Subject: Forge World HH and 40K News and Rumors. Kor Phaeron and Erebus leaked pics pg 40 -
I'll attempt to collect all of the 40K and HH Forge World news and rumors in this thread. I'll keep this first post updated with the current newsletter and any "Upcoming" rumors as best I can, following Kroothawk's excellent example. I'll let others keep track of the Forge World Fantasy News and Rumors as I don't play or know anything about Fantasy.
First off:
Spoiler:
US Games Day was this past weekend. There is an excellent thread full of pictures here!
One of the most advanced armoured units in the arsenal of the Great Crusade, the Sicaran Battle Tank was the exclusive province of the Space Marine Legions. The Sicaran utilises component technologies from various STC patterns to create a high-speed ‘destroyer’ tank to complement the more commonplace Predator and Land Raider designs.
The primary armament of the main Sicaran variant is the sophisticated Herakles pattern accelerator autocannon, a superior rapid-firing and highly accurate weapon. It fires shells at far higher velocities than a standard autocannon, enabling it to successfully track and engage swift moving targets and pinpoint vulnerabilities in enemy armour with lethal precision.
The Sicaran Battle Tank, designed by Phil Stutcinskas, is a complete resin kit. This model is available to pre-order now and will be despatched from Friday 30th August.
"With such weapons as these at the forefront of our Great Crusade, we shall lay low the xenos, strike down ignorance and cast the shadows of Old Night beyond the borders of the galaxy. With reason and enlightenment comes unification and glory, and a thousand times a thousand years of prosperity, all in the name of the Emperor of Mankind."
Iterator Jhorvus Mhal, during the Thirteen Realms Campaign
Legion Heavy Flamers
The heaviest of the portable Legiones Astartes ‘Volkite’ weapons, the Volkite Culverin is a thermal ray weapon of ancient provenance. Its beam has a devastating effect on organic matter, explosively burning flesh into ash and jetting fire.
Heavy Flamers are often deployed by Legiones Astartes units either as area denial weapons or to force enemy infantry from fortified positions. A variety of different chemicals have been used as fuel for these fearsome weapons, all of them designed to ignite on contact with the atmosphere. The Volkite Culverin and Heavy Flamers sets each contain ten detailed resin weapons which can be combined with our resin Space Marine Legion Infantry, such as the Legiones Astartes Mk II, Mk III and Mk IV armour sets, to construct Legion Heavy Support Squads.
Designed by Will Hayes, these sets are available to pre-order now and will be despatched from Friday 30th August.

Spoiler:
GAMES DAY FORGE WORLD INFO
Hello!
I was lucky enough to get to Games Day UK today and attend the Forge World seminar AND get the Horus Heresy Book One ‘Betrayal’ AND get an Angron model!
Now that I’ve got that out there, here’s what I found out….
Warhammer 40K:
There will also be a Dark Eldar Imperial Armour book at some point in the future.
Horus Heresy: Betrayar
There are no plans yet for Torgaddon and Little Horus although it was talked about.
Horus Heresy Book 2: Massacre
Book 2 is Isstvan 5 Part One!
It will feature Mechanicum models, Word Bearers, Night Lords, Salamanders and Iron Hands! Very exciting stuff!
In the Q+A session we were told that there is a new titan variant coming (possible a Warlord!) and that there will be a Stormbird variant coming as well! We will also see Daemon primarchs at some point later down the line and that there would probably be a book covering the Mechanicum battle of Mars!
After emailing FW about Sons of Horus Rhino and Land Raider doors, I got this reply.
Hi,
Thanks for your e-mail. Having designed Brass Etch and a Transfer Sheet for the Sons of Horus, we felt that vehicles doors wouldn't add anything different to the symbols and iconography available, as all our vehicle kits are supplied with blank doors that the decals and brass can easily fit onto.
If there is anything further we can do to assist you, or if you have any queries about the information we have requested or provided, please telephone us.
Regards,
Forge World
Hi there.
Our book production team are currently working on a pdf update for the DKK but they have quite a busy work schedule currently. We are hoping to publish this within the next month.
Forge World wrote:Anything that is removed from the website is, sadly, discontinued. Some of these kits (such as the Lightning) will be redesigned in future, but the Ork Fighta will not be, largely because of the new plastic kit available from Games Workshop
(...)
Sorry, we were slightly misleading there - the Voss Pattern Lightning is the redesign, we have no plans to return the old one to production.
Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Subject: Forge World HH and 40K News and Rumors Thread. Newsletter #332: World Eater Rampagers
Hi there, This week we bring you news of an eagerly anticipated Legion squad release, the fearsome World Eaters Rampagers, as well as a new Legion weapon set, and five new Legion shoulder pad sets too!
World Eaters Legion Rampager Squad
The Rampager squads of the World Eaters were formed of the most savage and bloodthirsty Space Marines in a Legion already notorious for its fury in battle. All underwent the prohibited psycho-surgery that Angron is believed to have instigated among his favoured sons. Those who survived honed their newly enhanced desire for berserk slaughter through martial discipline and the mastery of cruel and vicious weapons adapted from the arena combats in which the Red Angel fought during his youth.
Of those World Eaters who were plunged too far into madness by their Legion’s experiments, little is known, but dark rumours whisper that they now form the ranks of the Caedere, or ‘butchers’; a dark foreshadowing of the red-handed future of the XIIth Legion.
Designed by Mark Bedford and Will Hayes, the World Eaters Legion Rampager Squad contains five complete multi-part resin models, which are packed with Legion-specific detail. Each member of the squad is presented helmetless in order to show the surgical implants the Rampagers received, and the kit also contains a meteor hammer, two Excoriator chainaxes, a barb-hook lash and a pair of Falax blades; all weapons unique to the World Eaters Legion that can also be used to build XIIth Legion characters.
Legion Phobos Pattern Chainaxes Less common a sight than the ubiquitous chainsword, the chainaxe was used almost wholesale by the World Eaters Legion, its savage nature and brutal appearance a match for their merciless style of warfare.
Designed by Will Hayes, the Phobos Pattern Chainaxe set contains five Phobos-pattern chainaxes and five bolt pistols. It is fully compatible with our Power Armour mark sets models, and is perfect for portraying the ferocious warriors of Angron’s Legion.
Probably the first heresy release I'm not impressed with, those heads seem to have the derpy faces many third party replacement heads seem to have. At least they do seem to be covering pretty much every unit in the book gradually rather than just expecting conversions from the base units.

