I like that Idea. Perhaps make the top of it some sort of landing pad type thing. Youve got a large flat area to do something with.

Yay! Your back. Let the Grot Madness continue!

The burnagrot is looking good, really nice vibrant orange. The Grot Stompa looks like it has a lot of potential, and I'm sure that when it is assembled that it'll look Epic (no pun intended).

monikeytroll: best to get him angry as quick as possible . I agree about the more agressive look, and that's what I was going for. Also, it suits the basically ape-like greenskin physionomy better, always a plus IMO - after all, titans are built to mimic their race, not flower pots .

sum1thtdiesalot: The flat area on top will probably house some engine stacks and a launch pad for the grot bombs- with a commissar and some grots with kamikaze headbands . All stompa variants have these in common, so I figure they can go on top. And maybe a crow's nest with a big shoota too, depending on whim and bitz .

Vitruvian XVII: thank you! Let's hope the 'unlike everything I've ever seen' remains a compliment

Gathering Storm: Thanks! And it's meant to look better then Epic

dakkamakka, green_oni: Thanks guys!

moonshine: thanks for the links, these look pretty interesting. For the stompa, I have some grot general heads who will serve for the commander!

MajorTom11: Giving up on the crack would be easier on my wallet . Still, too much fun to be had like this!

So, piccie time. I built the basic leg shape, allowing the stompa to stand. The legs haven't been glued on yet, so I can properly detail them. I've also started on the head, getting the shape and place right. I added a manticore turret where I'll make grot launch pad, thoug that one will probably look more like a pulsa rokkit launcher. Still, it should give you guys an idea of size and options. The top is pretty huge, so I'll be adding plenty of detailing there.

The next challenge is attaching the arms, and preferably in a magnetizable way so I can turn him into a klawstompa or a big mek stompa. Comments and suggestions welcome as always!

Liking it so far.

I'm assuming there's going to be varied cabling, support struts and the like helping to beef up the hip axles.

For the shoulders are you looking to come straight out the sides, or have you thought about building up some kind of 'shoulder pad' on the roof space, so the actual shoulder join would be the approximate height of that handily placed manticore's launcher axle?

Monkeytroll: Glad you like it There's going to be plenty of pistons and cabling, but I'll only add those once I've settled on the final position for the legs. Right now, I can still mess around with them if the balance is off after I've added the arms. The joints will be high on the sides, but not built up that high. Also, I want the arms straight , not hanging like on a warlord titan. I'm going for an arm attachment similar to a dread, with the arm itself pretty high (the cc arm anyway). Right now, the 'joints' are 3 cm lower then were you would put them.

Arakasi: shoulder pads will be on the arms, that way I can mess around with them and I keep my options with the arms (and their positioning) open. Grot bombs will go on the nice big top surface right now, together with some stubbas, since that loadout is shared by all stompa variants.

So, minor update: I assembled the gun arm, and only did some minor tweaking to the basic shape. It's not detailed yet, but it'll do for now. For both arms, I built up joint sticking approximately 1 cm out of the body to allow for movement, and built in a metal plate to which I can attach magnets. That way, I can position the arms how I want, and I can exchange arms to make the other stompa variants. I didn't build up the shoulders too much, since a) the ceiling is a bit lower the the armour plating, creating ramparts on top, b) it would put the arms too high and c) I want the arms to be poseable, which is harder with big shoulders, especially if the mimic a warlord titan'sd profile. If I build the shoulders on top, I'm loosing a lot of room for fun detailing, so that's a no-no.

A pic of the basic body, with gun arm showing the attachment system.

The gun arm was easy, since I liked it. I think the cc arm is a bit weedy however, so that'll need modifying.

Some things I'm pondering right now:

- should I use the chainsaw or build a huge PK?
- How will I detail the interior of the head? (note: not "will I do it?", but: "how will I do it?")
- Should I add some weight in the bottom of the stompa? I feel that a lower point of gravity might be safer for this kind of model.
- Aircraft carrier like launch area for grot bombs, or more pulsa rokkit style? Or both?
- Do I have enough snotlings ot fit on there?
- Where did I leave all my plasticard (don't you love moving house.. ..)

Weight in the feet or base of body would be very good.

You need some of the old, old grot bomb lauch rigs to go along with that model...

