it and that makes it even less likely.
I don't think there has been any report of them being Ltd Edition. Certainly, it would be a break from Corvus Belli's methods if they were (don't think there have been any LE miniatures released so far?)
Baiyuan wrote: That would be completely counterproductive, I can't see a reason why they would be limited. Also there was no mention of it and that makes it even less likely.
Yeah I know I was just panicky that I could miss out on the ones that I wanted Thanks for putting me at ease.
If they wanted her leaning on a wall, they would have included one. The Securitate from the Nomad Starter has a similar pose yet includes a wall.
I'm a bit late to the thread, but you're thinking of the ALEPH Posthuman box (EDIT - who is sitting on the wall in a different pose). The Securitate definitely doesn't include a wall.
IIRC Bostria and/or Interruptor said they will be doing separate models for both Scots Guards battalions. Maybe in their BoW chat during the last Infinity Week? And on the Dire Foes being a limited release, I haven't read anything confirming it or denying it, so my guess is they are not limited, just a normal release.
Infinity O-12 is reporting this for November releases:
Nomads - Intruder Sniper blister
Aleph - Machaon blister
Dire Foes - PanO V Haqqislam(Konstantinos and Yasbir)
Dire Foes - CA(Shasvastii) v Tohaa
CA - Morat Aggression Force starter box

Well, here's the Shasvastii half:
If Angel gets 3375 "Likes" on his Facebook page, he'll do a step by step of Hasht.
feth, that white blop looks like he will be wielding one of those fugly shasvastii swords again. I had hoped for a pose that actually looks like a special operative and not another power ranger.
December is still in 2013, and I thought the named month releases hit retail in Spain 'as advertised' - or has that changed now, and is the whole world now one month behind CB's Preview Months?!?
Models get previewed one month and released the next. Outside Europe you can usually add another couple of weeks so that it's 5-6 weeks after preview instead of 3-4.
Presumably we will have another, similar size boxset?
Can I give a quick shout out for the Sekban ?
Unlikely on a box set--and unlikely it would be Haqqislam, seeing as how the Haqqislam v. PanO Dire Foes is in November.
If I had to ballpark a release--assuming they're not just doing 4 releases rather than 5--, I would guess it would be a blister for Ariadna OR the long awaited Druze with Spitfire.
I'm thinking more that they might just have 4 releases in November instead of 5 though.

I wish I had that kind of knowledge. As it stands I just glean things from O-12 and release patterns.

Generally the release list that Infinity O-12 has is the complete list. BoW and MWG generally get the actual previews of the models as their 'exclusives'.
Much obliged, sir. I hope the profiles will be available to the public. I am sure many would like to play other scenarios, such as ITS or fan made, with Dire Foes characters.
Definitely more sold on this concept since seeing that reveal of the contents.
Straining my eyes at that pic, the mission format looks similar to Paradiso (although, hopefully it might be a bit more straightforward than some of the missions in that book!)
Hey lads! Would some kind soul mind doing me a solid and giving me a bit of a catch up on what I've missed? Trying to catch up on Dakka is a mountainous task and I can't even figure out which was the last page I read in this thread!
Really excited by these dire foes boxes, a interesting concept overall, when you think about it CB have basically created "DLC" for wargames, surprised no one thought of it earlier.
I'm curious if CB would have any problems me printing these out (for personal use only), I intend to get all five boxes and combine the pdfs as one book and get it printed via
Lulu, it would create a great little mini mission book, I'd just have to sort out the contents a bit.

Rolt, I'm pretty sure it would end up being one of those things where, so long as its for personal use and you aren't selling it to anyone, it'd be totally fine.
Its also a great idea and something we should probably also do with the unofficial rules reedit too
Casey's law - what was the last thing you were around to see released? Probably the Iguana release and now Dire Foes has been some of the most noteworthy.