Apart their faces, they're pretty excellent. I think they'd make one awesome berserker unit if combined with FW berserker kits and some standard chaos or heresy bits.
But yes, the faces are really below usual FW standard. A trainee sculptor, perhaps?

After seeing the post surgery faces Yangon commissioned the techmarine to build the bunny helmets because they were less silly.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now." - Magnus the Red, to a statue of Leman Russ

I like the phobos chainaxe set. The Rampagers entirely justify my dislike of marines without helmets and raise my heckles further with bare arms. I like pre-Heresy World Eaters, i do not like these.
I'm in agreement that they look much better unpainted. It's mainly the heads, though they are painted better than I could. I just don't care for the style.

I'd love to mix the rampagers into a bersker squad for sake of variety, I think they would look great if you stuck on some berserker helmets (not keen on the bare head look meself) but at £32 for five minis, I think I'll give it a miss!

It's a reference to the traditional Chinese weapon that's called the meteor hammer and looks exactly what the marine is wielding. It's not a flail, which has a handle.
On the topic of the Heresy marines - so far, I've been fond of none of the heresy close combat weapons. I don't care for the fancy-headed axes, I don't care for machetes, sabers, or chain weapons. It's like the FW team can't resist the urge to be original for originality's sake and would make any historical melee weapon that has yet to appear in 40K. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the good ol' swords, maces, and axes as represented in GW sculpts. As for the set in question, the bodies are good, the weapons I don't care for, and the heads are plain badly sculpted and oversized. Give us the next Primarch already, FW.

I hope you see the irony in your post. In one sentence you deride me for not realizing the meteor hammer was in reference to traditional Chinese weaponry (I suppose I need to brush up on my traditional Chinese weaponry--what was I thinking!) and in the next deride Forge World for not making "traditional" weapons. While I've already admitted my knowledge of traditional Chinese weaponry needs some honing, I can't help but think that the barb hook lash and the Falax Blades look pretty darn traditional.

I didn't deride anybody, I simply informed those users who didn't know what the weapon was about its real life origins. Why you chose to read it as an attack is beyond me.
I object to FW for going out of their way to make real life weapons that have never appeared in hands of 40K models before due to them being quite exotic to Brits. Good ol' referred to weapons used by GW marines, not historical warriors across the world. I see it as trying too hard to be different than GW and makes me see the FW Heresy line as taking place in a different universe than 40K proper. I mean where did all those weapons disappear to over the millennia?

I am with you 100%.
Honestly I feel like they 'phoned these in'.
I hope the whole 30k thing doesn't dilute the quality of sculpting due to the high volume of products and accelerated release schedule.

After seeing the unpainted models here. I think I've found the base models for my Iron Warriors Khorne Berserkers. I've got a thing for the old armour.
