Gitsplitta: Thanks!

Arakasi: check out the improved right one

monkeytroll: In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, there is only ... orange! . Glad you like the drones, and the third one's been grottified!

Jordankeeps: Thank you!

Baiyuan: Thanks!

sum1thtdiesalot: glad you like'em! The spider drone uses up a lot of bits, otherwise I'd build a whole unit like him.

Anung Un Rama: feel free to loot! Will you be using them for your orks, or did you have something special in mind?

Now, a small update again: I upgraded the third drone, and started on a first servitor. The drone still needs a controller, the servitor needs gs, gubbins done on the head, and a controller. After this guy, I only need to build one more servitor and three grot controllers, and the army is ready for the tourney on Sunday - more comfortable then the last time I took the little guys to a tournament

So, the upgraded Tau drone:

And the WIP servitor. I used some random bits on him, including: an obliterator assault cannon barrel, a catachan power fist, a valk door gunner body, and a servitor arm I got in a bitz trade.

I'll be upgrading his backapck and making his head look lioke a servitor before I'm calling him done. So, opinions? Do you guys like the improved drone? And does the servitor look like he could represent a loota?

The drone looks good with the face plates, much more grotty

The servitor could certainly pass as a loota with those guns, it just depends on how well you get across the idea of it being controlled by the grot. Which I think you can do

Improved right one is definitely improved! Looking less Tau and more Grot now

Servitor looks good - just can't help thinking he should be bigger

The drones look great. They make wonderful Lootas. The servitor i scool too. He definitely needs some radio control antenna thing, though, or something to look less sentient. I know you can pull it off though. The grots on the buggy look fantastic. I love the two leaning over the rails. Having them pointing that way really opens the model up.

ps: I'll be copying that last drone when I get home. I got a storm bolter bit like the oneon there by mistake and I've been wondering where I could use it. Thanks for the answer!

The drones are ace. Looking forward to them getting oranged

I think that the servitor needs a bit more work to bring it together. The metal arm doesn't gel too well with the rest of the model. Also the pose is a little dynamic in my view. Servitors are supposed to be awkward and pretty simple in their movements. Also if I can be really picky the assault cannon needs some kind of ammo hopper (right, I'm done *goes back to lurking*)

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

The Servitor looks incredibly bad-ass. Though I'm also wondering on how it will look next to the rest of your army.

I still need Lootas for my Ork army, but I don't want to use the regular ones. They look awesome, but I want to do something new.

monkeytroll: Thanks, I agree the drone fits in better now. The servito's had a grot add and a remote antenna; best I can do, but it should be clear what's going on once painted and in the whole unit.

Arakasi: Thanks! And the second ogryn servitor will have his part in the squeaky waagh, don't worry!

Tyranic Marta: Thank you, glad you like it!

The Good Green: Glad you like'em, and sdevitrot will (hopefully) look more controlled once finsihed and painted! The two grots added some life to the buggy, and the way they're hangin on adds a lot of movement. Feel free to loot the drone idea, just make sure to post pics

Flinty: Thanks! Painting will be a tad slower though, as is usually the case with me . As fort he servitor: the main problem with the metal arm is that it looks metallic. I agree the psoe is very natural, but I really like ot that way. I've considered turning into a sergeant Harker at one point for my IG . Still, I believe the sophistication of a servitor makes it move awkwardly; maybe this one has better software? Agree on the ammo hopper, it's been added!

Anung Un Rama: Yep, that's one nasty servitor . I agree that they look very different from the res tof the army, but I'm hoping the paintjob and the grots will tie them all in. If iot doens't work, i'm sure i can change him into something useful for my IG or something. Looking forward to your take on the drones!

Now, I finally finished the servitors and drones including grots. My modelling time has been drastically reduced due to the birth of my ghodchild and unexpected family stuff, so the army will go to the team tourney as it stands. I've had to rush the last servitro, but I'll come back to him after the tourney. His grot still needs a brainlink to him, and I need to finish the bit the grot is standing on.

Piccies:

The grot is hiding behind the servitor, you can jus tmake out his remote.

this one is still WIP, he needs alot more detailing and stuff done to him. Still he'll do for Sunday!

And two group shots:

Hope you guys like'em!

Gitsplitta: Thanks! Since building is pretty much done, I'm hoping painting might go a bit faster, provided I don't get sidetracked of course

SilverMK2: Thanks!

Tyranic Marta: Thank you! The range of weaponry is due to an extensive bits box- and even more excessive scrounging with my gaming buddies

Anung Un Rama: Yep, two fivers. I don't have points for more, and this way they're less of a threat. Plus, I can counteract the random d3 shots a bit this way. They're in the list for support against mech stuff and the like, so I don't need 45 of'em like in the classic ork gunlines. It's worked for me so far, but then I've played maybe 10 games with them. Still, the fact that they're a small unit (usually in cover), means most opponents will focus on the more immediate threats, so they can happily do their stuff.

That would of course make it easier for to work on another really crazy idea for lootaz, if I would only build 5.

For the Tau drones, I could easily build 5 more, the basic Tau drone has a ton of possibilities if you have a decent bitz box. With the servitors, I felt more restricted both by my bitz box and the existing fluff/models. I'd still love to do a second Tau drone gone wild, with a grot hangin on a rope/chain (probably based on a fantasy night goblin fanatic). If I ever build a 6th one, that's going to be it

Hey guys, I've returned from a long and gruelling journey into the Void also known as real life, but now the grots are back!

To prove it, here's a few shot sof the smaller stuff I've been working on:

And a comparison shot between a stock figure and its conversion:

And some random stuff on the painting table right now:

Besides these, I'm also working on some kans and my final buggy, but I'll show these once they're is some more paint on them. And, of course, I'll also start working on a stompa . Cheers and thanks for checking in!

What did you do with the left hand on that grot?

I cut off the left arm right behind the piece of cloth attached to the gun. I then added a bracelet and a hand from another grot, giving the gun, so it looks like it has a side grip (think stengun). I hope this pic will make things clearer:

And with the original model:

Arakasi, sum1thtdiesalot: thanks, it's goot be back! I'm struggling a bit with my stompa right now, I hope to have pics up tomorrow or so!

moonshine: Thanks! The malifaux stuff looks good, I love the hilbilly look of those gremlins.

Anung Un Rama: a (very fuzzy) burnagrot. here's a better pic:

Now, onto the main course for this evening . I've had a stompa lying around for over a year now, given to me by my loving (and understanding) wife. I've had all kinds of crazy ideas about making it walk and stuff, but in the end I decided to make a 'normal' stompa. Now, I could've built it straight out of the box. Right? Of course I can't . The basic stompa look owes a lot to the old (as in the eighties old) epic models. The warlord titan got an upgrade, the revenant and the warlock titan did, but the poor stompa was left out. Besides, the basic shape is orky ands I want grotty!

So, in orde to get away from the 'flower pot of doom' look, I decided to invert the thing. The shoulders became the hips, and the head will bez lowered and moved to the front, more hunchbacked. Hope these pics will make things a bit clear:

The head will go here:

It will be higher then a regular stompa, which doens't really bother me. Also, I'll try magnetizing the arms, allowing for a klawstompa or a big mek stompa.

So, opinions?

Oh the indignity. It's not enough you take pics of him wihout his arms and with his legs in pieces. You have to take pics of him on his potty too.

I like the idea of flipping it, gives it a more aggresive silhouette. Plus you get that nice flat area on top to play around with.