Yes it is a really neat idea isn't it, will be interesting to see how the DLC turns out.
And, I can't see anyone having a problem with printing it off! Might be viewed in the same way as copying casette tapes back in the day
Rolt wrote: Really excited by these dire foes boxes, a interesting concept overall, when you think about it CB have basically created "DLC" for wargames, surprised no one thought of it earlier.
Couldn't any expansion created by GW, PP or Wizards considered as DLC? Admittedly they are more costly and distributed in a well known procedure. The difference I see is how CB isn't afraid to use digital media and allowing you to purchase just the part you want, that is something new to my knowledge. I'm interested how entire story of Dire Foes will unfold, the ending of the Dire Foes is an intro into the next campaign, but for that I'd need to acquire all the content of the Dire Foes, part of me likes it. It encourages interaction within the community but at the same time I'd like to have an option to buy professionally printed paper version (story, art, rules) complimented with miniatures I want (Bipandra, Konstantinos, few civilians).
RiTides & Pacific - Thanks guys, yeh Iguana was pretty much the last thing I witnessed. Nice to know I didn't miss too much! I spotted the comment that said the Morats night be dropping next release, is that substantial or more like wishlisting? That'd make me a very happy bunny. Dire Foes hasn't won me over yet, I'm still responding to it like I would any Infinity release. I'll probably fall madly in love once I here more though.
Total Wargamer have got a 'this weekend only' 25% off sale.
Should be nice for those who have been sitting on the fence until now, perhaps tentative because of the price - they have starter sets for £20 which is an absolute bargain!

This is a game about covert operations. Action doesn't happen only in battlezones, specially if we keep in mind that with exception of Paradiso and lesser conflicts that might arise in other parts of the Sphere, mankind leaves in peace. Seriously guys, it's about time you get out of the "there's only war" 40k mentality.
Actually in my mind I've depicted more than one operation in Infinity as a mission in videogames like good old Syndicate and X-Com (this one when CA involved)
Fair 'nuff. Still, you'd think an operative might be smart enough to at least not wear heels quite that high even if she'd have to blend in.
Besides that I'd mind quite a bit less if the 'covert' models weren't all 'ideal'-bodied and female with the one exception being a comic character who has one defining feature, and that being that he's a bit of a horndog. Oh well, no point in becoming Kan 2.0 here

The model I posted is not an operative. She's a generic civilian.

This game isn't about covert operations so much as it is about low intensity operations. Very big difference.
plastictrees wrote: Who says she's an operative? She could be an accountant that one side needs to capture in order to convict Space Capone.
with 300pts per side, the one civilian still in that area? Hmm, I have trouble imagining that. still, okay.
She's not the one civilian. She's the one that matters. For the sake of Dire Foes, the civilians aren't just innocent bystanders; they're objectives. We could assume that every other civilian in the area is hiding, had run away, or just doesn't matter.
Cool, thanks for posting that Kan. And Sangarn, that miniature deserves to be seen from all angles.. and what a paint job on it..
Bolognesus - interesting that you think that way. There are quite a few unofficial scenarios out there which feature civilians, something that is featured in the background and artwork a fair bit as well, and now finally the 'official' game is catching up with the concept. Kind of thought that was always one of the selling points of Infinity; that a lot of these fights are taking place covertly between special ops teams often in inhabited areas, with people just carrying on their business (rather than an open battlefield with 2 armies taking each other across crater-strewn terrain etc.. that imagery belongs to many other games! )
I don't really buy anything "covert" happening in a place anything more orderly than, say, mogadishu or somesuch with the amount of firepower the average 300pt list brings. It's not 5-10 guys (total) trying to take each other out with knives and silenced weapons and whatnot; we're laying down suppressive fire, landmines (ferchrissakes!) and firing missiles at each other - not to mention the fething TAGs everywhere - does that look 'covert' anymore? I get small-scale skirmish but this amount of firepower in a habitable zone would involve 80% of the effort dealing with panicked civilians and 20% actually shooting the other guy. Just me, perhaps.
As for the models: I wouldn't mind this one so much if it hadn't been the same fething stereotype _every_fething_time_. I understand it sells but that doesn't make it any less fething stupid IMO.
I gather from the comics thread linked just now, however, that the spanish forum almost had a literal meltdown over such issues so perhaps I should leave it at that
Obviously when the 'big guns' come out, then it stops being covert. No-one is saying this is rycin-covered umbrella tips or exploding cigars!
But look at the artwork - of street scenes, of a Shasvaasti exploding from a glass pane, Onobiwan jumping from a wall while terrified citizens look on in the background. But at the same time there is also a lot of 'open battle' type artwork as well (primarily surrounding Paradiso). Perhaps the best thing to imagine is that conflict takes place in many different types of theatres within the Infinity universe? Sometimes within civilian-populated areas, where the 'powers' are making a grab for something they need, and there is some collateral damage in the form of what ever people are unlucky enough to be in the area at the time. I think certainly enough to warrant a 'citizen' miniature and scenario, and as I've said there has been a lot of fan-made missions and material that has grown from the background CV have presented us with.
Really I think there is room for many different types of theatres of war, and of missions. As for TAGs? You need to watch the original Appleseed Manga - it's very easy to smuggle multiple large armoured suits into civilian areas, and for them then to have a massive fight!
As for the woman being too cheesecake/overtly sexualised? Well.. it's been in the game since day 1, it's part of the DNA of this game system (although it isn't always evident, and there is enough depth in the model range for it to be side-stepped). She is not 'lewd' or posed in a provocative manner, and is actually quite constrained compared to some releases, I can't see what the fuss is about. To me, if you find it that intolerable, it's kind of like enjoying 40k if you have an aversion to shoulder pads or physically-improbable flying machines
As for TAGs? You need to watch the original Appleseed Manga - it's very easy to smuggle multiple large armoured suits into civilian areas, and for then to have a massive fight!
You've intrigued me - but should I be reading the manga or watching the anime?
The civvie kind of reminds me of Nina Purpleton from Gundam 0083. Maybe this one is like her, a civilian defense contractor with top secret info pertaining to prototype weapon systems. Whatever, it's a great looking model either way.
I'm probably alone here, but I'd love to see them do the ramen delivery girl from that Yu Jing art print.
Also, what are Kriza Boracs? Is there artwork of them out there somewhere?
I like that civilian figure a lot. There's plenty of ghost-hacked civvies in Ghost in the Shell and non-combatants find themselves (or even get themselves) in the way in almost any conflict. I can easily see her in special scenarios.
Some of my favorite figures in any genre are the civilians- they really flesh out the setting.
Barzam wrote: The civvie kind of reminds me of Nina Purpleton from Gundam 0083. Maybe this one is like her, a civilian defense contractor with top secret info pertaining to prototype weapon systems. Whatever, it's a great looking model either way.
From what I understand she is a corporate executive.

None yet.
"Borac" is Serbo-Croatian for "fighter" though.
However we did get this bit about Tunguska as well:
-Tunguska will have a troop called Grenz or Grenzers seems like a LI with MSV lvl1
"Grenz" is a term used to describe Croatian or Hungarian light infantry who operated in a skirmishing role for the Habsburg Monarchy during the Napoleonic era.

Ah sorry I missed that Alpharius, this was in the original movie Anime - a bit old now (pre-CGI days), and the ending winds off a bit, but some of the action sequences (and the 'land mates' in particular) are really cool http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appleseed_(OVA)
True translation? Crisis Fighter or something similar would sound in English. I do not know the rules of Serbian and Croatian language but it sounds off in my own, like it's really rough translation, something I'd get when trying to translate German words used in industry. Maybe it sounds better in Spanish.
I also tried to say "Borac" with English in mind. Suffice to say, unless pointed out it's a Serbian word, I'd had no idea how to say it. Adding "s" for plural form only added confusion.

Wikipedia actually.
And considering that Tunguska is a faction which is made up of people from what would best be considered the former Soviet Bloc countries and Russia proper the context actually works quite well.
Crisis Fighter does have a certain ring to it, sounds like the name of some kind of 90's Japanese Shoot-em-up
The 25% off sale at Total Wargamer ends this evening, currently toying with new faction I need to buy.. torn between a Military Order force, regular Pan O (with Jotum.. although now that Tunguska is on the way makes me less inclined!) and the Nomad Corregidor force to go with the 'space station' terrain I want to make with that new Battle Systems kickstarter...

I'm disappointed. I rarely take the general force and I'm waiting for NCA re sculpts (armoured cavalry, fusiliers and new medium infantry) before diving in the sectorial. Granted I do not know how Dire Foes will operate and how spec ops shall fit in the new scenarios.

IMO Yasbir ((Infiltration, Holoprojector L2 AND smoke grenade RLY !!!) and lupe (mimetism PZF BS 12 for 22 pts) are over cheated
and Bipandra is totaly useless: medic in fireteam are useless and alone she have nothing. trash profile.
Bipandra has WIP of 13 for PanO its fantastic, she is aloso a Specialist which is a plus and a doctor inside a fireteam is quite useful either to keep the fireteam alive or be escorted with bodyguards.
To be honest I would be more afraid of Non Infiltrating Yasbir, Holoprojector lvl 1 in a Muyib link team is fantastic I think he will be part of my Bahram fireteam.

Considering she's in a skirt, heels and collared blouse, holding a briefcase, chances are she's a civilian, like her profile suggests, going to work in an office where such garb is normal for humans of the feminine sex. I wouldn't expect her looking in place in on a jungle board. On a city board she fits right in as a civilian working in the area.
Well, we'll be seeing a whole -lot- of these guys on the table.
I'm quite happy with Yuriko, actually. Not too powerful, but her gear layout will make for some really interesting play. I almost always use helper-bots for my engineers, but with hyperdynamics 1 and a scary anti-armor weapon I think she'll be part of the banzai charge pretty often (which usually happens when my heavy hitters all die and the link team goes on the offensive).

The fire team is possible only for NCA. Apart seemingly random SWC tax and medikits, her profile is on pair with similar troops, like Kaplan. Still doesn't change the dislike I have for her statistics. In an instant I'd trade extra ARM for mimetism or hyperdynamics.

There are many reasons why a civilian can be found on a battlefield and be entirely inappropriately dressed for the situation.

Doctors in infinity cant be in fire team, U cant use bot in fireteam. She cant be alone.
So you can use her medic skill only on hers fusillier fireteam. Who the feth is gonna waste order to (fail) heal some pompom at 10 pts ? No one.
her only use is in neoterra sectorial (that is the worst sectorial of infinity in term of diversity) and even there take a deva hacker for few pts more, he will be 10 time more usefull.
just compare her stat line with lupe LOL

Doctors don't have to use Servants to be effective. If she's already in the Fireteam she's already in the right place to heal a model that's just gone down, for example a Fusilier HMG or ML.

Uh, no. This is the army that has the Cutter. As for NeoTerra, rumors are that they will be getting a -lot- of cool stuff in the next book, possibly including a remote that shoots mines (that's right, mine the whole board from where you stand).
There are a few less-effective units in each army (Yu Jing;s Pheasant is a good example). PanO has plenty of killer units, plus arguably the best boosted stat in the game (BS). CB are definitely not hating on the boys in blue.
I think it's just a case of each sub-faction getting padded out in turn. The MO have had a lot of attention so far, with a good part of their roster released (the Seraph being one of the more notable absences), but I should imagine more stuff is on its way once the sculptors turn their attention in different directions.

I know, I'm just saying this civvie actually looks like a civvie completely unrelated to the armed forces. Just someone going to work. Which is something that definitely fits Infinity, given the lack of battlefields outside of Paradiso.
Barzam wrote: Seeing as how Pan-O is the only faction getting 3 new figures out of Dire Foes, I'd say CB likes them just fine.
Would trade (official joke) Angus for one of those lovely female civilians. I'm getting the Dire Foes, there hasn't been a new release that would hype me in a long time, most of the releases being centred around Military Order. Considering the interviews the sectorial is very popular (for some reason), however it does leave others to wait.
ITS changed a lot of things, the importance of specialists, mission objectives and the game being limited to three rounds. Cutter is a big bully that enjoys straight confrontation but my own community tends to veto such missions, because simply no one enjoys to play them. I feel CB wants to avoid things like him in the future. It would not surprise me to see more K1 or similar options in play, anyway not to digress too much. ITS wants specialists (certain armies are very lacking them) and it's easy to see why many would feel disappointed when seeing Bipandra profile and then someone's like Lupe or Tohaa. If you're one of us who also isn't very hot on MO you probably also had great hope for this specific PanOceania release. It is not over until scenarios are fully shown (new ITS and Dire Foes) and if it all fails, there's always the next release.
well i'm sure all non-MO PanO player feel like me,
Bipandra is supposed to be the spec ops of the most advanced sectorial (neo-tera is the HQ of panoceania) of the most advanced faction
and they give us Barbie instead of Batgirl !

So far all we know about the "Bolts"(new Neoterran unit) is that it is roughly analogous to the Wildcats and that they have an underslung mine launcher.
Automedikit, if I remember correctly, is an item which only affects the individual with the Automedikit.

Shae has suggested that Dire Foes aren't until the 25th at the earliest. Going by the Corvus Belli online store is at best useless as they do not usually put items up for order until after retailers have already received their items and had them on sale for at least a week.
Personally, I really love the Hassassins helmet and Myibs overall, so I am quite pleased with the composition and the pose, the reverse knife aiming at the throat in particular.
I can't wait to see the scenario and make a 300 pts list around this character.

PsychoticStorm wrote: Personally, I really love the Hassassins helmet and Myibs overall, so I am quite pleased with the composition and the pose, the reverse knife aiming at the throat in particular.
I don't get the fascination with pointing out the allegedly deal killer of a model not wearing a helmet.
Artistic license and a human face over a featureless hightech ceramic plastic dome is OK every now and then!
Not saying it's a dealkiller it's just really puzzling and immediately the first thing that I noticed.
The scenario is called "Viral Outbreak", she's wearing a Hazmat suit and is included with Hasht(Shasvastii) and Aelis(Tohaa) plus this is a game where there is actually an attribute for "Biotechnological Shield" which is for Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical attacks...but then they decide she has to be unhelmeted?
Is it really too much to ask for the Hazmat in Viral Outbreak to be wearing a helmet when almost the entirety of the other VIPs(Angus being the notable exception) are almost all "postergirls"?
Casey's Law wrote: It may just be angel working his brand of magic but that looks like it might be Corvus' best face to date.
Agreed!
Too bad she wasn't wearing that helmet so you couldn't tell though, eh?
Well considering they bothered making an entire Dire Foes set predicated upon an inside joke, they could at least have bothered to make a single civilian that isn't a postergirl.
I'm relieved that the 2nd wave of Dire Foes has models that I actually like - the office civilian, Yasbir and the Tohaa Spec are definitely things I'll get.
You can count me among those who find it odd to produce a figure in a hazmat suit and not actually have her wearing the helmet. That does kind of defeat the purpose of it. Plus, maybe it's just me, but she looks an aweful lot like the Maghariba Guard Pilot. Her helmet looks kind of like the kind the Hassassin wear, too. If she'd been wearing it, maybe she could have been used as a "counts-as" figure.
I'm not saying she isn't well sculpted though. That figure looks great. I just find it odd do to a hazmat suit wearing figure that isn't actually wearing the gear sealed up.
Actually, with a spare arm and some greenstuff to fix up around the shoulders, it should be doable to put the helmet back on. Doesn't quite fix the pose, but it would help a lot.

Wow. Both Yasbir and the civvie look phenomenal. Even if Konstantinos looks bad (doubtful) that pack will be great for me. Yasbir will make an excellent standin for a lot of different Hassassin.

Look up. The post I made of a big image has part of the Shasvastii and Tohaa models.
Oh cool, the Tohaa model looks like a femal Gao Tarsos going by the leg armour, though I'll assume without the jump pack.
I forgot the Hazmat civvie was from that box. Looks like I'll definitely be buying both boxes. If the Shasvastii spec ops is good, it might convince me to put together my force I started putting together before my Tohaa.
Elo system, small letters are used as it is named after Arpad Elo. Many games modify the system and use it as a basis for matchmaking. I do hope the negativity that follows in the public Elo ranking system does not creep into Infinity players.
More emphasis on a specific specialists and spec ops. Perhaps not so surprising, shortly before the Paradiso release I can recall an interview where Mr. Carlos was saying something in the line of: "Infinity has beautiful miniatures and we at Corvus want to give the collectors a chance to use them all". Though the (Paradiso) scenarios do shuffle the normal lists and change the feeling of the game, I didn't enjoy them. Certain armies have no problems of fielding any kind of specialists. Of course these are only first thoughts, looking forward on hearing more.
As much as I'm not too much of a fan of Konstantinos's and Yasbir's overly dramatic posing, I think they would look amazing when placed next to one another in a diorama.
Sort of like this:
These miniatures look excellent. Think the dramatic posing suits them in the sense that these guys are meant to be heroes, not red-shirts (so to speak)
But the important point - PsychoticStorm, what do you think?
The Konstantinos model is making me rethink buying the set. And not in the good way. I really do not mind the pose but the detail on the arms look too much like muscle and I do not like muscle on armoured models.
And something that's bugged me about the Tohaa gear, what's the point of those ammo belts running into their arms? Do they have weapons built into their arm armor?
And something that's bugged me about the Tohaa gear, what's the point of those ammo belts running into their arms? Do they have weapons built into their arm armor?
They are not ammo belts. It seems to be a containment system of some sort for symbiotic armor on the Ektros and Hatails, but as of right now I do not think there has been an explanation as to what precisely they are.
I'm guessing it has to be something to do with the symbiote armour - the Tohaa concept is one of organic machinery and devices, and of blurred lines between the two, having the ammunition feeding into their armour I think falls under the same kind of idea.
That video was very cool, would love to see some high res photo of all of the Dire Foes miniatures arranged together like that..

It's not Armour, its Fibermuscle.
Its still muscle.

Also are those armour plates on the upper arm?
It looks like it! Also, you can't argue with PsychoticStorm about that topic as the miniature is him!
It shouldn't make any difference, unless something has changed in the new tournament rules. As long as the mini is on the base it was supplied with its good. I still have the old pretas on 40mm bases and all of my sapper models are mounted on 25mm bases because thats what they came with.
Your Sogarat should be fine, but bear in mind that the Morat look that they will be getting the Corregidor treatment(a revamp of the range). I would not be surprised to see Sogarat given a larger base size similar to Ajax and bulkier models.
I would not be surprised too, but 40mm might be a big stretch, maybe we will see the introduction of 30mm base, that would be quite interesting for game balance.
I had hoped for a pose with a ranged weapon. CC is a messy affair and any PanO player should steer away from it. The pose is otherwise nice, I do hope for an easy assembly of the upper part.
It could very well be just a Sogarat that happens to be posed on a 40mm base. Remember that we have Moblots on 25mm and 40mm bases just because one is lying down.
Well 30mm could be a problem for people like me who buy their bases :p

The one on 40mm is actually meant to be a specific profile, that of the "Sapper(HMG)".

I'll bet that if CB starts using 30mm bases, they'll do just that!

the highlander cateran is on 40mm base just for scenery purpose
acontecimento sniper regular have the sapper rule but 25mm base
no logic :p
There are 6 profiles(Moblot with HMG, Zouave with HMG and Zouave with Sniper Rifle, Aconticemento Regular Sniper, Haiduk with Guided MSR, Haiduk with MSR) with the Sapper rule currently. Of those 6 profiles, 4 are on 40mm bases rather than 25mm.
You are correct that there is no logic to it, but the complaints about the bizarre basing and the rather loose "Base it on the base the model comes with" rule might prompt a revision.
Personally? I think that standardizing 40mm for Sappers and a rule for "Bulky" models like Ajax or making larger Sogarat on the same 40mm bases would not be unwelcome. Along with a larger base size introduced for TAGs so we can get rid of the dang extensions.
Ajax isn't just bulky though. He's literally a superhuman giant. It makes sense to have him on a 40mm base. He's basically a Dog-Warrior in size.
There's also the Para-Commando and the Sniper Cateran on a 40mm base. They're not bulky. The Para-Commando is an old model, but the Cateran is just an unbulky dude without Sapper.
This Sogarat we're getting on a 40mm base doesn't necessarily mean all Sogarats are supposed to be on 40mm from here on. The new Fuererbach model may just be entrenched for aesthetic purposes.
Ick. I hope it isn't an entrenched pose. I'd rather have him in a braced firing pose. I'd be fine with this one just being a fair bit bigger than the previous Sogarat. They're supposed to be some of the baddest of the bad, so I could see there being some huge guys among them.
From the concept art he is not Ajax sized, so I am skeptical on been in 40mm, that leaves 30 and 35mm I don't think I have seen any 35mm bases so it would probably go on 30mm.
Kanluwen wrote: There are 6 profiles(Moblot with HMG, Zouave with HMG and Zouave with Sniper Rifle, Aconticemento Regular Sniper, Haiduk with Guided MSR, Haiduk with MSR) with the Sapper rule currently. Of those 6 profiles, 4 are on 40mm bases rather than 25mm.