Sound reasoning on the arm positioning, just wanted to throw out the idea

An attempt at some answers:

- Use the chainsaw as part of a huge PK
- Groterati looking out of each eye, each trying to control the stompa, whilst the Prinz-Ups yells commands at them.
- Yes, is it possible to put some BB's or similar into the feet?
- Personally, I think the launch-ramp style would be better suited, but hell, go for BOTH
- No

- In a box, hidden away behind a ton of stuff you've forgotten about already.

Hope that helps

Wow, that looks really, really cool. I'm tempted to steal the idea for my own Stompa. I always wanted mine to be a stage for the old Goff rocker models I once bought and this seems like good way to pull it off. Although I really don't see how I could build him a pair of decent looking legs.

Gitsplitta: Glad you like it! I'll definitely be adding some with to the one foot that is still open. There's also a blank plate on his belly, so I can always perfrom some stomach surgery to add some weight; that should lower the COG as well. Do you have pics of the old pulsa rokkits?

monkeytroll: Idea was good, just not in my configuration

- Groterati looking out of each eye, each trying to control the stompa, whilst the Prinz-Ups yells commands at them.

- Nice idea, I'll be going with that!
- Groterati and Prinz-Ups - love those names. Incidentally, a grot fits through the eyes , so I'm going to have a groterati hanging out and shouting
- will be done!
- Launch ramp would be nice, but then I'd waste the chain-pulling system that's normally for the feet.
- I'm afraid you're right - time to order a new bunch!
- Behind the wife's sewing machine, but you were pretty close

bigfish: I agree the regular chainsaw will be weedy. Especially with the biggerizing of the arm I did.

Anvildude: I agree, orks are all about variety! Do you have pics of your stompa? Couldn't find any in the gallery.

Anung Un Rama: Plenty of room on top for a stage. If you really wanted to, you could build in some small boxes and hide an mp3 player in it somewhere .
Although I really don't see how I could build him a pair of decent looking legs.

Is there something you dislike about mine? The hardest part on the legs are susually feet, but since I could recycle the stompa's feet... If it's about the bits: you ncould easily build a silmilar shape out of plasticard, so that shouldn't hold you back. I was just lazy, and since I converted all my chimera turrets...

whalemusic360: Glad you feel like that . I'm thinking about making the grot bomb into kamikaze jets, so a launch platform is still in!

The Good Green: Thanks! Mkaing it look more orky was definitely the idea. All races build titans like them, so I figured the greenskins would do the same. Gork is not a flowerpot!

ChaplainTed: Thanks! And: what's holding you back?

OK, piccie time again. I built up the right upper arm. Which took quite some time because a) it had to be very solid and b ) I had to figure out how to attach the lower arm and the eventual cc weapon, which will most likely be a PK. Here's how he's looking right now. Most work was doen on the arm, and I also closed the head a little.

The upper arm; the shape comes from a BW top:

And the attachment mechanism, which will hopefully allow for some movement. Not sure if I'll be able to keep it once the lowe rpart is attached, but we'll see about that when we get there. Basically, I can insert a peg with a bit of tubing around, allowing for movement of the lower arm; stolen from the SM's dread arms, basically. The upper arm can still rotate, and I'll only close the top once I'm sure the lower doens't need counterweighting, sinc eI'd like to keep the movable arm as a feature.

So, opinions? Do you guys think keeping it moveable will work out?

I certainly like the idea of keeping it moveable.
I'd guess at that size, the weight might make it harder to keep it in place. Maybe a series of magnets around the axle of the elbow-joint, so you'd have four or five different positions it could be posed in? (Think that makes sense, but then again, I know what I'm trying to say )

Gitsplitta: looking forward to the pics!

monkeytroll: Made perfect sense to me - but I'm crazy . I'm going to try something like that, but with magnets on one side only. That way, it can move real smooth - if it works. The weight of the arm is a bit of an issue here, I hope I'll be able to keep the shoulder posable...

Lord Poison: No

Big Mek Dattrukk: You should go and see monkeytroll for the brain thingy, I'm sure he can fix it .

Now, cc arm update! I got the basic shape finished, turning the weedy chainsaw into a decent looking PK. I managed to keep the arm movable at shoulder, elbow and wrist so far, but the shoulder may have to go if the magnets can't keep it posable - only time will tell.

So, some pics of the stompa with his shiny new arm:

I like the orkiness it adds to the total profile. Now, I'll be detailing the torso and adding weight to the feet and the lower torso. After that, it's time to detail the cc arm and try to fit in enough counterweight to keep it posable on all joints - I'll update as I progress!

And to prove the arm is posable (with the first - but not the last- moving piston on the stompa!):

Now he can reall reach out and touch his opponents
