Alright! I've got the basic squad + special characters + Astropath in progress, and pics are here!

Uzgrim and his Bodyguards:

"Counts as" Kell (to be named):

He still needs the Uzgrim's Standard and a power weapon. And requests for what kind of power weapon? I'm thinking something runtherd related, or a power axe.

Missile Launcher Team:

The one with the launcher has his right arm (under the launcher) but no left arm yet.

BBQ (hvy flamer):

I've got some ogre kingdom meat bitz to throw on the grill... once there is a grill, and I need to make a third leg for the bbq. I also liked that his hat kinda looks like a backwards baseball cap.

And finally, the Astropath:

Now, some of you may have seen these two before. They are the field dispatch for Stop Trukk Towing (the deff skulls towing company).

The missing arms are more a result of not finding some of my bitz. I think they got lost in the re-arrange of my apartment. Same goes for "Kell's" head. I want to use one of those heads that's screaming.

I'm having second thoughts using the old models for Uzgrim and his bodyguard. THey are actually the same size as the super grots, so they end up looking small, and they look more orky than the super grots. I guess I could make the grots look more orky. I dunno, what do you think? Let me know.

Thanks for reading.

*edit*
Something else, I found this model shifing through my bitz box:

Counts as Callidus Temple Assassin. All but the shield arm will be there.

Uzgrim's favorite BBQ Chef (flamer), Gutsnik's Master of Ordnance, and a potential medic or vox carrier. I figure, since he can't fight as well, they would make him carry the radio.

Here's a different angle on the two that need one:

I want to make the MoO's backpack less smurfy, but I can't think of anyway to start... any tips?
The bottles that the chef has on his belt are gonna be salt and pepper, or some other spices. I figure, I might swop out the "medic's" helmet for some scrap or a weapon or something.

Thanks for checking it out. Comments and Criticism welcome and wanted.

Also, I found an old ogre while rummaging through my bits that I think would be great as Nork... so now I'm collecting nob bits for him... stay tuned.

pretty cool, love the bbq
If you're set on using the smurf-pack try chopping the main exhausts and the lower part w 4 vents, then inverting it and work from there.

Nice work. I love what I'm seeing. For the old ork models, I think if you GS some long noses, it will make them look MUCH more grotty.

I love the heavy grill flamer. A great grill mesh would be the mesh they use for cross stitching. You can cut it to shape and drop/glue it right in.

This thread needs more spatula!

@Monkeytroll:
Thanks for the tip, it's given me an idea for better mounting the radar!

@Heffling:
I've got a few different sizes of "chicken fence", I'll have to give them a look and see if any fit the bill... I mean grill
ps: More spatula?

Thanks for the kind words and suggestions.

Start concept work on Nightmare Forge as squig/tek devise to call Gork and Mork to Gutsnik.

Wown those are looking great! I especially love how you added a bit of goblin face to the IG helmet of the MoO; must've been some careful cutting.... If you want to remove the smurfiness of the backpack, I agree with monkeytroll: removing the vents would go a long way. You could always put the radar dish to the side in stead of one of the vents as well, going for a more lopsided look.

I see for Kell that you found the heads from microart as well . How do they hold up? I have them in my bitz box for my next bunch of kommissars, so I'm curious about them. They look a tad big, but nothing that can't be fixed.

The BBQ.. is pure win Lovely idea! When it comes to a power weapon for Kell, have you considered a ramped-up grot-prod?It would fit with his 'Listen up you maggots' rule.

Careful cutting indeed. The hardest part was the nose, though. Not cutting it, rather - not bending it, and I wad to be careful not to stab it into my finger while holding the thing. Well worth it though, as I came out unscathed.

The grot prod is brilliant! I pulled one out of my bits yesterday without knowing what I would use it for (it just looked useful), and now I know. Thanks.