There are models without sapper rule which also use a 40mm base, like the Paracommando with light grenade launcher. The miniature is a minidiorama with the guy picking his gear up. I've read in the Spanish forum that the Sogarat will indeed use a 40mm base. I think that came from the same tournament where they shown the profiles last week. So that probably came from Bostria. Or maybe from Javier Ureña (the digital sculptor). Using bigger bases for TAGs and remotes is a recurrent issue in the forum, and the answer is always the same. The bigger the base, the lest gaps the mini has to maneuver through the scenery.
I've never been a fan of the 'base must fit to move through' rule. I can understand the reasons for doing it, in having a hard rule that is unambiguous, but we always house rule that if it looks like the miniature could physically move through a gap (be it TAG, remote, personnel or whatever) then it can. Otherwise it has got a whole 'Darleks can't go up stairs' feel about it.
Of course the Maghariba, being vaguely spider-like, can fit through much smaller gaps than you might otherwise imagine
We pretty much play it the same way. If it looks like the model should be able to fit through, we allow it. Pretty much for any game. The only caveat is if the model needs to end movement in the gap, then it can't, since you can't physically leave the model in there.
For LoS purposes it makes it easier to just not allow them to move through if they can't make it through. It's better than just saying 'lol nope' to some unfortunate model who happened to get a 40mm base like the Cateran sniper, without conflating the issue by having LoS arguments.
Pacific wrote: I've never been a fan of the 'base must fit to move through' rule.
I thought the rule was more like: "If the actual volume of the miniature could realistically fit through, you can ignore the base when squeezing through a tight passage, but may not end your movement in there. You have to pop out on the other side." If only I knew where I read that...
IJW beat me to it...
Right. There's a rule in Paradiso for passing through mission-specific doorways. That's it.
Otherwise all we've got to go on is an FAQ for transmutation:
- What if a Dogface suffers a wound that causes the transmutation in a place where as Dog-Warrior physically do not fit? (For example, a very narrow hallway, a ventilation duct ...)
The transmuted Dog-Warrior in a place too close is Immobilized. If it can be released or not will depend on the terrain.Plaster walls are not the same as the reinforced walls of a base or a bunker. To address the possibility of his release, players must reach an agreement or leave it to the referee if there is a tournament.
Which I've always taken as meaning you can move the model wherever it could fit in real life, because the model and base wouldn't have fit into the ventilation duct in the first place unless it was absolutely massive.
Red Comet wrote: This is probably a dumb question, but are the missions in the Dire Foes packs intended for use with the models in the pack only?
Models in the pack plus a 300pt list each. It's basically 300pt list + character vs 300pt list + character with the civilian being the objective in some way.

That sounds pretty interesting. Thanks for the info!

I'l thinking it well be along the lines of... <fluff> sharing info and working togather we found are target... <game> we found "it" now were going to have to kill you and take it for are self.
Recent news.
Those Tokens seem to be some product placement in the latest miniature releases.
Now, on their Facebook page CB announces a new partnership with a company named "Customeeple".
I really like the look of the stat marker, now if they fitted together so I could just pick up and move them. Instead of just setting next to each other, I'd be all over them.
The Intruder looks absolutely awesome, but I hate these flimsy breaky sniper rifle barrels so much that it will probably prevent me from buying the miniature.
I love the new Intruders design. I might have to get those eventually. The Ectros was a surprise for me. I didn't know they were making a new version. He looks cool, too. I like that he's got both feet on the ground this time. If they keep making Tohaa figures like him, I may have to eventually buy some of their figures as well.
Wow.. some awesome stuff over this page. The Intruder sniper is great, so too the Aleph doctor which although quite minimalistic is actually probably my favourite sculpt there.
Konstantinos vs. yasbir is a certain purchase for me (both great miniatures, and love the civilian mini), and will no doubt by the other just for the Hasmat mini..
The new templates and tokens seem like a neat ideas as well - wonder how many miniature silhouettes they will release?
Oh man, that Ectros! I was quite happy proxying my Ectros from the starter as a HMG, but I'll but that.

Not really. Aleph vs Nomads makes sense, because Nomads directly oppose Alephs influence over humanity. Tohaa and Nomads don't have any particular bad blood between them. Tohaa vs Combined makes sense, given the new T'zechi fluff. Tohaa are the last remaining herald race proctecting the digesters from the Combined Army, who are a seeker race, and have been opposing them for thousands of years. There's no more bad blood between Aleph and CA than humanity as a whole and CA, really.
Yes that's right, according to background Aleph vs. Nomads would make the most sense - Nomads have rebelled against the changes to humanity and society that Aleph represent (there are certainly a lot of sinister-sounding undertones regarding the latter in some of the stories)