I've got another visitor coming this weekend, and I'm working early tomorrow, so I don't think they will see any more attention until the middle of next week. :(

So, the nightmare forge I found flipping through the DH Radicals handbook. It sounds like a great addition to the fluff of the Tyrant Star, so I figured I'd make one for Gutsnik, only it'll be a cybor-squig sort of thing. Giant and unable to move, blasting out orkish spores and calling to Gork and Mork.

I'll have to do some serious concept work to make it truly orky, but it should be a fun challenge. I'm not going to start work on the physical model any time soon (I think) because it's something that will go inside Gutsnik's mekshop, or at least on the grounds. But I'll start working on some sketches and post them.

There is a nice special rule for Nork that says he will kill a Commissar if the commissar tries to kill the Company Commander. I was pretty excited to find this rule, because I wanted to include a Commissar in the CCS, but I was worried about losing Uzgrim in the heat of battle... and now that I have a base for a Nork conversion I'll definitly add the Commissar model to the CCS. It's another old metal Space Ork. He's got a peeked cap, too, so he looks the part! More picks later.

@Arakasi: Glad to go above and beyond... wait, is that sarcasm? ;P

I'm glad the BBQ is a big hit too.

I'm still looking for feedback on the bodyguard, do the runtherds make sense as a runtmasters bodyguard or should I use model some boyz? I am going to make Nork, to protect Uzgrim from Da Lord Kommizzarrr if things should go sour, but I want the regular bodyguard too, so I don't have to spend the points all the time.

So, should I model two boyz for the role of bodyguard, or are the runtherds ok?

The runtherds look cool, so I say keep'em. Besides, old-skool models should always be used IMO, if only to educate the young'uns

"Counts As Nork Deddog" Nork Da Ork, said to be a spore pod mate of Gork's. And a shot of Uzgrim next to Nork for size comparison.

So here is the Officer of the Fleet (with all the feathers) and two new bodyguards for Uzgrim. I'm gonna use the runtherds as platoon commanders. Now I just need to find arms for them. The new ork arms look too big. :(

So now every character in the CCS has a model!

....just need to finish 'em.

Any tips or requests for Nork would be appreciated. I want to take away the chain axe and give him something characterful. I need to toughen up his gun too. Thanks!

Looking good, especially Nork da Ork ; For arms, would marauders arms from fantasy fit the bill?

THanks. I'm pretty happy with Nork, too.
The marauder arms look like they would be good for the super grots. I want to use ork arms for the orks, though... I've got some old plastic ork arms somewhere around here.

I've spliced Nork's pistal with a big shoota. It needs some GS to gap fill, but I think it works for his Rippa Gun.

I'll post a pic of the whole squad use I get some GS work done.

I've found suitable arms for the bodyguard boyz and the Officer of the Fleet, so now I can finish them when I have time. Still looking for arms for a couple of the super grots. I think I'll have to cut up and GW some arms for them in the long run. Fun times for next week!

I found a kopta near my desk and started taking it apart (in my head), looking for bits... and I started thinking about the tau helmet inspired bionic cranium/eye that I wanted to make for Gutsnik. Some size comparisons and scrounging my tau bits, I came up with this:

What do you think? I'm going to get a tau helmet to slip under it (covering the top/right side of his head) or just GS it.

And here are Gutsnik's newest employees:

The two on the left will be kommandos and the other two will probably make it into his retinue.
ps: it looks like the primed ork's hat is actually a rat tailed, unicorn squig. You can almost make out the things face on the front.

The one on the right. So the right side of his head will have a tau helmet/brain case that will cover the top and upper right side of his head, above the eye-patch strap.

So, that's where it is. I haven't done more than find arms for a few of them. I've worked up a few other characters that I will have to model, which will be fun, but that's where the retinue stands. I'm still figuring out the mopeds. I think I will pose a kroot first, just to get a rough idea of the size. Then I'll make a hand full and pose the kroot on them. In the mean time, I'll try to get some GSing in for the CCS... :/ the stuff still intimidates me.

Oh, and here is the Callidus Assassin:
